Big Leadership Change for Seabourn, Holland America, etc
frantic36 replied to SonomaMountain's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
I have been reading about Mark Tamis and I am still trying to digest why after being President of Global Operations of Aimbridge he has decided to move over to Seabourn? https://hotelsmag.com/news/aimbridge-is-the-largest-third-party-operator-is-it-big-enough/ You know from my posts I am wary of speculation but this has me puzzled. -
Are roll calls not popular any longer?
frantic36 replied to Smokeyham's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Another good reason to avoid social media like FB. -
We will be in Mindelo next March and I looked at a few Green Line tours but didn't know anything about them so this is very reassuring.

True, but the whole concept got stale for those of us to whom an American Steak House is not the be all of food. I very rarely visit a Steak House on land, last time was when I visited Argentina.
-
I enjoyed the ambience in TK but found the menu boring, repetitive and too American centric. We went there as the chance to have a more intimate restaurant and we enjoyed the interaction with the staff.

Accolades to Carnival and Seabourn management

With all the endless speculation and doomsayers here I have begun to think they just want drama to spice up their lives. -
Seabourn Personal Cruise Consultant v Travel Agent
frantic36 replied to toseaornottosea's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
If you mean Regent then I beg to differ that it is the "true lux line" compared to Seabourn unless you mean dull? -
I have found that when onboard and even when booking and sorting out an issue with Seabourn Australia through my travel agent they do aim to solve problems. It might not be instantaneous but fairly quick. I am writing less on this board because the doomsayers and complainers have increased. There are some lovely people but. I won't go to FB because some of the people who first got me into enjoying SB cruise critic are the worst complainers. I have sailed with them and the cruise they complained about was one I sailed on and loved. I am over it. And I do sometimes use my TA for flights because her consortium has reduced fares with some airlines. It doesn't always work but why not check?

I assume you are correct. Certainly no kayaks on our Kimberley Pursuit cruise earlier this year. -

You won't be kayaking in the Kimberleys as far to dangerous due to our large and aggressive crocodiles. When they take you by zodiac to the beach they will tell you to move straight away from the water and no walking the water's edge. Those crocs move fast and seemingly can come out of nowhere. This isn't just a Seabourn rule as I have been on True North as well and they are just as cautious. -
Barbados for those from the UK is a direct flight so not out of the way. I personally having visited twice on a cruise don't see the appeal. When I was checking the Regent board earlier this year there was great gnashing of teeth because they also were unable to supply hotels in Reykjavik and Barbados so I think this for some reason becoming more of a problem.

Thanks Nancy, I will be on Sojourn next March In Canary Islands and Patio is a lovely place for breakfast.

I just got off Regent as well and though the ship was lovely and yes restaurants were open. I will only do transatlantics on them because I felt the included excursions had too many people in that buses were fairly full and multiple buses going to the same site so bumping into Regent touring groups. Also hardly anyone in the clubs at night after dinner. So though I might have to deal with some restaurant restrictions during the day I will mainly stick with Seabourn. Especially port intensive cruises as we are usually out exploring and dine in the port. And my husband and I enjoy the way the bars are set up so it is easier to chat with others in the evening. One question, is the Patio no longer open for breakfast? It was when I was on Odyssey in September but people keep discussing only the Colonnade.

New to Seabourn and worried about recent bad food reviews
frantic36 replied to anonymousegirl's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
Thanks 😄. I think I'll do a special order of liver and onions for lunch one day. I had it one day with friends on Seabourn and they did a good job. -

Visiting the Canary Islands? -
You are such a nice person 🙂. I hope you and your partner get back on Seabourn soon. When we were on Seabourn On Odyssey the internet in Alaska and Japan was good in September. Our Internet on Regent in October was okay but we had a lot of things blocked and my husband had to stay on the ship in one port to do business with the bank. People on the Regent board claimed it was us but we have never experienced this even last September on Odyssey. Regent was a lovely ship and the food as good as Seabourn. The included wines a little better but the included tours did our head in. Way too many people and too many buses going to the same place since. On Seabourn we usually do our own thing. There were a couple of tours we did that was fine. For clarity it was never the tour guides it was too many people We have decided as lovely as the Regent ship and restaurants are we could only do a transatlantic as it is way too much of a waste of money. We don't get flights offered in Australia and we have confirmed we don't like bus tours.

Yes they will do hold the bottle with your suite number on. My husband is allergic to red wine but I like to have it sometimes, usually no more than a glass or two. They will use the Coravin system to extract that glass or two so there is no problem with oxidation later.

@klfrodo you might not use FB as a information site but others do. I have had people quote things from FB groups that were just personal opinion or rumours but I was told they were "facts". -

Interesting read. I hope CC doesn't fade away as though I have found some postings and complaints trivial at best, I do enjoy reading advice on the ports of call boards. @klfrodo I don't use FB not because I am not computer savvy because I am and so are my adult sons who also refuse to use it. We do our research from much more factual sites. -

We will be on Sojourn Las Palmos - Lisbon. Yes hopefully one day we will get to meet.

@marazul I'm glad you had a good dinner 😀. I love good Italian food. Heck I love good food.😂 I'm busy organising our next trip in March/April to Lisbon and the Canary Islands. Both places we have never visited before.
