  1. Pammycakes, thanks for the recommendation. Glad to hear you had a recent visit. I have been reading reviews from all over the web, and overwhelmingly, Nachi has very positive reviews that seem fair and balanced. I just reserved a spot for our family this summer. Can't wait!

  2. I second the vote for Eagle Ray. I booked on my own prior to our cruise. In Cozumel we grabbed a cab from the pier and our family of 4 had a fantastic snorkeling adventure. I booked the package that included lunch at Money Bar. A wonderful day all around.

  3. Hi everyone,

We've not yet been to Falmouth. We have excursions booked for other ports, but but not Falmouth. We'd like to get off the ship and walk through town, perhaps shop and have lunch. Does the town lend itself well to a leisurely walking tour?

    Thanks!

  4. I've been on just 2 other cruises (RCCI and NCL). MSC Divina will be our family's third. I found a great price for a balcony room (we've had interiors on our previous sailings).

Here are a few reasons that I love to cruise:

    • Someone else makes my bed each day
    • Someone else cooks my food, actually brings it to me in the MDR, and cleans up after me!
    • My family eats together for 7 nights in a row, and we dress up a bit.
    • The ports of call are a nice contrast to where we currently live
    • I love standing on deck and watching the ocean waves
    • It's so relaxing to sit in a ship bar, have a drink and chat with my hubby
    • Reclining/napping on a lounger on deck, with a good book, the warm sun and a cold drink is fabulous
    • It's lovely to hear some live music and see a few shows
    • It's good to unplug and get away from work
    • So nice to sit in the library and play cards and watch the world go by
    • The atmosphere of the pool deck at night - all lit up - is magical
    • It's fun to indulge in the penny or nickel slots, or maybe a pedicure in the spa
    • I love to fall asleep to the vague rocking of the ocean waves, (and on port days wake up in some place different).

For me - it's the big picture and the overall experience of cruising that I'm after. Canned and not fresh pineapple in the buffet? Stateroom attendant forgot to fill my ice bucket, or refresh our towel supply? No omlette station? Dinner service is a bit slow? Alcoholic drinks too weak? Waiter neglected to refill my water glass at dinner? For me at least - those types of things are small potatoes. On our previous two cruises, there were things that were not perfect either. But I did not let it put my nose out of joint.

Just my opinion. I don't sweat the small stuff too much in general when we travel.

This is not to diminishish anyone else's opinion - someone else on the same sailing could feel the polar opposite from me. Just wanted to reiterate why I love cruising so much.

For Cozumel we took a cab to Nachi Cocum. I had booked this on my own via there website. I think the cost was $50 each and includes really good food and drinks for the day. The beach was nice, quiet and there were only about 30 people here for the day. There is also a pool to use and lots of shade. It was a very nice relaxing afternoon. Were we docked in Cozumel was a mall - so there is lots of shopping and restaraunts right there if that is what interests you.

Miss JAD - Thanks for the reivew of Nachi Cocum. Sounds great! Our last visit to Cozumel we went snorkeling and to the Money Bar for lunch - I want to do something different this time around.

  6. My understanding is that extras need not be paid in advance. Many MSC cruisers prefer to book extras in advance but wait until onboard to pay for excursions and drinks packages so as to benefit from MSC club points.

    Many thanks CruiseIreland!

  7. This may be a stupid question, but I booked our cruise on the Divina through a TA for this August. Final payment is due by May 9th.

I can get on MSC's site to make reservations for excursions and I can book drink packages. As those are done directly through MSC and not our travel agent, do they also need to be paid in full by May 9th, or just by the time we sail?

Even if they are not due by May 9th, can I prepay the excursions and drink packages? I like to prepay everything that I can, including gratuities, so that we start our cruise with a clean slate.

    Thanks!

  8. I booked in the USA through a TA. Cannot find any way to enter my MSC booking # on the MSC web site. I called MSC web customer support and the woman I spoke with said that I will never be able to add my booking number/view detailed cruise information on their site. She did say, however, that I can book excursions and drink packages etc. as it will prompt me at that point for my MSC booking number.

(With RCCL and NCL I even though I booked through a TA I liked being able to go to the cruiseline website to see all my upcoming cruise info.)

  9. Hi Everyone,

When we sailed on RCC and stopped at Labadee for the day, lunch was included at no additional cost.

We sail this fall on the MSC Divina and will stop at Great Stirrup Cay. Is food included there, or must it be purchased ala carte?

    Trying to plan our budget.

    Thanks for your help.

  10. Can someone please tell me the price to purchase beer, wine and cocktails on the Divina? I'm not sure we'd drink enough to justify purchasing the drink packages, so if I had an idea on how much drinks cost I could make a decision.

We've only sailed on Royal Caribbean and Norwegian and even though we are not huge drinkers - the drinks added up quickly. My husband prefers dark beers and imports and when on vacation I like the fru-fru girly cocktails.

I like to prepay everything - gratuities, excursions, drink packages etc. - so that we start our cruise vacation with a clean slate. :D

Thanks in advance for any insight.
