  1. Maybe the demand is not as strong as people think. We have done two 20+ day cruises with Princess this year and a 10 day. Our experience with Covid on board the ship (even though we did not catch it) was off putting. We have canceled all of our remaining cruises with Princess this year and have none planned next year. We are in Europe right now and loving it and not walking down ship corridors with Covid tables and Styrofoam food trays outside the doors which was disgusting.
  2. That may be true but on the other forms of vacations mentioned you do not take the risk of spending thousands of dollars and then finding yourself isolated in a quarantine cabin, food delivered to you like a prisoner in styrofoam containers and mostly forgotten. Also, it appears no matter what some cruise lines do they have not been successful in controlling the spread on their longer cruises.
  3. WOW....another conspiracy has been discovered....they just never end when it comes to Covid!!!
  4. I agree. Brilliant thinking again. Let's take a bus load of passengers off a trans-Atlantic cruise where they were quarantined and coughing their lungs out and put them on a long haul flight back to the US. The incessant coughing will relax and put everyone at ease around them and make the flight super enjoyable..
  5. Travel agents are dinosaurs. We make all of out travel arrangements for all type of travel all over the world and know the travel programs inside and out. Wait until you are in Paris, London, Vienna and something goes wrong with your trip. The airlines, hotels, cruise companies, etc are going to tell you to get in touch with your travel agent who made they booking and will not assist you most likely. It will not be their problem but yours. Only on cruise blog websites do you even hear the term travel agent it seems.
  6. If you have Covid you will not be yelling....believe me! 🙂
  7. It is not a question of could but "IT IS happening" on all of their ships now and they are doing nothing to protect passengers and even worse wash their hands as fast as they can when passengers get ill. Maybe passengers who have total disregard for their fellow passengers and do not want to practice safe Covid protocols should not be cruising. That makes a lot more sense. Either be part of the solution or do not cruise.
  8. Yes, I think you are right.....all the signs are pointing to that Princess is now going after that younger Medicare crowd......I think Virgin and others are going to capture the affluent 20, 30 and 40 year old market.
  9. One of the most productive forums I have seen on Princess CC recently and they ideas are really useful and helpful. Thanks to everyone!!
  10. The Hawaii Safe Travels program was very time specific in that you had to take a test within 72 hours before final leg of departure to Hawaii. Princess' is more flexible in that it says within 3 days of departure.
  11. Never witnessed these dining room myths and legends that you purport.
  12. Agree.....it is alive and well but to listen to some on CC Covid no longer exists on Princess ships and everyone is following the dress code and showing up in tuxes and ball gowns....#normal-life-again.
  13. People do not get quarantined for catching a cold, the flu or other common illnesses. Not so with Covid. And you state most people want to get on with a "normal life." Well Covid is our new normal and wearing a mask helps prevent the spread of Covid. The latest polls show that the majority of Americans support the wearing of masks in many different situations. Princess should not have relaxed their health standards so soon and less passengers would be suffering un-necessarily. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2022/05/11/57-of-americans-say-masks-should-be-required-on-airplanes-and-public-transportation/
  14. You say madness and I say prevention.....prefer prevention....
  15. That is the reason our friends used but basically they let everyone know they are just not getting it no matter what....and they got their Princess exemption.
  16. We met with our Primary MD yesterday and told him what we may encounter on a long cruise and he would not write a prescription for Paxlovid because he says it has serious side effects and he would not be comfortable with us self-administering on a long cruise?
  17. Thanks for your post and the ships we have been on your story is more the norm since they basically have done away with their stricter Covid protocols. Princess and many passengers just want to pretend that Covid is no longer "a thing" and that everything is all good. They need to advertise "Hey.....if you get Covid on one of our ships...and you probably will....you are assured to come back rested and refreshed staying in of our spartan and zen like quarantine cabins."
  18. That's what we thought a year ago and now we are booked on 2 relatively long cruises and 2 10 day cruises before fall. Protocols have gone away but unfortunately Covid can still create havoc for our cruises if we catch Covid on a ship even though we are fully vaccinated and boosted. It just seems like Princess has relaxed things a little too much for us but we are not staying home either so that is on us.
  19. Princess has changed a lot of things since resuming cruising and also what they say they do to prevent Covid and what they actually do. On our recent cruise the staff we know said it was more than 5%, which can add up to several hundred passengers on a ship. The staff is nervous about catching Covid and Princess needs to require all to be vaccinated and tested or none. Obviously something is not working now because since they dropped their strict Covid protocols their quaratine cabins are full and over flowing on some ships. If Princess is saying cruising is safe when it is not, than the customer needs to know how their cruise can turn into a nightmare.
  20. We have been on several cruises since cruising restarted and are getting on another ship in a couple weeks. Nowhere were we aware how many people on our cruises were granted a vaccination waiver nor who they were? According to staff that we talked to they have a list of all passengers given waivers and according to them it is a lot more than just a few.
  21. And hence the reason for their chaotic boarding process at many ports.....not only does Princess not enforce but passengers do not follow their assigned times......
  22. Agree.....Princess is hiding a lot of things such as letting passengers on the ships who have never been vaccinated.
  23. Am not blaming anyone......their stock price does not lie and investors do not see them as a profitable companies now and later evidently regardless of what the rest of the market does.....
  24. Really......CCL is at a sizzling $13.26 today.....does not sound like the big boys and girls at the brokerage houses are buying it.....this economy is probably going to be tough environment for cruise lines to thrive in......
  25. I think you are right on and they will have to get vaccinated. It is troubling that Princess is allowing these waivers. We had friends recently sail on Princess and they received the waiver and basically they are not vaccinated because they do not want to get vaccinated and there is no other reason for it. However, that is not what they told Princess. Hard to understand why Princess is making most of us jump through Covid protocols and then they are allowing others to escape them and also not letting passengers know how many of these waivers have been granted for each sailing. Easy to see why they are having so much Covid on their ships now.
