  1. Didn't know if the Windjammer or other restaurants would be open while at Cocoa Cay. thanks.
  2. thanks, Bob. Also, now that there will be dock, does anyone know if we can go back on the ship for lunch? thanks
  3. Will we be able to find shade if we don't reserve a cabana? thanks
  4. SamFritz I am so sorry for your loss and what you are going through.
  5. Another vote for Blexie. Roly was our tour guide and we had the most amazing day with him!
  6. Another vote for Havana Tours with Blexie... we toured with his associate Roly a few weeks ago and had an incredible day. You can find Blexie on facebook as Blexie-Havana Tours or email him at blexie100588@gmail.com. Give him a few days to respond. He's trying to keep pace with the changes.

    Attire in Cuba

You said for sight seeing.... There may be restaurants where shorts are not appropriate for dinner. And I believe they are a "no" for the Tropicana.

    Attire in Cuba

Yes. And I also suggest sneakers - much easier for all of the walking than sandals.
  9. We used Roly from Havana Tours with Blexie. Had the most amazing day!!! His English is perfect. You can find Blexie on facebook or email. blexie100588@gmail.com. He may take some time to respond, but they were extremely reliable and punctual.
  10. Been following this thread and want to suggest that anyone looking to tour privately reach out to Blexie and book a tour. You can print out a "confirmation" from your email or facebook. I reached him through facebook. We toured with his associate Roly, who was simply amazing and so much fun to hang out with for the day! See tripadvisor Havana Tours with Blexie.

    NCL Sky question

Sure - we toured with Roly (Rolando) from Havana Tours with Blexie. I absolutely recommend him!!! It was an amazing day!!! Also - some suggestions: wear sneakers to walk around Havana, much easier than walking the streets there in sandals. I also brought a few paper toilet seat covers in my bag and a pack of tissues in case we needed any pit stops. And I recommend a visit to the Partagas Cigar Factory. We also wandered the Univ. of Havana and met some students who showed us around. Feel free to ask any questions. Have a great time whenever you go!!! Everyone was so friendly. :)
  12. Ship - Sky Deck - 10 Stateroom # - 0254 Stateroom Category – balcony Starboard or Port Side - starboard Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – yes, with the exception of some screaming children in the hall and children running above. The nearby staircase was not an issue. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – great view Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - small but sufficient Was wind a problem? - no If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - The public areas of the ship are in much better shape than the cabin was. It shows a lot of signs of wear, esp. in the bathroom. But the mattress seemed new and the cabin steward did a great job. Any other comments? - I would recommend this cabin to others.
  13. We took this suggestion and went to Legendarios del Guajiroto. The food was fair. Drinks were ok. The show was very entertaining. There is audience participation. Thanks for the help.

    NCL Sky question

To update this thread: We just returned from the Sky to Cuba. They are no longer giving out tickets for departure from the ship. You just go down to whatever deck the exit is (5? 6? I forget) once it's announced that you can leave the ship. It took us about a half an hour, maybe a little more, to go through the terminal, show passports and visas, exchange money, use the bathroom, and leave the terminal. The bathroom in the terminal is pretty bad. For the person above asking about drinks - you don't even sign for them. You just ask for a drink and they hand it to you :) (and we didn't go to the casino)
