  1. Thank you all for your responses, we are Platinum on Carnival and we feel that its just time for a change, the service and options are just not really there anymore.

We only book suite cabins on CCL so I am thinking we need to do the same fro RCCL - I'm on vacation!

We have decided on the Independence - anything you can tell us on the difference on the suites, is there a good suite or a bad one? How private are the balconies?

I'm excited to be coming back to RCCL - I wish I could say I'll miss the perks of Platinum on CCL but there aren't any

  2. I have been cruising CCL for the past nine years and we are considering coming back to RCCL. I have not cruised RCCL in about 10 years - I am sure a lot of things have changed.....

We are looking at the Independence of the Sea January 2015 - which has a great itinerary; considering a Suite.

Can you please tell me what we can look forward to, what RCCL offers, any tips on location.....

    Thanks

  3. I was there last week and will try to help you as best as I can. The taxi stand is in the same parking lot that the excursion busses leave from. Walk to the end of the parking lot, the taxi stand is there. The taxis park in a smaller lot that is outside the large bus lot. You need to go through a gate to get there. There is nothing in the port except for a duty free shop and the parking lot. It isn't a long walk to the parking lot, but it is up hill. I don't know if the taxis are allowed to get closer to the ship, I would suspect they are not.

    Thanks for the info -

  4. Not the OP and don't mean to hijack, but I can answer your question. The distance to the taxi stand is not that far, but I seem to remember that it was up a little grade. We also went to Dreams La Romana when we were in DR a couple of years ago. We were lucky enough to find some people to share a taxi with because the price was outrageous for two. Filling the taxi/van is the way to go so split the cost. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the resort from where the ship docks, but we loved our day there. We even recommended Dreams to friends of ours who got married this past summer and were looking for a place for their honeymoon. They loved it too and spent a week there (all inclusive). If we ever get back to the DR, we will definitely go to Dreams again. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks - we are traveling with a large group so filling a few taxis wont be an issue. I appreciate the feedback on the resort - we are looking forward to spending the day there

  5. Thanks for the review - we are heading out on the Breeze Saturday. We have been to DR on a previous trip and did an excursion through Carnival; this trip we are heading down to Dreams resort......we speak Spanish so I am hoping that will help with some confusion.

Can you tell me how far the walk was to get to the taxi, my mom is traveling with us and cannot walk long distances

thanks again - love the review

  6. We will be traveling on the Breeze, taking a taxi over to Dreams resort. Can someone tell me where the taxis are located, we are traveling with my mother who has a difficult time walking long distances.

I am curious how far away the taxis are or if once we get one if they would be able to drive down closer to the ship to pick her up?

  7. Good luck!!! I'm getting married (symbolic) on the Epic on January 6. I think if you just relax and just roll with the punches, you'll have an amazing time. I quit worrying about the details... That's why we are doing it on the cruise :)

    Congratulations!

Thanks, congrats to you as well.

  8. I am 14 days from our wedding on the Breeze, I've gotten the call from a The Wedding Experience and I'm good to go with them. I still don't know the location of the ceremony (we have the DJ so I know the location of reception)

Can anyone give me some last minute advice, I'm worried I'm missing something or tips on what you wish you would have done

    Thanks

  9. We are gonna try to get the disco for our reception. Neither of us eat steak so we prob wont go to the steakhouse at all.

Does anyone know, if we get the disco is there still someone that does announcing and stuff like that? I want to try to book that soon so we dont have any issues getting that for the reception.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Forums mobile app

    First Congratulations!!!

If you are certain that you want the Disco - you must book the DJ, we knew we wanted the Liquid Lounge so we booked the DJ; they only do the DJ for one wedding so the sooner you book it the better, we booked ours 16 months in advance.....

  10. Hope I can get the info here. I have two rooms booked for April 28 sailing. Husband and I in one room. Mom and kids in 2nd room. I would like to change the booking to reflect my Mom and I in one room and my husband and the boys in the other room. That way I can spend some nice extra quiet time with her and also pay her way. I don't want her to think when I gift her the cruise for Christmas that I asked her along as a sitter.

Can I do this without penalty? Is there an area on the website or do I have to call?

I should have thought this through.

I booked directly on website myself and have only paid first deposit

    Thanks!

If you booked early saver, there will be a 50.00 name change for each name change. If you want to pay your moms way, just set her up on your account when you print your boarding passes; this is very easy to do.

If you want her in your cabin, when you board the ship, they can switch the key around or give her a key to your cabin.

Hope that helped, enjoy your cruise

After he took the photos of the wedding and around the ship how/when did you go to look at them and decide which package you were going to buy?
