Tour By Van

We were in Acapulco for the day off of the Oceania Regatta in late December. Myself, my parents and my 17 year old daughter had a wonderful day with Rudy and his coworkers. Carlos (Charlie) was our driver and Rogelio (Roger) was our guide. We met up with Rudy along the way in several spots and he was very responsive and prompt in all of our email communications with him before our trip, and available and checking in with us throughout the day. Charlie and Roger spoke excellent English, were fun, friendly and full of all sorts of interesting information about Acapulco, it's history, politics and the sites we visited. They answered all of my questions (and I had a lot!) and they could not have been kinder or more patient with my mom who is 81 and does not get along as easily as she used to. We walked through the markets, saw downtown and the beaches, the Chapel of Peace and Las Brisas neighborhood, stopped above the city for some great views, saw the cliff divers, the Diego Rivera mural and had a meal at LaCabana on Las Caletas beach. All the sites were excellent and we only regretted that we could not spend more time in this beautiful city. We always felt safe and comfortable. I highly recommend Rudy and his staff if you are in Acapulco, and please do visit Acapulco if you get a chance!!!
2. We are also on this cruise and would like to visit Antigua, no interest in any of the tours currently offered. Agree that an O tour would be a great option in this port because of possible travel issues. We are a party of 4, our third O cruise, and we invited my parents to join us this time. We love the food, size, service and itineraries!

Regatta - Holiday Cruise

We had the same experience on the Regatta holiday cruise- O service not the same as we experienced in the past. Last year the service on our O holiday cruise on Insignia in South America was a 10. This year maybe an 8? We actually had the worst service at breakfast and lunch in the Terrace Cafe. It was almost impossible to get a refill of coffee or water, sometimes never got a tea or hot chocolate we ordered, never had a drink order taken, or water poured, several days at lunch, and the cabana service was not at all like what we experienced last year. I loved the staff last year, and even left a sizable extra overall tip and plenty of extra individual tips. We still really enjoyed our cruise overall, and found the staff to be incredibly hard working, they just seemed overwhelmed and under staffed at times.

Tours in Buenes Aires and Rio

We used Rafael Torres when we were in Rio last year on this cruise and had a great experience. Check out his blog with information, pictures and contact info: http://donrafaguestsinrio.blogspot.com/. He was very responsive and although it was the Christmas holidays and he himself was booked, he set us up with Marcone for one full day and Diana for another full day. They were both lovely, had comfortable air conditioned cars and were right on time and very friendly. Diana also took us to the ariport on our last day. We met another couple on the ship who also used this company and they were equally pleased. He'll set up a custom itinerary, or you can use his suggested itineraries which we enjoyed. We toured Buenos Aires on our own. Both beautiful cities. I'm sure you will have a great trip!

Jolly beach day pass, need help ....

I spent 10 days in the area last winter when I rented a villa on Jolly Beach (not part of the all inclusive resort). Personally, I would save the $$ charged by the resort and just take a cab (or the bus) to Castaways on Jolly Beach. You can have a better lunch and drinks on the sand overlooking the same beach for less than $60 a person. They also rent chairs and umbrellas there. It is a beautiful beach, great for swimming, but the Jolly Beach resort semed a bit shabby and the food did not look very good IMHO. Castaways had lots of food and drink choices. There are also several good restaurants over at the Harbor (walking distance) and another resort at the far end of the beach that we ate at for dinner (good), but never tried for lunch.

Looking for information on Eli's Eco Tour

Loved Eli's Eco tour! Our group included myself, husband, teenage daughter and father. We loved the food, the boat, the crew, the snorkeling, the scenery and the fact that it was a small group. Although we were staying in a villa in Jolly Beach, and met them at the dock there, we picked up and dropped off passengers right at the cruise dock. They were very careful to bring them back in time. Eli's and Stingray sailing in Grand Cayman are both great excursion trips if you do not like BIG crowds.
