  1. This short video was taken near Deception Island on a cruise to South America and Antarctica on the Coral Princess in late December 2019. VID_20191229_070951.mp4
  2. Our June 20 cruise to Alaska was cancelled by Princess before final payment. Our deposit was in the form of a FCD. We had booked restricted EZ Air and paid Princess the airfare cost last February. We weren't sure if we would get this money refunded or not. The airline has no record of our reservation so we were hopeful we would get a refund from Princess. We were pleased that we received a refund of the airfare from Princess back to our credit card yesterday. We also got our FCDs credited back to our Captain Circle accounts.
  3. It is painful to cancel. This has not been the best of times for so many reasons. But we will get through it. Hoping for cruises in the future and good health.
  4. I think my favorite port stop was in the Falkland Islands. I LOVED the excursion to Bluff Cove to see the penguins and enjoy tea and treats at the cafe. It was such a highlight for me. As far as my favorite part of Antarctica... I don't know. Maybe Charlotte Bay where we saw countless whales and pristine beauty. But, everything we saw in our antarctic cruising was amazing ... from Elephant Island shrouded in fog, to the amazing ice bergs, to Paradise Harbor, which was so gorgeous. I wish we had been able to explore Deception Island, but that was derailed by weather. The other thing to note is that the lectures were really superb. We probably went to two lectures a day for several days learning so much about the geographic, history and exploration of Antarctica. Finally, crossing the Drake passage was also a highlight and the iconic Cape Horn was really quite astonishing to see. It really was a fantastic experience. I am so glad we were able to take the cruise. It was definitely something very special.
  5. Good luck, Cruisequeen4ever. This was the best cruise we have ever been on. We are sad to have had to cancel two cruises this summer. But, we are hopeful we will all be able to continue cruising in the future! Keeping my fingers crossed for you to be able to experience Antarctica and all the wonders of this amazing itinerary.
  6. Just checked our credit card account this morning and see we received our refund for our cancelled Holland America April 5 cruise. We chose the full refund option on March 15 and now have been made whole! So, the refunds are coming!
  7. I mailed my Passport in for renewal on March 17. The check was cashed and when I checked the status online it has said “in process” ever since March 23. I assume it will not be processed until the end of the summer at best but who knows. I originally needed it for a 2020 Thanksgiving cruise but we lifted and shifted that until Thanksgiving 2021. So I don’t have a need for it now until next year. And, I have a Real ID license so I am good for air travel if I need to fly.
  8. The Eastern Caribbean cruise a year out on the Oasis of the seas for Thanksgiving week 2021 was the SAME price as the Western Caribbean cruise on the Oasis of the Seas for Thanksgiving 2020. So we are not paying more. The Western Caribbean cruise we wanted to lift and shift to would have been $300 more pp because of the room category problem.
  9. We were unable to lift and shift our November Western Caribbean cruise because the room category we had booked was not available one year out. But we were able to cancel, get our nonrefundable deposit back and book an Eastern Caribbean cruise a year out instead that happened to have a comparable room category available for a good fare. So it worked out for us without a lift and shift.
  10. One more question. As I stated earlier, we are booked on oasis of the seas for Nov 22, 2020 western Caribbean + perfect day. I am thrilled we could L&S out of Miami instead of Ft. Lauderdale. New wrinkle: We want to specifically L&S to to nov 20, 2021 same itinerary on symphony of the seas. Would RC tell us we cannot pick our Nov 20 week since Oasis of the seas does same itinerary Nov 27th for a much cheaper fare than the Symphony of the Seas cruise? ( I am a teacher and can only go the Thanksgiving week). If that’s the case we will have to just take the FCC for our no refundable deposits.
  11. That is awesome. We booked through a travel agent so they are going to call to get it done. It would be an amazing switch. The fare for the Symphony cruise is almost double what the fare for the Oasis cruise, so price protection is key. I hope we can get the switch done!
  12. We currently have booked Nov 22, 2020 cruise on the Oasis Western Caribbean plus perfect day out of Ft. Lauderdale. We want to L&S it to Nov 2021. In order to do the same Western Caribbean itinerary on the same week (Thanksgiving week), we would have to select the Symphony out of MIAMI. Will they deny it because it departs from Miami instead of Ft. Lauderdale?
  13. We got an email directly from HAL as well and not our TA. I'm assuming we can click on the link in the email and select our preference without going through the travel agent. Thoughts?
  14. We are going to Alaska with our adult daughter and her boyfriend. They will be in a separate cabin. We will be exchanging our elite mini bar for two coffee packages and would like to give one to them. Does anyone know if you can assign a package to someone traveling with you, but who is in another cabin?
  15. We too use unscented laundry detergent. You can bring your own soap, liquid or powder. We have done so in the past on several cruises. Our dermatologist gave us individual packets of liquid unscented laundry detergent for one of our cruises. I don't know if those packets can be purchased as well. We have also brought powdered laundry detergent in a zip loc bag to use. I don't know what selection Princess has on board.
