That would be an awful lot of Coke Zeros to make it work for us!😁

We're teetotalers, so that takes a lot of the shine off the appeal for have-it-all for us, but I'm sure it can be worth it if you like to drink on your cruise.

It's just a few weeks left before our upcoming cruise, and I went to print out our boarding passes, but my antivirus program wouldn't let me open the file, with the message that it contained HEUR:Trojan.PDF.Badur.gena WHAT???? It never occurred to me that HAL's own website might be the source of a trojan! It's still too early in the day to chat with HAL. Wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them?

Thank you for this post. It was my wake up call to check to see if my Southwest flight from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale the day before we were to board Nieuw Amsterdam for 16 days had also been canceled. My booking showed that our flight was still scheduled, but if I looked on Southwest's booking page, my flight didn't even appear. By the time I knew that our flight was indeed canceled, the only flight I could find to get us at or near FLL in time was a United first class for $2200 a person (YEOWCH!!) Luckily, we were still three days out from the cruise, so we threw our bags in the car and drove to FLL. It was a wonderful 16 days.

Dress code for evening on Nieuw Amsterdam
mightycruisequeen replied to rabbit72's topic in Holland America Line
I'm sure you'll find a few people on your cruise who will frown on sandals or flip flops in the evening, but frowning is likely their default facial expression.🤭 -
We've never booked a cabana club on HAL. That said, after reading about your experience, I'd say the odds that we'd be looking to book a cabana club on any future HAL cruise just fell to pretty much zero percent. Mr. VIP sounds like a total tool, and the fact that he's getting away with his boorish behavior is probably most concerning. What if he decides he wants to smoke up there? Is that gonna be okay too, since he's a VIP?

It's pretty funny how many posts you'll see here about people supposedly not properly dressed in the main dining room . Honestly though, on the ships, most people are just enjoying their cruise too much to get worked up about what others are wearing to dinner.

Yes. Period.😊

My thoughts are that you are good to go, and you don't need advice! Have a great cruise!

Bait & Switch - Itinerary Change
mightycruisequeen replied to teh3505's topic in Holland America Line
We got the same notice today. We're not thrilled, but still happy to be cruising again, and I don't think we've ever been to Bimini. Been to Key West tons of times. -
Thanks for your review, especially all the photos!

HAL further relaxes protocols...
mightycruisequeen replied to BermudaBound2014's topic in Holland America Line
How much longer would you have them wait? Until they go completely belly-up? -
I'm really hoping the OP comes back to tell us the cabin they had. We've got an upcoming cruise on that ship too.😬

The sky is not falling. Breathe. Go take a walk outside. We're not all gonna die. -
Standard protocols - no Covid testing??
mightycruisequeen replied to cruisegirl06's topic in Holland America Line
Try this; you only need to know the ship & date & # of days: https://book2.hollandamerica.com/protocols/?voyage=all It's good for all 2022 sailings. -
While I've never personally spoken to a rude HAL rep, I've certainly gotten incorrect/conflicting information from a few. It shouldn't be that way in a perfect world, but here we are. I've also read a plethora of incorrect information on Cruise Critic. This is sometimes a great source for info, but not always.

What is your best onboard money-saving hack?
mightycruisequeen replied to newtocruiseinblue's topic in Holland America Line
DH & I don't drink alcohol anymore, and that simple lifestyle change has resulted in so much savings on cruises. Being teatotalers absolutely rocks! 🙂- 124 replies
