  1. What we found is to get the YC, you must lose 15k. Then you will get a cert for a YC1 for up to 10 days on any sailing if you cross that threshold. There's nothing more if you lose more than the 15k however so no incentive to keep pushing after that.
  2. My MIL recently took my nephew on a Bahamas cruise on RCCL and they demanded a notarized letter or were going to deny boarding since it was her grandson and no parents were travelling. He was 17 when this happened. We just happen to have a notary in the family, so we got it done and sent it in via email to the port but otherwise they were going to turn them away. When we've traveled with DH's daughter who is much younger on Carnival (before nephew's experience), we were not asked for the same, but we had a text message that we planned to use if needed as proof that we had permission even though we knew it wasn't really "official". I've heard that it makes a difference if it's a biological parent traveling vs nonparent, but I think it comes down to the whims of the agent and the day. I've also heard that if you're going to Mexico they tend to be more strict...but again, that's simply anecdotal.
  3. Hi all! We are avid YC cruisers and love the product. My mom has done exactly one Carnival cruise in her life (and she liked it), and we want to treat her to the best (and our fave). Part of the reason I want to take her on YC particularly, is the service. She's been dealing with recent health issues that have made her immune system not quite as robust, and her mobility isn't what it used to be. I've never really looked at the spaces from this perspective as this is new for us all. We're specifically considering taking her on the MSC Seaside. My understanding is that it is contained all in the front like Mera, so she won't have to traverse the whole ship to get to the Top Sail, restaurant or One Pool. If she needed help with things like disembarking to a particular port, would we be able to get a wheelchair? She can get around some, doesn't currently rely on any mobility aids, but on a bad day, I'd prefer to know she wouldn't be stuck on the ship when Ocean Cay is waiting. I appreciate any insight you can offer. Ps: The other line we're considering is Celebrity, but just a regular room, not Retreat. I'm really worried that's just too overwhelming with size and crowds. It seems like we've been very unlucky with getting sick any time we cruise outside YC.

  5. Hi all- my lovely husband is currently doing a solo cruise and has decided to stay on board for the following cruise. He booked it at Next Cruise while on board. My question is...does he need to do online check in for the second (new) cruise? Our email is getting bombarded with reminders and he said the people at guest services didn't seem to know anything about it when he asked what to do. So fellow cruisers, has anyone encountered this? Experiences appreciated. Thank you!

  7. Hi everyone! I'm trying to get my husband checked in for his solo cruise, and the app is doing something weird. When I open the app, it prompts me to put in last name, DOB and then the booking number. When I do that, I get an error message that says I need to try again later. I went ahead and checked him in online the old fashioned way, but we really love the ease of using the app. Is there an operator error I'm making here and I could correct so that it will work again? I've tried closing out the app and shutting down the phone but just keeps doing it. Thanks everyone!
  8. Hi everyone. I have tried researching this without any luck so I’m hopeful someone here will know. I have a very sensitive digestive system and can’t drink many alcoholic drinks without suffering shortly thereafter, but discovered on Reflection last fall one drink I tolerated really well. I assumed I could find the recipe online no problem…but no. I have looked and looked, and cannot find the Scorpio drink from the Sky Lounge. All I really remember was that it had coconut water and lime. Does anyone know the drink I speak of? If you have a recipe, I’d be forever grateful. Thank you all!
  9. Hi all, We had to cancel a cruise in mid-December of last year, and I don't recall seeing the taxes and port fees show back up on our credit card. We had travel insurance and they have reimbursed us on that portion of it, but that isn't supposed to include the taxes, correct? It's our first time having travel insurance and actually using it. How long should we wait to see this credit show up? It's right at 300 dollars. Thank you!
  10. Hey everyone, It's been a crummy day. The hubs got rear-ended tonight and it totaled his car. Luckily he's okay, just shook up. But…we're supposed to be cruising tomorrow. We see no way that we'll be able to board tomorrow with insurance claims and needing to see if he's physically okay. We were booked in a YC cabin for a 2 night cruise. Is there anything MSC will do to help us? We never used our "one free cruise change" but I know technically...its not 30 days out. He had a second booking for Sunday to extend the cruise (with a new booking number) and he's hoping to be able to go then. Will that cause any issues by not showing up tomorrow? I've reached out to my TA but not yet heard back. At least telling him he can still cruise Sunday might bring him a bit of joy. Appreciate any and all help.
  11. Hi All! We are getting ready to board for the weekend and the hubs just mentioned there’s some good NFL games on. Anyone who’s been on recently, was there anywhere good to watch the games? Are they showing them on the lido? Sports bar? I know it seems like a strange question, but really wanting to see the titans dominate the jags. Thanks all!
  12. I had a similar problem, but I think it was because we were booked with a TA. She was able to mail me the tickets. The one cruise not booked with the TA, it took 24 hours after requesting for it to eventually show up.
  13. Hey everyone, Just curious if people are still having trouble getting their tickets/boarding documents. I think I read here a couple weeks ago that people weren't receiving them after online check-in and I'm running into the same issue. Did anyone find a workaround so that you don't have to risk customer service screwing up your reservations? When I get to the last screen, it keeps saying that the information is incomplete so the documents aren't ready, but I have green checkmarks beside each passenger and completed every blank I can fill out. I am well under 20 days before sailing, so I should be able to print these. Thanks all.
  14. Hi all. First time doing a back to back, and curious how this will work. For the first cruise, I'm doing the regular Bella experience, and then for the second leg, I'll be YC. Is there a way to let them know I'm back to back, or does it just show up on the system? I booked one of them just recently and the other a long time ago as I just had my schedule open up. I'll obviously be moving to a new cabin, but do I have to completely disembark and re-enter through customs since I'm on a different booking number? Looking forward to it, just dawned on me that I have no clue how this works.

