If it is implemented, and your cruise is already paid in full, will the cruise line send a bill for money still owed due to the increase?
I’m pretty sure I had a cruise recently whose port fees increased and I ended up having to pay that few dollars extra, but I can’t remember how the payment happened.
I know the charge from Mexico wouldn’t be port fees but I’m just wondering if it did go in effect how it would work for those already paid in full for their cruise…. Email from the cruise line “sorry, yeah I know we said you were paid in full but you’re not now, my bad, you now still owe another $280.”
🤪
Not cool!

If found the following article at Fox News.com
Mexico to impose tax for cruise ship visitors starting in 2025
Don't know if we can opt to skip Mexico. We stay on the ship. On our last few cruises to the Caribbean, we stayed on the ship due to State department warnings.

I read about the new $42 charge in Fox News. Since all cruise from Galveston stop at Cozumel, this is a big interest to us. Also, we've been known to go to Cozumel then Costa Maya. Does that mean we're getting charged that $42 for each Mexican stop? This charge seems too high to me since a similar charge for Amsterdam is just $8.
I couldn't figure anything out on the Royal Caribbean.com since they're now including port fees in their overall price.

Are the shore excursions they listed on the find cruises the only ones offered? DH isn't impressed, and threatening to cancel.
-
I checked with the cruiseline, and they said they want $500 flat rate airfare. Also, to upgrade, we must pay a $100 administrative fee, plus the difference. No, guarantee we'll about reaching the ship if our flight is delayed.
What's the upside of booking airfare through ACL?
-
Is there a webpage at ACL where we can pick our airfare?
-
Can we ask our TA for an itemized receipt?

Thanks, we will check them out. I think I also bought some water bottles in Iceland. We had a tour guide that told us to buy a bottle of water, then refill it at any faucet in Iceland, and it would be good.
We can't pick one up at a bar with the Elite Beverage Package?

The shore excursion people had drinks for sale when we gathered in the world stage to get our excursion stickers. They had those nice metal water cans that had the screw tops. I bought one and used it for several days.
Are these what you mean? White can with blue wavy lines on the front, with the caption, "more ocean,
less plastic" and "still water" and "open water." I thought they were like soft drink cans with a pop tab. How much did they sell for?
I saw a photo from Office Depot that showed something like a pop tab. But others in the shape of bottles.

As requested from May 2024: Minibar Price List
Thank you!

Anybody have a minibar menu? We're hoping to find some bottled water we can take for shore excursions. And I think the HAL only sells the canned water that we can't close.

May both me and DH get an AARP discount?

Thanks for the replies. I’m hoping that if HAL cancels tenders that the reputable tour agencies will understand our need for a No Show and not charge us.
Greenland is much further north than Bar Harbor. So, more ice flow. The time they cancelled all ship tours was October.

Usually passengers with ship tours go first. But I think if you're a suite or a lot of stars, that may be different. As a 4 star, I don't remember being told to report to a different place. We don't take tenders often anymore. I think passengers get the tender tickets at the passenger desk, then they announce them. At some point, they announce no tender tickets needed.
Having gone on mostly ship tours, sometimes we've had a long wait. This is all ports, not just Bar Harbor.
When we were in Greenland, the captain cancelled all tender rides. That's after several tenders had gone out. He managed to get them back. He put extra crew on the boat to spot the icebergs.
Oops, I thought I was in the Canada/New England/Iceland thread. Sorry.
-
Once we arrived on land, we were told they had cancelled all ship tours due to weather. We had trouble getting back once. Once we had to transfer to another vessel, climb some stairs then step onto the ship. We heard it was supposed to make the tender experience better, but it didn't for us.
Might be worth it. Bar Harbor is beautiful! Eat some popovers at Jordan Pond House.

Skagway can be either depending on how many ships are in port and where you get to dock
Ketchikan had a bunch of ships during one of our trips, plus one ship that tendered.
-
You never really know about tender ports, because last fall, they turned Skagway Alaska into a tender port.
On our first Voyage of the Vikings, they turned Isafourger into a pier port.

Do the Business and First Class Airfare also have flat rates?

Who picks the flights? Who picks the seats?

We're in 6224, and it's totally fine, unless you are on the balcony. There are two US outlets and an EU outlet on the desk. As far as I can tell, there is nothing by the bed. And it looks like there is a USB in the table lamp.
Thank you! The room description at HAL.com said not all rooms can receive WiFi. And we got the package that includes WiFi. Perhaps they may need to update. A while back, we were on the Sapphire Princess and our suite was supposed to have WiFi included, but we seldom could connect.
-
Is there a good WIFI signal in 6228? Also, how many power outlets in the room?
-
I don't understand why they don't add outlets during refurbishments.
-
It's available on the Volendam. I loaded it into the cart, but it doesn't look like they're giving me my 4* discount.
It's only available on one evening.

Are they also charging the crew that extra $42 fee?
