  1. Tonight’s dinner…smoked some pork chops on the smoker, smashed potatoes, green beans, and of course topped off with an OGD114 Old Fashioned.
  2. Andi and I made a long weekend trip to one of our fave places, McCall ID, for our anniversary. What would a post of mine be without mentioning that on the way through Oregon, I found some nice bottles. WA has a crazy liquor tax (over 20%), so it was nice to pay MSRP for a change. Stevie was very excited when we got home (we have a regular house/petsitter), but that excitement has obviously worn off.
  3. Weekend project…expanding the bar shelves. Bought some 8 ft. 1x10s at Home Depot and then stained them. But…those bottles look way too spread out. I think I’m wasting a lot of usable space. 🤣
  4. Sounds much needed and a fun time...hope your friends end up loving cruising as much as you do! Love Nachi, one of our faves as well. We usually do Maya Chan in Costa Maya, so looking forward to see what you all think about Pez Quadro.
  5. What a list...my mind immediately reverted to my elementary-school-self laying in bed listening to Casey Kasem's American Top 40
  6. Interesting. Not to derail this fine thread (too much), but I'm on Enalapril and only get a little edema on long airplane flights when I can't do much walking around...but I'd bet that is also caused by some poor circulation due to my Cauda Equina/nerve issues.
  7. Crazy pricing but predictable. I can get lucky at my neighborhood Safeway for $39.99 a couple times a year...when I'm there on the right day at the right time, I'll grab it. Every so often I daydream about them allowing passengers to open up a bottle purchased onboard...say you can buy that ER and have it opened and available for you at the Schooner Bar in your name. It'll never happen but I can dream.
  8. So many great steakhouses in NYC, you can ask 100 different people and get 100 different top 10s. My fave is Keen's in Midtown. But yeah, the thick sliced bacon at Luger's is almost worth the trek just by itself.
  9. Yeah, I'm not looking forward to replacing the entire length of fence (about 120') between us and the back neighbor. We have horribly bad soil in our area (it's about 4-6" of soil over a bed of river rock, it's almost impossible to dig), so about 15 years ago or so they brought in a bunch of topsoil for their backyard, and of course filled it all the way to the fenceline. So over the years, that has degraded the bottom of the entire fence...it's probably my next summer's project.
  10. This is awesome. No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn is on my morning going to work playlist to get me pumped for the day.
  11. Started off the Labor Day weekend by laboring’…replacing a couple fence sections. Then, a little stir fry waiting for Andi when she got home from work. And finally, ending the week and starting the weekend off right. Cheers, my friends!!
  12. Check out the Schooner Bar, they may still have the Toasted Marshmallow Old Fashioned. This is correct, if you're not a whiskey fan, an OF probably isn't going to be your jam.
  13. If our little mini-Bella on Adventure with @Momof3gurlz and Andy and @jmh2006 and Dave last October is any indication, I have no doubt it's going to be epic.
  14. Looking forward to this! We're on Freedom in December, first time on that class. Excited to see what you see and think!
  15. Good news, just booked the Allure TA Oct 2025 Barcelona-FLL. First TA...woot! Bad news, had to cancel Bella 2.5...neither Andi or I could take the extra week off after Bella 2. We've got so much time off packed into December (an 8 day on Freedom and a 5 day Christmas trip to NYC) and January (a week to drive our daughters car from San Antonio to Albany NY (where she's moving mid-January), that we just couldn't find a way to make another week for 2.5 to work. But we'll be there for Bella 2 on Wonder with bells on.
  16. Sometimes I look back at what I did pitching as a kid I’m amazed I still have an arm. One game as a Jr in HS I pitched 11 innings…I’m sure I threw 150+ pitches. Crazy thing is my arm felt great the next day…in fact that was a Tuesday game and I came back and threw another 7+ innings on Friday.
  17. So I actually have a cruising-related question for everyone here, and it doesn't involve bourbon at all 🤣 Our Freedom cruise in December stops at St. Kitts. We've been there a few times, have done the Thenford Gray tour and Carambola, etc. We've never done Nevis. The ship offers a couple different excursions but we usually find we like the private ones better. Has anyone done an excursion to Nevis that wasn't through the ship?
  18. I love experimenting with different OF recipes. Different bitters, sweeteners, slightly different measures of bourbon/rye. It's fun to come up with new ideas! The only problem is I never write anything down so I've probably never made the same one twice 🤣
  19. I usually don't like my OFs on the sweet side. In fact, I usually only put a little bit of simple syrup, I like the bite of the bourbon. When I make OFs for my wife and I, I always double her sweetness and halve mine (kinda like in real life 🤣). But this one hits just right. It's sweet with a definite taste to it.
  20. Have tomorrow off so I’m starting the long weekend right with one of my at-home faves, an Old Fashioned with maple syrup and black walnut bitters. Cheers my friends!
  21. @jam19872016 Thank you for the great live review! We're on Freedom in December and your thread has been fantastic.
  22. Don't sweat it, just self-disembark and you'll be fine. I've been through security and sitting at my gate at FLL around 8:00 many times.
