  1. Splenda came in a dispenser and I hated it. The last time I went ashore and bought some Splenda packets. Taking my packets the next time. I find with the dispensers I either use too much or too little.
  2. Yes and this ex Crystal cruiser is booked on 5 Seabourn cruises next year! But I am reconsidering the 24 day Quest itinerary in favour of a 14 day SS itinerary on the Endeavour in spite of SS not being my cup of tea! So many things have changed since the pandemic…including myself….so I am trying to go with the flow more.
  3. What does the Marina day consist of?
  4. We are on the same 14 days as you. The last time we were to have the caviar and beach day at Saline Bay but high waves made them cancel it and it was caviar in the pool.
  5. In case of an expected CDC inspection the time will be delayed. In March we boarded early without a problem. As you said our time was changed to 45 minutes later but we had no problem when we showed up at the original time.
  6. You can get a name brand….Splenda in a bottle if you ask for it. i prefer the packets as I serve myself the amount I need instead of sprinkling too little or too much. I carry my own Splenda now.
  7. Ever since I found they had those splenda bottles on our first Seabourn I carry my own. SS doesn’t have Splenda at all they have stevia. Fortunately the first time I was able to rush ashore and pick some up now I don’t leave home without it…the little things make us happy.
  8. We always special order on any line we are on. Most of the time they are very good. On Encore we special ordered after it was suggested by the F&B manager but our order wasn’t made. On Odyssey we special ordered twice and things were good. Looking forward to special ordering on our next three SB cruises actually 5 with two b2b. i almost never visit a bar and don’t eat caviar but good water and special orders are important for me. Yes choice is good…
  9. May be a Great Lakes cruise instead. A friend did it on Viking and loved it though her flight to Thunder Bay was canceled and she had to get there via Winnipeg.
  10. We are booked on the Dover to Montreal on the Quest next year and hope to go…health permitting.
  11. Wendy we bought the apple air tags. They were great. Told us exactly where our bags were. We had gone AF to London and after a few days there on to Dublin so passing through some difficult airports including Pearson. My European SIM didnt work but the airport wifi gave me their location. Hope you and David are doing well.
  12. We are on the Dover to Montreal segment next year. Doing two weeks on Ovation in January as a sunshine break and another trip on Encore in April hopping on from a TA on Regent Voyager.
  13. Thanks for your review. We are booked on this itinerary for next year and now not sure DH will like it. We just did the SS expedition on Silver Cloud and he didn’t enjoy the zodiac part. We were on the Explorer with you and I know you met my DD and I think we briefly met as well. If you enjoy Bordeaux wines I can heartily recommend a visit for their amateur wine festival. They have visits arranged including dinners and lunches at a number of established vineyards. It is about 4 days and a fabulous experience. Alternatively a drive through the Loire will give you both wine and chateaux. Happy Cruising!
  14. I am late to reading this review but wanted to mention that the shrimp look very much like the Atlantic cold water baby shrimp that are found in the area the ship was in. Sometimes called Matane shrimp. While small they are extremely sweet and quite different from the over large shrimp cocktail usually served in the Colonnade or on Regent Ships. These large cocktail shrimp are usually farmed and not wild as the Matane shrimp are.
  15. Since Bombay duck is a fish I should hope it didn’t look like a duck. I guess it could be an acquired taste but I love my Bombay duck crispy crumb fried!
  16. I think Seabourn has the service and the sense of family that Crystal cruisers love. The staff are very warm and friendly yet professional. To me Seabourn is currently attractive because of itineraries. I love the small ports they visit in the Caribbean. Time will tell what I finally decide….meanwhile enjoying other cruise lines and ships and their offerings.
  17. I have just three cruises on Seabourn with three more booked. I wonder whether they will merge my account and increase my level. I have no problem if they don’t do so. If Crystal comes back I will definitely try them out. Seabourn has some very nice features … we loved TK Grill for example and the stellar service and warmth of most staff. We cruised on Seabourn after three years yet we were remembered by staff. Even staff you do not interact with swot your name before you embark and this is very noticeable and appreciated. Not needed but nevertheless nice. That is what I loved about Crystal and the fact that my Evian was always waiting for me. Hope Seabourn notes my preferences as that makes a ship feel like home.
  18. I was thinking Keens but it is August in the British Isles. I suspect very few wet landings if any.
  19. I had very inconsistent and sometimes poor food on the Moon last august and after having the temerity to mention it was flamed on this board. Anyway will be on the Cloud in August so will try the Silversea offerings again.
  20. Thank you so much. I found it. For our cruise they don’t appear to include water shoes but there is talk of possible wet landings. So we will take water shoes with us.
  21. Where did you get the list from ? Silversea hasn’t sent us anything.
  22. We are on the Cloud from Dublin to Lisbon. Would anyone know whether we will have wet landings? The folks at Silversea dont have a clue! I really don’t want to get special shoes for the one trip though I guess I could take my Keens or water shoes and then change into runners if need be.
  23. I think you may be right! Since we hadn’t been on it since 2008 and I really liked their itinerary I wanted to get my ducks lined up before putting down my money. There are options for all and that is a good thing.
  24. My experience on Seabourn was totally different on my my first two cruises ….on my third they missed my special order but apologies were proffered and accepted. I would never be so demanding as to expect an off menu dish a la minute. My usual policy at the very beginning of a cruise is to discuss a couple of requests with dates noted. This gives everyone plenty of time to arrange. In fact on Seabourn in March the F&B manager asked me the very first day in TK whether I would like a special Indian meal. I am perfectly capable of creating special menus and meals at home but when I cruise I usually like to enjoy what the chef’s interpretation of a dish is. On Regent in December the chef actually called his mother in law to make me something really special. And we were happy to share it with staff from that region.
