Just for the record, I'll make some additional comments to SempreMare's excellent information about, among other things, the Grand Hotel and Grand Café in Oslo:
The Grand Hotel is located on Oslo's main street, Karl Johans gate. Directly opposite the Grand Hotel, is Norway's parliament, the Storting. (Usually, several days a week there is some form of demonstration in front of the Storting. There is rarely more than a maximum of a few hundred people who participate, and the demonstrations are almost always peaceful).
From outside the Grand Hotel, you will see the royal palace, at the top of Karl Johans gate, home to HM King Harald V and HM Queen Sonja. Changing of the guards is every day at 1.30 pm.
