From what I understand drydock is cancelled. Staff are hoping for PG to be in operation mid June.

Must be true, since this morning the 26th the PG is still in Papeete and dry dock in Singapore was supposed to start on the 28th.

  2. As of today 1/19/18 - French (changed it name from French Blue due to legal issues) has not been granted permission to sell tickets on the SFO-PPT leg yet by the US government. It still shows just a technical stop i.e. refueling.

  3. It used to be $900 at the airport to upgrade to business class at the airport. We stopped doing when it got to that price.

TN price for an upgrade varies depending on the day of the week and how many seats are available. As Wendy stated Air France's Premium Economy is also a nice way to go. That begin; Air France is going to be dropping some low performing routes as they are in a world of hurt. Did you see the riot/mob protest the other day in Paris at AF's headquarters?

Rumor only **Since AF and Delta has a joint venture, it has been spectacled that Delta might take over the LAX-PPT portion, if that happened I would imagine that would be a year at the earliest.

  4. I have read on these boards that one of the best places to obtain local currency is on the ship itself, but we will be in Papeete for a few days pre cruise. Are USD accepted by taxis, roullettes and the market stalls where a cc cannot be used?

    Thanks for any input

Best if you can get the money before you leave. Wells Fargo didn't charge me anything and I had it in two days.

  5. Tuesday, lle des Pins, New Caledonia & Wednesday, Noumea, New Caledonia

Any tour or activity suggestions for these 2 locations?

Ile des Pins is beautiful, and as we experienced great scuba diving. Kayaking, snorkeling are also on the to do list.

Noumea has a great shoreline walk where you can watch or involve yourself in wind surfing, there are tours to outer islands. Cheap public transit system to get around. We were there on a Saturday and Sunday, which meant stores and such closed down at noon on Saturday and didn't reopen until a P&O ship arrived Sunday about 4pm.

In New Caledonia the Central Pacific Franc (CPF) is the currency.

Our experience was the ship staff was unfamiliar with these ports, so you are basically on your own.

  6. Did you take a taxi from the airport? I would love to come in a few days earlier to be rested for our cruise.

Yes we did..Just say the ride was an adventure..but the fare was inexpensive.

  7.

Our other stops are Ile Des Pins, New Caledonia, Noumea, New Caledonia,Ile de Lifouny,Tanna Island, Port Vila,Vanuatu, Suva and Lautoka, Fiji

This an itinerary that we have not enjoyed on the PG and we look forward to this trip!

We did this trip last year. It's not Tahiti, but it was an excellent trip anyways taking the PG to explore places I haven't been before is great. If you're into scuba the diving in New Caledonia is world class. Port Vila is sort of a dump, again after the Typhoon earlier in the year, I was told rebuilding in going on. Are you starting in Lautoka? We stayed here: http://www.tanoawaterfront.com, it was a short walk to the pier and local shopping and did I mention the rates are very good. This will be a good trip..

  8. Thank you both. I'm going to start making plans this summer for next February. First choice is definitley the Galveston Express.

Just used Galveston Express to/from the port to the airport (IAH) the service was just super. Keith, the owner stated he will meet any cruise that comes in scheduled day off or not.

  9. The IAD-HNL and back on a 767 has lie flats and the DEN-HNL on a 757  has lie flats as well. Those are the only two I can find. Everything else is on a 737,A320 or 777 with no lie flats. I did the IAH-HNL a few years ago in coach and the ride over was ok...the ride back was awful. I guess as I get older and have a little more disposable income, comfort is becoming more important. There is no way I would do a red eye in regular coach these days, I would pay the extra and route through DEN or IAD for the lie flats.

I think you mean IAH..I wouldn't fly to Dulles to catch a ship out of Galveston, if you know what I mean.:)

  10. Sounds like Ducklite was having a bad day. (Did you know that PE on AF allows you to use the First and Business Class check-in positions?) Never had a problem with PE on Air France on the SFO-CDG run on either the 777 or A380. Now flying to PPT, we haven't used the AF service because the departure/arrival times are terrible. We much prefer the afternoon departure on TN and the 11pm-12midnight return.

  11. I would agree that a 2016 release of 2017 dates is very, very late. Many of use use award miles for flights and we need a 330 day in advance time frame. I sail this June and will ask as a 2017 date is something I am interested in as well.

I just booked a cabin on a charter for April 1, 2017 a 14 day cruise (Society, Tuamotu, and Marquesas islands) so I guessing that the general 2017 sailings will be announced in a month or so.

  12. TN is getting their first two Boeing 787-900's in October 2018 (leased) and two more in May and July 2019 (purchased) to replace the Airbus 340-300 aircraft currently in use. No question TN will be saving money just on fuel alone. The Boeing announcement regarding the purchased aircraft can be found here:

  13. New to X, been on a few different lines and the muster drill changes depending on the brand it seems. So what is the process for Celebrity? (Reflection - Caribbean)

    Thanks

Just off the Connie yesterday, the muster drill was a custer, our muster station was in the casino. Guess if there is a real emergency, they wanted our money before we sunk.
