Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Agree, low budget but clean always good
  2. The issues regarding UK and EC entry do not change if you are a citizen of another country. As UK is no longer an EC country, its citizens are treated as being from outside Europe so if you are from outside Europe already, you will not be treated any differently as an individual than you always have.
  3. I have done this many times but the choice as to which cruise it is used for has always been mine. If I book 2 cruises together, eg. 1 being a 10 day in an inside and the other a 16 day balcony, the difference in OBC for 2 people is $150 dollars. Why shouldn't I choose rather than them? Shouldn't there be a mention of what they are doing in the T & Cs?
  4. Thanks for that. Online bookings with no human involved and no provisions for my wishes (or non wishes) to be put forward. It seems strange that they match up one name with the FCD arrangement but not the other. The booking required me to put full names, dates of birth and Captain's Circle Numbers but it still chose just the one. I have sent details to Customer Services and wait for the response.
  5. I am not a newbie, have done 37 cruises with Princess and have done many using FCDs. In September 2022, I paid 2 x FCD (self and wife) to use against a future cruise. I wanted to use the benefit of the OBC on a longer cruise with a balcony cabin to maximise the amount I get. We booked insides for a 10 day for March next year and another 16 day afterwards. Princess decided to use my wife's FCD for the 10 day but not mine which was not considered at all. I did not ask them to do this and they didn't tell me it was done. If fact, the deposit part was not used at all as it was a special £1 deposit promotion. My intention was always to find a better offer and cancel them so losing only £1 deposit. We were then offered balcony cabins for the same trips through a TA and Princess decided to use my FCD for the longer trip to give me a $100 OBC. Again, I paid a deposit so the pre-paid deposit was not used. I was OK with that so long as the deposit I had paid was taken off the final payment. I wondered mhy they did not do the same with my wife's FCD which was when I discovered they had used it on the prior booking, which was when I was trying to cancel that booking and lose my £1 deposit. Is this a change? Does Princess now choose which cruises to use the FCD rather than that right be retained by the purchaser? I have seen nothing in any terms and conditions saying this will be done.
  6. I was kinda aware of that but the 7 sums appearing on my credit card are actually now charges, not holds. Having held 7 different amounts, surely technology is sufficiently advanced for Princess to work out that I didn't owe them anything but they owed me
  7. On my last cruise (Regal 15 to 29 January 2023), I had various amounts 'held' against my credit card. It seemed that every time I went to the bar, they put another hold for relatively small amounts ($3.54, $4.37 up to $17.12 - 7 holds altogether totalling £132.64.) When I disembarked, my account said I owed them $76.32. Back 2 weeks and the 7 amounts they held are now charged on the credit card. I still have not received any refund. I suppose it's one way to reduce the massive debt Carnival has but the onus is now on me to chase it down. Anyone else had this?
  8. On our B2B on Regal 2 weeks ago, I brought wine and beer on during port stops twice. Nobody seemed bothered. It's the whisky and vodka they are interested in. Don't forget, f you take on too many at the start of the cruise or each time you go back to the original port between each cruise, if they take it off you, they will let you have it back on the last night of the cruise. So you get it for the next cruise anyway.
  9. Just got off the Regal. We had Lagunitas but bar and waiting staff were sometimes unaware. I went to a bar where they had some and the person in charge overheard me say "They don't have this in the Wheelhouse Bar". She immediately went to that bar to remind them where it was.
  10. Limits on luggage weights have taught many to pack sparingly. I don't know whether you bring stuff to impress others or to be decent. Many years ago, I decided that I did not want to impress people I would never see again. Clothes for dinner/evenings are, in my case, worn for 4 hours maximum each day in air conditioning. I do not sweat and am not a messy eater. I see nothing wrong with wearing the same shirt and pants for 2/3 evenings. If 3 evenings, the total time spent wearing these items will be no or little more than a standard working day but in conditions much more tolerable temperature wise. I take a pair of sneakers, a pair of leather shoes and flip flops for the pool. My wife has not yet complained.
