  1. Absolutely no question in my mind the medallion is primarily for data mining.  It is the world we live in today.  I resisted getting all of those little key ring store tags because it bothered me how they would be used. It was so annoying every single time I shopped at CVS.

    Do you have your tag

No I don't have one thank you

Ok here is one for you

    No thank you

All you have to do is...

    NO THANKS

    But ...

    Ring me up please.

I finally gave up and got one.

That said I have come to accept this and am looking forward to my first medallion experience in 9 days 22 hours and 34 minutes.

I also think it is a good safety feature for man overboard.  They will be able to say exactly where and when they stopped receiving a signal.

Thanks!  It is actually for the May 18 cruise (so keep her in tip top shape for me flgojo 🙂 )

We book thru a TA, would all upgrades/upsell offers need to go thru him? If not, I will give Princess a call today.

Regardless, we will be very happy to be on the ship and will enjoy every minute whether from our own private balcony or from a public deck. Nothing beats staring at the ocean!!

You might have been able to do a back to back for almost the cost of that upgrade but I imagine you have flights to consider.

  3. Is this for the May 14th just out of dry dock?   We actually got upgraded from ocean view to a balcony cabin.  First upgrade ever!  But I have still been watching all the empty cabins and wondering if we could go to a mini suite.  Prices dropped a few weeks ago but then bounced back up again. I would call them and see what happens, kind of like what kind of a deal can you make me ?

Help me with this one, so what I understand with the medallion you can locate your fellow cruise mate?  I really enjoyed my casino time 'alone' often telling DH that I was going to an evening show.  Somehow along the way I would turn right (into the casino) and not Left to the evening show.  I would never reveal my casino winnings (though I did purchase him an Effy upgraded diamond wedding ring with such winnings, and we did get a players discounted rate on our next booking), nor would he see casino charges on the room account.  This gal uses cash. :-).   So - now that i'm 'tracked' - whats the game plan?  🙂 .  Im chuckling thinking - do I go to the show - hand the bartender my medallion and say 'cover me for an hour or two'.. then track him down later?  Ok - i'm having fun with this, but if I say 'i'm going to the casino' he wants to be done/back after 20 minutes.

Luckily my traveling companion is right there in the casino with me and I am thinking it will help me find her when the casino is crowded.  I wonder if putting it in an rfid wallet would block your location?

Oh the excitement grows! Have fun!!!!!!

    I enjoyed this a ridiculous amount :classic_biggrin:

I do believe they are spending the money not for replacing a key card but for the tracking ability in the case of "falling" from the ship or needing to locate someone on the ship in case of emergency.

I am on that cruise too.  I did not know about the dry dock when I booked but would have anyway because Mom doesn't like to go for a week.  I have decided to just hope for the best.  Worst case we don't go and transfer the payment to our 3 day on the Sky next December.  I admit I am hoping it doesn't sell well and we get an upgrade.here

I left here and had an email upgraded to a balcony woohoo!

We stay up late so we often don't get up early for breakfast in MDR. My wife likes to make it to the Knitters and Natters meeting so when she leaves for that I get coffee and such. Generally it's way too late for MDR breakfast by the time we get it together. :classic_wacko:

Ha! Opposite, I start work at 0530 and naturally an early riser.  The other thing I really look forward to is afternoon tea.  Another reason I changed to late seating.

If you go to the buffet be sure to go all the way through to the Steamers and Planks areas. That's where you get cooked to order eggs and omelets. Also very different lunch options than in the "main" part of the buffet. We did 2 weeks on CB in March and most passengers didn't seem to realize you could go on back there and have different options that were available in the main part of the buffet.

We had ATD but I'm pretty sure that Traditional Dining was in the Palm Dining Room - all the way aft on Fiesta Deck (deck 6)

We almost always go to the dining room but I have read a lot of good things about the CP buffet so we may try it one morning.

Island DR, deck 5 mid ship, is used for ATD beginning at 5pm.

Coral DR, deck 6 mid ship, is used for very early TD, ATD starting around 7:30pm and Club Class Dining

Palm DR, deck 6 aft, is used for early and late TD. To access the Palm DR you must go up to deck 7 or higher, walk all the way aft and then take the stairs or elevator to deck 6.

We also enjoyed the expanded selections at Slices (pizza & more) and the Salty Dog Grill (burgers and other items plus the Enersto Burger with a $5 surcharge).

For production shows you need to get to the theater 45 mins. early for seats, other shows around 30 mins. early. The mid evening show was simulcast in Explorer's Lounge. With the new dining times since we were on board earlier this year show times may have changed.

We usually do early dining but it's just too early now so I requested late this time.  Thanks for the info on the other venues, they sound good.  Last year we really enjoyed Alfredos so I was a little disappointed this ship doesn't have it.

  11. I am cruising on the Caribbean Princess in May, I was wondering which dining rooms are for traditional dining?  We are on the Plaza Deck so I thought it would be so nice and convenient if we were in the Island Dining Room.  We are doing Traditional Dining.  Anyone with any particular likes about the Caribbean Princess in general?

  12. I am a law enforcement dispatcher and have some experience finding lost alzheimers patients. If he doesn't already have it get him a medic alert bracelet with his name and contact information for his regular caregiver. I would also then add specific info for this cruise maybe with his cruise card in his lanyard. It would probably be a good idea to alert security of his issues when he boards.

Off topic, for at home check with your local law enforcement some have free bracelet programs with or without tracking. We have both programs where I work we can put the information on the bracelet in the computer and have all needed info on the person. The tracking bracelets are amazing when people wander but would not be available on a cruise ship.

  13. Something I read here on CC, but haven't actually done yet. At dinner in MDR, don't actually order anything. Just tell the waiter to bring whatever they want, appetizer, soup, salad, entree, dessert, whatever.....let the waiter pick the meal!

That sounds like fun but I am way to picky of an eater.

  14. I had a great experience at Jamie's so it has to come out on top. The service from Julianna was five star. We enjoyed dinner so much we went back for lunch. For the free venues I enjoyed Chic the most as the menu had the most items that appealed to me. I wish we had gone back a second night.

I was a little disappointed with The Grande, service was okay but nothing special on the first visit and just bare minimum service on the second.

We ate several meals at American Icon when you take into account breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service ranged from average to excellent though consistently pretty slow.
