  1. So are you saying there are plans that cover everything EXCEPT medical?
  2. Not that anyone here cares but we have always lived below our means. My (Scottish-heritage) husband taught me tons about personal finance. He was laid off and offered (a very generous but still) severance at 53. We made it because we had zero debt (houses, cars, credit cards). A lesson that some should learn.
  3. But trip insurance doesn't have to be either/or. Ours wasn't. Covered the entire gamut including emergency evacuation...even death 😞
  4. Not counting air (used points) this was a $14k trip. "Sunken cost" or not that's not 'chump change.' For us anyway. Will we suffer physically? No. But I'm not walking away from it 🙂
  5. Ages ago I used to get that at a deli in the Financial District in San Francisco. Loved it.
  6. We travel a goodly amount (six continents so far) and I 'research' restaurants as I'm really into food. When I look at a menu I take that as a 'guide' of the types of dishes they specialize in. A guide.
  7. Did you mean a MILLION? $1,000,000?
  8. With all kindness, I agree. Our one dinner at Polo Grill I didn't even have steak. I had the lobster mac n cheese.
  9. But every ship has different menus and those menus change from cruise to cruise. So you like chain restaurants. Aha. That explains why you want to see all the menus. Theirs' rare or never change, right? Of the other cuisines you mention are there particular dishes you like? That will explain more.
  10. This. Daddy always said "no matter what's wrong with you, a steak will make it better." But we do it and dang well I might add at home. I love to cook and I love to find menus with things I've either never cooked or want to see if it's better than mine.
  11. OP is looking for specifics.
  12. HAHA! We did a 400 pax expedition ship to Antarctica. The food was super but no caviar. Sparkling wine but I don't remember Champagne.
  13. With 100 degree temps and high 90s humidity, they were pouring beer over ice. Sounds like a good pairing. What is Fresh Time? I saw a place Fresh THYME.
  14. We're in our 70s and purchased trip insurance for the first time. Had a completely unexpected medical issue and decided to cancel. My doctor supported this. This is something that could have happened on early trips - land and sea - and what a mess THAT would have been. So, if UK has similar insurance I honestly would suggest you purchase it. It's not cheap but way, WAY cheaper than losing the full cost of the trip.
  15. It would be 'nice' had you been told that. Sheesh. I'm a punctuality freak btw.
  16. Unless something has changed we're only responsible for the first $50 on CREDIT not debit cards. And our bank has never even charged us that. The sky's the limit IIRC for debit cards but again our banks haven't charged us on those either.
  17. I had pig intestine that was properly 'cleaned' and loved it. Had it a second time and it was "funky" as they say. Yuck. When my husband used to travel A LOT one time on a special occasion and he was gone I grilled a lobster tail and a piece of beef filet mignon. Tough life.
  18. I don't thinks that's how it's supposed to be. The rats get into the farmers rice fields and eat the rice. So the farmer kills them and grills them on the side of the road and sells. Our guide bought some but then had our hotel them some more. I would try them again 🙂
  19. Good. I've known plenty of people who won't try something. The rat we had in Thailand was overcooked and tough and flavorless.
  20. Lol. Says you not me.
  21. One quick compliment and I've had them say "you just made my day."
  22. I guess that means you tried it and didn't like it.
  23. Thanks. I've actually had it both ways. Love them both.
  24. I was retired before there was a TSA. But when people have a tough job dealing with frequently a-hole people I got out of my way to be nice to them. Even a simple "how's it going today?" or even better "I love your hair color 🙂 "
