Cool Cruiser (2/20)

  1. Hurricane Irma, Sept 2017 on RCL Oasis (have since moved to NCL so apologies for posting here). The ship had decided to head back to Mexico for a few extra days instead of going back to Ft Lauderdale. We had to get back to Virginia and even when we did finally get back to FL it was going to be hard to get home. So we walked off in Jamaica, spent the night, and flew around the damage the next day. We just didn’t know any better, you’re right. Even though I’d still don’t like the idea that they can tell me I can’t leave. Is that in the fine print somewhere?
  2. No, they had a credit card and the balance was correct. I never settle with guest services unless there is a problem.
  3. Yes, suitcases and all. Of course we went through security getting off the ship but that was just as normal going ashore. Tap your card and have a nice day… We did go through immigration, there was an office but there was no portal to go through.
  4. Wow, I didn’t realize you need permission to leave. Notice, I can understand but not permission. My wife and I walked off a cruise in Jamaica as we were avoiding a pending hurricane. It never occurred to me to ask, I just let the room steward know. Maybe that was wrong but we were never challenged.
  5. All, thank you so much for the advice and apologies for the delay is reporting back here. Last night at approximately 10:30pm the plumber showed. It appears resolved but the level of effort it took by me is unacceptable and brings a new meaning to free-style cruising where you stand in lines for 30 minutes for guest services and many phone calls. This is only my second experience with NCL, the other being Pride of America, and they appear to be no where near RCL/Celebrity in service, food and presentation. Lesson learned.
  6. We are now on hour 12 since first reporting plumbing problems. We have called guest service, our room steward, the floor manager for our deck who has also notified the head of housekeeping and here we are still with continuing liquid/water on our floor and no sign of engineering. Does anyone have any advice on how to get this fixed? It’s a sanitation issue. Should I escalate off ship to NCL?
