  1. Hello. I am a first-time Carnival cruiser and am going on the Magic on Sunday. I have seen copies of showtimes posted on CC. I was wondering if I should plan to be at the venue in time for the “pre-show fun” in order to get a good seat for the main show. Thanks for your help!
  2. “I passed through ATL this weekend. So I decided to conduct a little experiment to see how long it would realistically take to go from one gate to another.” Thank you so much, Tapi, for doing this. Very interesting! While I know it’s possible to make the connection, for my peace of mind, I’m glad I changed it to SLC. It costs me a little time, but no $, and I like my odds better! Thanks to everyone who contributed their thoughts!
  3. Thank you so much! I feel good about the flight change. 😊
  4. I decided to switch the flight to connect in SLC. Thanks so much for your help!
  5. What time is your FLL flight? Are you docking at Port of Miami or Port Everglades? If you give us this information we can better assist you. FYI.....We just changed a 36 minute ATL connection with ease last week and didn't even tell them we are both seniors with recent knee surgeries. My flight is at 7:30, but it’s the day after the ship docks, so no issues there, at least! Thanks for sharing your experience. We also made a tight connection in Atlanta once. Delta once changed my Atlanta connection to 20 minutes. Before I was smart enough to know I could ask for a change, I thought “well, they must think it’s possible or they wouldn’t have done that”. Our connecting flight was delayed or we wouldn’t have made it. You just never know. All I’m trying to do is predict the future. Lol!!!
  6. Unfortunately, we are on the first flight to Atlanta already. 😞 That’s a good thought, though.
  7. Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your responses! I’ll let you know what I decide.
  8. So, my optimal flight home to Tucson from FLL in February has been changed, creating a 36 minute layover in Atlanta. I know I can request a change, but the choices are less than ideal. Here are my options: 1) keep the flight as is (undesirable as we would probably miss the connection) 2) switch to a 1 hour connection in Salt Lake City (undesirable, as I try to avoid cold weather cities in winter) 3) switch to a flight with 2 stops-Atlanta and LAX (undesirable as a 7 hour trip becomes an 11 hour trip) 4) switch to a late afternoon/night flight with 1 stop in Atlanta with reasonable connection time (undesirable in that we don’t land till 10:15 and we are 2 senior ladies inconveniencing another senior for a ride home) I am tempted to leave it as is and hope for the best. Does anyone know if a refund is an option? I would love to choose another airline. Thanks for your help.
  9. Your assumption is correct.
  10. The market referred to above is for souvenirs/merchandise, not food.
  11. I like Hampton Inn in Cocoa Beach because I like being close to the beach. It makes me feel like i’m really on vacation. It has a pool, WiFi and free breakfast. I’ve stayed there twice and would do so again in a heartbeat.
  12. It is also President’s Day weekend. I booked the Saturday of that weekend for $233 at the Riverside Hotel in Las Olas. It’s been a while though. I don’t know if that price is still available.
  13. I didn’t find it cumbersome to stop for the tolls. I think there were 2 or 3 stops. By having exact change, I was the only car in the lane each time. Maybe other people didn’t know about that option that day. I used the toll calculator just now to find that the cost is $5 total if paying cash, so it is much cheaper than the transponder with the convenience fee. It’s probably a personal preference: convenience vs cost. I don’t like getting charges from a car rental company after I get home. Maybe that’s just me. As as far as “beachy” places, you are heading inland as you go towards MCO, so I think you would need to go to the beach near the port or head to Cocoa Beach. Don’t know about restaurants. Maybe someone else can chime in with that.
  14. I’ve used Avis. Not the closest, but I would definitely use them again. Yes, it is a toll road to Orlando. Make sure you don’t bypass the toll booths. It almost looks like you’re exiting the toll road to pass through the toll booths, but you’re not. (Those with electronic passes go through as through traffic.) Also, they have a lane for exact change, which gets you through a bit faster. I have rented a car and gone to Disney once after a cruise and taken a ship’s excursion to Kennedy Space Center with airport drop off once after a cruise. Both were fun options. Hope you have a great time!
  15. The bungalows are at Columbus Cove. I don’t know about the cabanas because they were out of my price range. You might be able to read the descriptions on the cruise planner to understand the differences.
  16. Has anyone done the tour that includes the cable car? That’s the one that interests me. Thanks in advance for your feedback!
  17. The bungalows have a max of 8 people. I got lucky with my group of 10 arriving in 2 groups, with 2 different people checking us in. The first attendant seemed like he was going to be strict regarding the limit and my husband and I were prepared to sit out. But before I knew what was happening, the rest of the 10 were let in by the other attendant. To answer your questions from the other post: yes, we all had wristbands, and, you reserve the bungalows on the cruise planner. There are only eight of them and they sold out quickly, but I kept watching and someone must have canceled, because I was eventually able to book one. I think the only way to guarantee 10 people getting in is to book 2 bungalows. We shared the 2 float mats. It worked out okay.

  19. Don’t forget that if your ship leaves at 3, you have to be on board by 2:30. Sounds a little tight to me, but maybe that’s just me. I’m the one at the airport 2 hours early always. Lol!
  20. Yes, at Columbus Cove, they are called bungalows. We rented one in February. They come with bottled water, 2 float mats and attendants to bring drinks (charged to your sea pass unless you have a package). They are close to one of the buffet stations. There are only 8 of them, so perhaps they are sold out. You can keep watching your cruise planner and see if any become available. We had a wonderful time relaxing with our family there.
  21. We like Columbus Cove. It is beautiful and not rocky.
  22. I had the same red notice on my reservations for August and September. I called to ask the same questions you had. I found out I was not affected by the MAX 8 issue. The agent informed me that Southwest was giving EVERYONE with reservations made prior to a certain date a chance to change their flights for free. It is a goodwill gesture. I wish they would have explained it better on their website. It caused me a few anxious moments and time making a call that was unnecessary. I’m probably not going to change my flights, btw. Lol!
  23. The other noise factor with the drawbridge is the loud road noise that tires make crossing the top part of the bridge. We spent an entire evening sitting outside watching the boats in the intercoastal waterway and every vehicle that crossed the bridge made that noise. I think that would have bothered me in a room on that side of the hotel. Just my thoughts, being a very light sleeper. 😊
