ok - so just did reservation for Hyatt (1851 SE 10th St) thru ValueTrips).  will see how this goes with pricing & let you know.

called Avanti - they charge $9 p.p. for airport pickup/drop off- said they start at 5 a.m. so we can get pickup at hotel for flight at 7 a.m.

$8 p.p. for shuttle to cruise port

is taxi price cheaper than avanti shuttle prices?

    thanks!

    NJ

You should have no concerns about using ValueTrips...just call the hotel to verify.

They used to have a FLL shuttle pickup for $5.00 per room reservation...perhaps that's no longer the case.

Yeah for most part they really dont fix them, they just give you a new one. Happen to me and was first time I used it also. Will never know if was broke by a Porter or Royal. Delta Air was worse. Had front pocket rip wide open, but since the mesh was still there inside pocket where you could see my Clothes they said still good. I always carry my Army sewing kit, so I sewed it permanently shut at the Hotel before I Boarded the Ship

I had a great experience with DL. My bag was damaged and went to the DL customer service near carousel pickup at LAX and they brought a new similar piece of luggage and I transferred my contents into the new bag and was on my way.

There will be 6 adults traveling in my party.... Charlotte to Fort Lauderdale.  We are researching if renting a 12 passenger van will be more economical than taking 2-3 vehicles from home.  Pickup in Charlotte drop-off at Fort Lauderdale cruise port then repeat on the return trip....it will save on gas and parking for 2 weeks.  My questions are at drop-off will the shuttle be able to accommodate 6 people with luggage going to the port?  How difficult on disembarking day will it be to get 6 people on the shuttle at the cruise port to go pickup the van to return home?

The shuttle vans that we've used have been able to accommodate the six of us and our luggage. We self disembark so we're some of the first there and able to get the first shuttle.

    Hi all,

When booking entertainment, we can reserve:

    -Ice show

    -Diving show

    -Wizard of Oz

    -Comedy

    -Headliner

Does anyone know if the Icon still has Effectors?  If so, is this not a reservable show?

Same thing for Showband Live.  Is this still a show, and is a first come first serve if so?

    Thanks.

Effectors was bookable on our May Icon cruise so was Starburst Elemental...possibly it's not for your sailing. Ice show, Wizard of Oz and Aqua Action were great...comedy was ok.

Book asap as these book up early.

And I’m almost 80. Yet some of our cruises will have both snorkeling and a need for cold weather hiking gear.

    While we’re at it:

For folks who annually travel by air a lot and have a preferred airline/air consortium, it may be worthwhile to get one of your preferred carrier’s credit cards. We use United primarily and when we don’t fly bizclass we still get 70 lb checked baggage limits plus some United Club passes. As long as we buy the United or Star Alliance consortium tix from United, our CC gets the 70 lb allowance on all flights.

Similar to what we get with DL.

I see the question asked above but did not see the address. Is this the address for Budget Cruise Port and not the FLL Airport?

    Ft Lauderdale Cruiseport Shttl,EV3

    2520 Miami Rd,

    Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316 US

    (1) 954-761-7231

    Sun 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM; Mon - Fri 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM; Sat 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

The address above is indeed Budget/Avis/Payless off site rental location just outside the Port Everglades gate. This is not the FLL rental location address for these companies. They are inside the FLL terminal.

If we miss the ship in Vancouver, I would hope that the cruise line would still fly us into Vancouver to get through customs there and then ferry us over to Victoria for an overnight to board the ship the next morning. Our cruise will be heading down the CA coastline to LA, then on through the Panama Canal to Tampa. At least, those are my thoughts. Would this be possible?

Enjoy that San Pedro to Tampa. We did that one in Oct 2022 onboard Serenade and loved it.

I also can recommend the Hampton Inn and Suites. Staying there again in March 2025 .Also Residence Inn and Embassy Suites  are also fine , but a bit more money.

Been to Ruby Tuesdays several times and it was fine.  It was closed the last time we were there.  IHOP is fine for breakfast  but dinner was awful.

We'll be staying there again but in Oct 2025.

IHOP breakfast for dinner is always a good choice there.

We returned the car, got in the shuttle and were on our way within in minutes along with two other parties on the same cruise.  I was a little concerned we'd have to wait for the shuttle when we pulled up because there about 20 people milling around the office but we got right on the shuttle.  I don't know what those other people were waiting for, maybe ubers or something.

We've used this Avis/Budget location a few times recently and had good experiences.

We rent through Costco for some great pricing.

From the Hyatt, cross the divided street and walk behind the ES; it opens onto the roadway into Harbor Shops. There's Total Wines and Publix there. Download the publix App and enter your phone # to use at check out for some lower pricing. The supermarket also carries lots of travel size items and wines. Great dessert selection. Total is next door.

There are sports bars in the shopping area. Mezzaluna is across the Hyatt Parking lot - excellent foods. Or walk out onto main street, cross at the traffic light and head down Cordova into another shopping plaza if you want great traditional New England seafood  - Kelly's Landing. Lots of other seafood restaurants in the area - the Hyatt staff can give you specifics.

We walk out the side door of Hyatt Place...cross the street and walk through a parking structure. Agree it couldn't be easier.
