We were in this same room Nov 26 to Dec 3. Agree, Christopher and Peter were very helpful. We didn't have any of the weather issues you had, and we were able to see the erupting volcano from the ship - it was an awesome once-in-a-lifetime experience. We had no wait at any of the dining venues so maybe they have increased capacity, which was only 40% when we went.
