  1. In that case I would disregard anything you read about embarkation day experiences. It will be a lot different for you.

Also, be aware that things will be a bit odd when you get to the main embarkation port. My main advice would be to make sure you are either not onboard or are comfortable on your balcony (or some other nice place if you don't have one) with any drinks or anything you will want when the muster drill happens. Everything will shut down for a while.

    Good advice!! Many thanks!!

  2. I'm not all that up to date on the Spirit itineraries, but I think that a Malta embarkation will be an option on cruises where the majority of people will have boarded in Venice, Rome or Barcelona.

If that's the case then usual embarkation day rules won't apply. I assume that a MDR will be open (they aren't usually on port days but may make an exception if people are boarding. The buffet won't be as busy as usual on normal embarkation days.

The Spirit doesn't have o'Sheehans. It has Blue Lagoon instead but there is limited seating.

You should have no problem with crowds wherever you go.

Thanks a lot. No, Malta is not the "normal" embarkation port in fact.

  3. What kind of credit card requires money to be put in it? This sounds like a prepaid card, which is really a debit card.

The card will be a VISA, which is a credit card. We have a very low limit on it. Not everyone is Ritchie Rich you know.

  4. thanks...so they dont block the money upon embarkation? and when will the block cease? If they hold, let s say, 200 dollars, when you buy something onboard, will this be deducted from the 200 dollar which were blocked? Sorry for all the questions, but this is still rather confusing.

  5. hi again...we will be cruising the Mediterranean for 10 nights on the Spirit. We will be using a credit card to open the onboard account. I heard that NCL blocks a certain amount of money. Do you know how much they block and for which purpose please? I m asking so that we will know how much money to put in the card.

  6. Just a question, so if she only eats pizza and pasta with red or white sauce does that mean you cook that every day for her at home ? Is that even remotely healthy ? Does she even eat at school ?

Even though I started this thread asking a simple question about dining on the Spirit, I am VERY grateful for the CONSTRUCTIVE advice a lot of good people are giving me. But I cant understand how your 2 questions, dgparent, can be of your business and / or problem, or how they can be of any help to me.

  7. Hi...we will cruising with the Spirit on July 2017. My daughter is a fussy eater and eats only pizza and pasta with plain red sauce or white sauce. If we eat at one of the main dining rooms, do you think they will cook her a plate of pasta if there is none suitable on the menu? or do we have to eat always at a buffet?

Her eating habits are always a headache for us. Thanks in advance.

  8. Thanks a lot.. We will try to organise our own journeys. We do not wish to pay for the ship s excursions. And since we have a daughter coming with us, we dont wish to visit cultural sites.

In Naples we would like to visit Capri / Anacapri.

In Civitavecchia we just need to get to the train station and from there we will catch the shuttles that take us to the park we want to visit .

In Livorno we are thinking of catching a taxi from the port & back.

In Marseille & Palma we need a taxi from the port too.

thanks again for the useful information you provided :D
