  1. I would go to the hostess stand on the first night and explain the situation. They will mark your account with your preferences and you should be good to go from there. I know that they push the app check-in and it is convenient, but it appears that you have unique circumstances and requirements. I'm sure they will do everything they can to make your wife's experience great.
  2. That's great, but they were asking about Carnival. 😉
  3. ^^ Agreed. The rules at the port of embarkation are the same regardless of the length of the cruise; however, one thing most people aren't aware of is that you can carry on a 12 pack per person at each port, as well as at embarkation.
  4. Carnival's rules are pretty specific. 21+ only. He can likely drink in port, depending on the port.
  5. So, yes, I'm cheap. We purchased some liquor on one of our last cruises that we had to fly home (we planned to do so). I purchased some bubble wrap from Dollar Tree and ordered some extra-large ziplock bags from Amazon (making sure they were big enough). Wrapped those bottles and put into the baggies and buried those bottles in the suitcases. No issues and not a huge expense or bother.
  6. Just be aware that everyone in the rooms that are switching (whether they are switching or not) have to go to GS, not just the ones who need new keys.
  7. Log into your Carnvial account to view your cruise and click on "booking and order details." That will show everything that you have purchased for your cruise (you will need to scroll down some).
  8. The typical ES rules are that you will incur a penalty equal to the deposit; however, all of that except $50 pp will be available to you in the form of a FCC. You will definiately need to contact Carnival to make sure that is what your ES rate rules are and I would also request to roll that FCC (or possibly the full amount) over to your next cruise.
  9. Silly question, but this is my first NCL cruise, is the menu the same every night in the dining room!?!
  10. The Queen Mary is in Long Beach right outside of the terminal (like within an easy walk).
  11. That's a really good question! No, you do not have to sign anything in the MDR, but you do in specialty restaurants. It is was really weird on our first cruise to just get up an walk out after dinner.
  12. That means that AA has your reservation, but the flight has not yet been ticketed. Normally that would happen about 60 days prior to sailing.
  13. I really don't know the brand or style, but he bought it on Amazon. Sorry, he was independent on this one 🙂
  14. It's also on the Sunshine. However, I echo, it's well worth the cost. We loved it.
  15. Yes. When you log in to the app there will be options to upgrade. You can upgrade at any time during the cruise.
  16. We have done it before. Before upgrading to premium, I would try the value plan first.
  17. Check out the family cruising board for advice on cruising with the littles. My only reminder (just in case you haven't cruised with them before) is that they must be potty trained in order to use any of the water areas.
  18. This!! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ I, personally, do not choose to take unnecessary risks with my health and life, and I do not encourage others to do so. You do you.
  19. Never, never, never put medical equipment, supplies, or medications in a checked bag!
  20. Corkage fee is charged if you bring your bottle into the MDR or speciality restaurant. It is not a fee for uncorking the bottle, it is a surcharge for bringing your own wine. You can bring a corkscrew or ask your room steward for one.
  21. I'm assuming that you are answering the questiona bout ordering bottled water? You don't have to be paid in full to do that, or purchase anything else from the Fun Shops.
  22. Yes, get it on board. Order is ahead of time (you have to call, can't order online). It's like $4-5 and totally worth it! But order ahead. We had one cruise where we tried to order once we were on and they had run out.
  23. DH and I both have cpaps. He chose to use the case that it came with until recently when he purchased a backpack specifically made for that purpose. I normally will put mine into my small wheeled carry on with all of the other things you describe. They aren't big, bulky, or heavy. They are necessary, though 😁
