  1. We stayed at the Daiwa Roynet Koen, clean and reasonable price. Near Chinatown and less than UD$20 for a taxi to Osanbashi Cruise Terminal (assuming this is dock you are leaving from) Another option is the Hotel New Grand, you can see the terminal from the hotel. https://www.tripadvisor.com/SmartDeals-g14127330-d2417799-Keihin_Ferry_Boat_Inc-Naka_Yokohama_Kanagawa_Prefecture_Kanto-Hotel-Deals.html#MAPVIEW
  2. do a search on youtube on how to use an ATM in Japan including where they are located at Narita and Haneda. As mentioned 7 / 11 stores have ATM's , here is a video on how to use them
  3. One of the things we found interesting is the "ghost buildings in the area by the port", new multi story apartments and near the train station, office buildings that were completely empty. There were no local shops, restaurants or markets. We saw a Starbucks sign on a store and it was empty and never occupied, just the sign.
  4. Note the cruise port terminal is located in a new area. I don't think they sell liquor in the cruise terminal and there are no shops near the terminal. Therefore, you will have to purchase liquor before you get to the terminal and the city of Tianjin is not close, about 38 miles away. https://www.chinahighlights.com/tianjin/tianjin-cruise-port.htm
  5. If you are comfortable with a small group, 16 at the maximum I would look at Overseas Adventure Travel (part of Grand Circle Travel headquartered in the Boston area) Much cheaper and their tour allows you time to get adjusted to the altitude, spend afternoon and next morning at MP and you stay at a hotel in the town near MP.
  6. Not sure if this has been posted, but something special at the Singapore Airport
  7. You might look into an independent contractor to take you to the port. We used the Roll Call for our cruise to get 8 passengers and then booked a Green Tomato mini bus to take us from a hotel in Tokyo to the port in Yokohama. See the information from Trip Advisors https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g298161-d8674294-Reviews-Green_Tomato_Airport_Shuttle-Narita_Chiba_Prefecture_Kanto.html
  8. If your going to stay in Yokohama (rather than Tokyo) it's easy to take a bus from Haneda to YCAT (Yokohama City Airport Terminal) and then a taxi to your hotel. you can also take a bus to Tokyo, just do a search on youtube. Assuming you are leaving from Osanbashi Cruise Terminal, then a hotel near the port is Hotel New Grand (the hotel is also near Chinatown and the Cup Of Noodles Museum plus many other attractions. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hotel+New+Grand/@35.4460505,139.6461426,17z/data=!3m1!5s0x60185ce297361643:0x4ceb5b0528839890!4m15!1m6!3m5!1s0x60185cfbfa5d4e

    Hotel pre cruise..

Might help to have more information. Which airport are you flying into (Narita or Haneda) and what port are you departing from, Yokohama? Lowest cost option if your leaving from Yokohama is to fly into Haneda and stay at a hotel near the port. Do you have a budget for the hotel and do you want to do any sight seeing?

    Owodori hats

Might you be looking for the Awa Odori hat's worn by the dancers? It's in Tokushima, so they would have the hats there but I'm sure they sell them in other places in Japan https://jtex.wordpress.com/2009/10/11/dance-costume-3-awa-odori-women/ https://www.tokyoweekender.com/2017/08/awa-odori-the-story-behind-japans-biggest-dance-festival/
  11. thank you. we are going in a July cruise, very helpful information
  12. older video on departing, but gives you an idea of what is like.
  13. Most taxi drivers speak some English, but take the location in Chinese. Unless there is something unusual going on, the cruise port will be Kai Tak (the old airport), we were on the Celebrity Millennium. There are a lot of seating areas in the terminal so you won't have a problem in finding a place to sit. About 1/2 hour before they started the boarding process, Celebrity provided water. Porters did take our large luggage when we got out of the taxi so we only had our carry on luggage. (the porters were there helping passengers disembarking from the prior cruise).
  14. We faced the same issue, arrived early in the morning (7:00 am) and ended up taking a taxi. There were a lot of taxis even early in the morning so we didn't have any problems. I paid in HK Dollars so I'm not sure if they take credit cards. We got to Kai Tak Cruise terminal in no time since it was so early in the morning, probably about 30 to 45 minutes. We had to wait a couple of hours until we could get processed and board the ship. Here is a link that might help you. https://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Hong-Kong-China&from=Kai+Tak+Cruise+Terminal%2C+33+Shing+Fung+Rd%2C+Kwun+Tong%2C+Hong+Kong&to=Hong+Kong+International+Airport+(Chek+
  15. Like the others have said, thank you for the review. We are on the July 24 th cruise so your information is very helpful.