  16. Hi all! My SO is getting ready to start a big adventure in 4 B2Bs next month. When this was booked, one cabin (on the shortest cruise of the bunch- 2 night) is next door to the cabin he's booked in the rest of the month. Our TA has tried for months and months to get MSC to switch him to be in a consistent room for the entire time but has had no luck. He wasn't emotionally attached to the room, he just didn't want to have to move after such a short time but they couldn't seem to find any cabin that was open across the sailings. Do you think there's any ability to fix this once we're on board? He's in a regular YC balcony, so it's not a unique cabin. I can't look at the floorplans for the entire month as it just keeps showing me YC guarantee instead of open cabins. Hard to think they might actually be full for every sailing all month- the trip reports here have indicated that's not reality. Anything else we can do? Pay the people in the cabin 100 bucks to switch? Yes, we know the butler can move him, but still....not ideal start. Thanks all.

  18. Hi from Barcelona. Can’t believe it was 18 hours ago I posted this. I’m currently on hold (40 minutes then disconnected, 15 minutes in on call 2 now) trying to get this sorted out, because now they’ve sent an email cancelling our excursion that we really want to do. The app still shows were reserved or I’d just rebook and pay and deal with it on the ship. Anybody else hear of such?

  20. No TA but I do have the invoice that shows we each have 400 of OBC for being retreat guests. Am I safe to wait and handle this once on board Monday?

I just received a weird email from celebrity saying due to a recent change to our cruise reservation, some purchases made with OBC are no longer paid in full, I need to pay 447 dollars by phone before 10/31. We actually had leftover OBC, and only booked one excursion with it. I logged into my account and it shows a zero balance, We’re traveling today so don’t really have a lot of time to figure this out. Anybody seen this before? We’re staying I retreat so we had 800 OBC and had used a part of it, but planned to book some specialty dining once on board. Should I worry? Getting on our long haul international now…
  22. @mnpurple If you're looking for DIvina vlogs, also check out Kyle Pallo. He and a friend did a pretty decent vlog of a short three night cruise, and they weren't in YC. He was positive and upbeat too. I love seeing Divina shown off...she's not the newest, she's not the biggest, but she's a wonderful ship!
  23. As a huge fan of the Divina YC and Parodeejay, I would say don't base anything going "downhill" from their YouTube series they did. A big part of the YC allure (at least to me) is the personalized service, and I did not feel like they captured that very well. Perhaps the staff requested to not be filmed, perhaps they were shy about being pampered, or it was just plain weird and awkward since it was a big unexpected free upgrade. I also think they go out of their way to be for the "every man" and some of their subscribers gave them grief about the upgrade and that "normal people can't afford it" (even though we know it can be affordable!) so that could have influenced what they did/showed. Dee did cry at the end of the series about how nice the people were, and that was understandable, but I don't know that the captured the essence of YC and what its like on a daily basis. They said they have another planned YC cruise, so it will be different to see if they change now that they've been through YC once and know what to expect (and they're paying for it!)
  24. Hi all. Hopefully a kind-of easy question about going from surf to stream (do they even use those anymore, lol?). My husband is sapphire in the casino, and one of the benefits on the chart is that you get 1 device with Xcelerate High Speed Internet. Does that mean the slower wifi or is it actually stream? He received an offer that included the beverage package and the internet, but is that because it was associated with his tier or just because of his play? Who would he talk to on board about getting it sorted out? He thinks he will have to pay the full price to upgrade because he needs the faster internet but I would think he'd be entitled to some sort of partial credit. You know how it goes when you call and try to ask questions...Thanks everyone!
  25. Got a little more info…I guess the only retreat level suites left are “Magic Carpet” suites…per the TA. She’s supposed to be getting some more info, but any opinions on these?
