Actually  24 years for me starting as host beginning in the AOL days in 1998. Even hosted 2 Cruise critic group cruises....

My son lives there on East End. Take precautions protect your possessions ashore as you would anywhere. Roatan is not inherently unsafe. Lots of good options on here

I asked my son who lives there part time and he says they go to Big French Key. There was a fire at Little French Key a couple years ago, place apparently rebuilt, but now struggle between the two owner groups. . He said there are too m many nice places there to avoid the drama at LFk

It looks like the Grandisa seems to be more attractive in terms of the itinerary, ship though it is more expensive.

The ship with better itinerary and port times. Alaska is all about the destination not the ship imho.

I'm sure the OP appreciates all the responses but this is ultimately a  medical question and only a physician should make the call. I sure hope you can go but need to rely on your surgeeon
