Free is definitely not free when you add in air, hotels, tips etc.  just the Mexican riviera cruise was going to cost us $1,700 Cdn before even boarding.

works pretty well  for some. I paid $145 for taxes and port fees and got issued $125 obc yesterday for some issues with ordering drink packages and wifi before i board tommorrow. luckily i live 15 minutes from san pedro.

Once again - why does HAL make all this so complicated and difficult and why are they seemingly unable to get all of their staff to follow one set of protocols?  Never mind the fact that they are the ONLY mainstream line to count non-alcoholic beverages towards a daily limit.  Sister lines Princess and Carnival - 15 alcoholic, unlimited non-alcoholic.  Celebrity, Royal, NCL no limit on # of drinks per day whether alcoholic or non-alcoholic.  HAL is non-competitive as a result of bad and inconsistent policies/procedures.

I love the HAL product but WILL NOT sail with them again until they fix this issue.

It really is a buzz kill (he he)

Only reason why I'm cruising HAL next month is because I got an awesome casino deal that I couldn't pass up. But their beverage policy will certainly push me away from booking future HAL cruises.

So people who strive to reach platinum by staying with Carnival get ….. a luggage tag. People like me that that sail multiple lines and  have only sailed Carnival twice got the $200 cabin offer for the Panroama 7 day Mexican river Cruise for august ….. while platinums didn’t. Makes sense …..

Not necessarily the case for everyone.

I have no favorite line I go with the price and itinerary. I am Platinum with Carnival and too have the same deal

On Holland America I also have a similar deal.

Any cruise line favors casino players immensely.

Just took a look at a marine traffic site (https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-118.5/centery:33.7/zoom:7) which not only shows the Grand at Puerto Vallarta, but looking around I also spotted the Majestic at La Paz, The Ruby off the coast near the U.S./Mexico border and the Royal cruising North about halfway between Cabo and Ensenada with a destination listed as L.A.

And based on a post from another thread, the Caribbean is currently docked at Ft. Lauderdale

Ruby and Emerald are both anchored off the coast of Long Beach at this time close to Carnival Panorama. A little further out shore we have Carnival Miracle and NCL Jewel anchored as well.

Ships are definitely stretching their legs.

I can easily fly from SJC to LGB and my Mother was born in LB on Studebaker Rd  across from El Dorado Park so I am familiar with the area and plan to stay in this Queen Mary next door and dune at Parker's Lighthouse.

As a LB resident, I can say the future of the Queen Mary is not looking well.

The operator of the QM filed for bankruptcy last month. The Ship is deteriorating as well due to poor maintenance.

We (3 couples) sailed for 15 days from Long Beach to Hawaii and then back.  It was a very nice cruise but the 4 sea days on the return were a bit much.  Both dh and I were sick and were ready to get home to the East Coast.  The 4 days dragged on.

I'm looking at a 14 day to Alaska but there are only a couple of sea days and it's port intensive so that may work better for us.

The 15 Day Hawaii cruises are not worth it. You use up half of your vacation time in just sea days. As someone who gets 3 weeks of PTO a year I like to use my time wisely.
