  1. Most of my eastbound TA’s have been in March (only one in April). It is normally warm the first few days out of Florida, then becomes progressively cooler. Have a lovely time!
  2. Okay, but you’d have had to have had the ribeye for a proper comparison. 😉
  3. We were specifically commenting on the ribeye. I have seen other comments the same, all on different sailings; all on different ships. I have had lovely steak in the Pinnacle Grill. Just not the ribeye.
  4. Once was enough for me. It was tough and gristly; just a terrible piece of meat. It was such a chore to try to cut through that I finally gave up. My arms were tired. 😂 I don’t see anyone obsessed but I do see where it would make a difference in knowing as those in charge directly affect ship climate and attention to detail. I have to agree that Kevin Beirnaert is one of the more personable captains in the fleet. I would rate Captain Darren Bowland equally as high, but I see he is now with the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. (Good for him.) WRT the Cruise and Entertainment Directors and staff… those people can make or break your cruise. I definitely know who’d I’d prefer to be at sea with; especially if it’s on one of the longer voyages.
  5. Kind of six of one; half dozen of the other when you think about it, though. They were probably relying on future revenue to recoup the investment.
  6. I would tend to think this is the case, given their price increases, cutbacks, and blatant nickel-and-dimeing I keep reading about on these boards.
  7. Okay, I did as told and now I think I strongly dislike you. 😂 As to the rectangles, if a crescent shape is problematic for people, they can go ahead and make an imaginary rectangle within the crescent and Bob’s your uncle. What a strange thing to get hung up about! Especially if you know how to dance. I wonder if Cunard lobbed off the crescenty bits for them, would they be happier?
  8. Would have loved to have done the P2P but the timing is not yet right. Hoping they do it again. 🤞
  9. Glad you made it home safely and love the cat chatter. 😂 Thank you for your trip report! I enjoyed following along. (And maybe a bit sad that you didn’t do a Myles lol)
  10. Thus the need for safety requirements. 🙃 But I believe it is more to do with the requirements for tender and lifeboat positions than additional decks. I suppose they could add a larger prom somewhere, or even take it away like they did on the royal-class Princess ships! 😲 But, hey, I am far from a naval architect, so what do I know.
  11. It always depends on which galley staff is tasked with it and, even when it’s the same person, consistency will change daily. I can’t say I’ve ever had my eggs the same way twice. Nor the bacon and toast, for that matter! 😂
  12. HAL has three pinnacle-class ships (love them) and there is a lot of grumbling about the proms. It is my understanding that the design is to conform to current standards and requirements. Thank you for your review! I can honestly say that I have never been on a ship I haven’t loved. There is so much to enjoy, beginning with the sea!
  13. Cunard has exceptional libraries, including the recently-launched Queen Anne. If you go to the following page, scroll down, you can page through each ship. Welcome to the Cunard Libraries
  14. I didn’t use it for cruises but I recall using it for mine and my husband’s air travel. (Which was a lot.). Something made it stop being worthwhile but I can’t recall why, at this point. That was a long time ago!
  15. Holy smokes, I forgot about Tripit! I used to use it all the time. Cant remember why I stopped using it, though.
  16. And such is the difference between the throwaway society and the classic enthusiasts. I don’t understand all the angst about ditching the old and buying the new. On a miniature comparison scale, Ontario cottagers just love their classic wooden boats. They are gorgeous, and nothing new can come close to compare. I hate to think what a great loss it would be if previous owners had decided that they weren’t new enough, or weren’t worthy enough, to maintain and keep. HAL ships have a 25 year life span, after which a decision is made to either keep them or replace them. Obviously, this decision is based on many factors. I trust that HAL knows, better than us, what those factors are. It is nice that they have decided that the Volendam is worth refurbishing. New doesn’t always mean better.
  17. My sister does the reverse. She drives to Southampton, parks the car, then calls a taxi from the car park to the bus station to catch the National Express to LHR. (This is for when she flies to FLL to meet us for a TA. That way, her car is already there when we arrive.) She says she does not recall if there is a taxi stand at the bus station but finds it hard to believe that there isn’t one. She uses Southampton Taxi: LINK: Southampton Taxi
  18. That’s what I’d do^^. I canceled breakfast early one morning, to be replaced with coffee, and they were quite pleasant about it. I’d certainly give it a try!
  19. Well, that explains why it was nigh on impossible to time a TA with any of my travel schedules in 2023!
  20. They do! The next time I ordered I would tell them to send me up whatever they heck they want because they’re going to do it anyway. 😂
  21. I didn’t realize you had to order breakfast the night before. I thought you could call up as long as you were within the window. I have never seen a frittata look like that either! 😂
  22. I agree with @ski ww. Venice is a disaster. I can’t believe that FLL didn’t make the bottom of the list!
  23. I think they’re being kind to SEA and ATL. Have traveled through/to/from all of them and I would place YYZ before SEA. ATL is just filthy and with horrible employees. No thanks.
