  1. Thanks everyone for the input. I won’t be continuing to monitor the thread for now. Juggling too much right now. We are happy with our stateroom and its location. This is a 4 person room with a sofa and trundle. We are excited and not worried about the tight space. I will review the stateroom and our experience after the cruise. on a side note, the TA, offered us several available staterooms, WE chose these 2 due to location and because 2 were close together. (One room between).
  2. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I just wanted to know the type of berth for the 4th person, I have confirmed it is a trundle. People assumed it was a 3 person room sold to us on error. We appreciate all the input we get even the negative. We have no worry about the tight space, we have done worse over the years. We have no doubts it will be a lot of fun. We will likely laugh about how cramped the room is for years. It’s OK. We did run the price for 3 rooms, this was a 3rd and 4 th person free (only port and tax) so it was a significant difference. Like you, we don’t spend much time in the room and we will use the savings for shore side experiences.
  3. We just experienced that type of crowding on an Alaska cruise on Majestic Princess. Everything but the Main Dining room was crowded ( the food and service in MDR were horrible). We are going with the expectation of crowding, hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but it’ll be OK either way. But on that cruise we had mini suites and the boys had their own room because grandpa was with us and he only shares a room with grandma. DH and I shared with the girls, it was 7 nights, but with a couch and an overhead Pullman in a much larger room. (And good size bathroom)
  4. Thanks, grandma had all 4 kids in a 5 person Carnival OV, about 5 years ago. Granted the kids were a lot younger, but it was still cramped and we had a great time. That was an unexpected invitation for a nephew’s 21 birthday cruise. (Not originally in our annual vacation budget). This was a great deal that we just happened to see (at the top end of our Fall Break budget) good timing. So we decided to dip into our Christmas budget and go for it. AND there will be A LOT of laughter.
  5. It is stateroom 8128, It is not a 3 person room, It is a 4 person room. The deck plan legend just didn’t specify the type of berth for the 4 th person. I assumed it was a Trundle and just discovered through a review on another website, that it is indeed a Trundle under the couch. Crowded when it is out. Sorry I thought I had mentioned that it is indeed a 4 person room.
  6. It will definitely be an adventure, We’ve done worse but the kids were younger. Bathroom situation is basically the same as at home. (We have 2 for 6 + guests)
  7. I really enjoyed reading your review and seeing all your pictures, I wish we were on a longer cruise, That isn’t possible this time. I am really looking forward to our cruise. even though it is short and we will be packed in like sardines. I must have given the impression that I thought this was a 3 person room, I do not, I am aware this is a 4 person room, it just doesn’t specify the nature of the 4th berth. I am assuming (I know, I know) it is a Trundle. Pain in the back side, but lucky us were on a cruise.
  8. I bet this is what we’ll have. I wonder if the desk chair will fit in the corner at night.
  9. Our TA via her call to Celebrity. Celebrity told her can’t be changed without penalty. Could this be a HUCA situation? (a different agent may give different info?) TA didn’t tell me the penalty amount, I should have verified that. If it is smallish, $100-200 ish, perhaps we pay the penalty and move, if it’s more it would take too much from our activities and incidentals budget. The room was just over $2000 for 2 rooms, 7 total people.
  10. Yes, but they said it is not possible to trade without penalty.
  11. Saw I misspelled berth and forgot the comma , but it wouldn’t let me edit.
  12. No upper birth but it is a 4 person cabin, we are thinking it has a trundle bed.
  13. We asked about a trade, they said we can’t without penalty. Oh well, 3 nights it will be an adventure.
  14. Room 8128. Thanks for the prayers! We can always use them with this bunch, small rooms or not. It’s only 3 nights, it was a great deal and perfect timing for fall break so we grabbed it. We actually have 2 rooms, grandma and 2 girls in one. We could put dad and the boys in one and mom could share with grandma and the girls, (8 & 13 yo)
  15. The deck plan has the square, (and only the square) single sofa bed. It makes no mention of bed type for the 4th berth)
  16. We have a balcony cabin on the reflection. There are 4 of us, parents and 16 and 19 yo sons. Our Cabin says it has a single sofa bed. Has anyone had one of these. How does it work with 4 people? Is there a trundle or do they bring a roller bed? Does anyone have a picture with it set up for 4? Any guidance would be appreciated. Our TA isn’t sure and I do not find phone reps to always be accurate about onboard info so I have not tried calling them.
  17. Exactly same scenario for us Victoria July 6, Seattle July 7. Filled out a form day 2 of our cruise, medallion off and medallion at the gate in Victory to return to the ship, No customs check or forms in Seattle.
  18. I would echo that, as pertaining to our last cruise. (We are only platinum, not elite) I am not giving up because of one pretty awful cruise. Actually, we had a great time, but it was in spite of, not because of staff and amenities. The main dining room food was mediocre to inedible. I know food is subjective, but I don't know anyone who prefers, gristly meat, flavorless entrees, gelatinous desserts (that should be creamy) dry flavorless cakes, grainy cheesecakes. The service in the main dining room with the exception of one night with one specific waiter, was really slow and you could tell they were understaffed to the point the waiters were overwhelmed and just don't care any more. ( I don't blame them but it creates a circular issue, unhappy waiter= unhappy guest=unhappy waiter etc, ) We did experience good food and good service in Alfredos, and my son said the specialty restaurants "The Catch" by Rudi and Crown Grill both had good food, but the service in 1 of the 2 was pretty bad, I don't remember which. I felt like I was on Norwegian,(I know some people love NCL, they are not for us) where my belief is that they make the free dining so bad that you will pay to eat in the upcharge restaurants. I would not say my steward was terrible, but I would not say he was good either. My experience was also skewed because I did not like the ship and that is totally on me, I did not research enough before booking. I booked on dates, itinerary and I thought this would be better for a multigenerational group than HAL, But for me, there were too many people, the layout was choppy and the Piazza loud and crowded. The buffet was too big and confusing, and the seating in the buffet, theater and other venues was not adequate for the number of passengers. Unfortunately/fortunately, my only other 2 cruise experiences post pandemic were on Seabourn and Disney, both of which had great food, service and amenities. So I don't have any post pandemic mainline cruises to compare to. But definitely a major decline in previous pre pandemic Princess Cruise experiences.
  19. Perhaps the APP issues vary by device. Could also be the user error, tech is not my strong point. The previous APP functioned well for me and was easy to use. This new one seems buggy and was cumbersome for me to use. Just my experience.
  20. I was not very clear in the way I worded that in the post. We didn’t have robes though requested, yet my son and his wife did. (This was their 1st princess cruise and they were in a premium balcony, we were in a mini suite and I am Platinum and my DH Ruby). Not a biggie but why ask and then direct your staff to disregard? The addition of the comment about the APP was a separate issue. The APP has issues and is worthless, robes not withstanding.
  21. Warning very subjective opinionated post…..Honestly, I have cruised 6 times with princess. 1 Sapphire, 1 Royal, 1 Coral, 2 Golden and just returned from the Majestic. A bunch of Holland America, a few Carnival, a few RCCL, 2 Disney, a Celebrity, an NCL and a couple of ultra luxury lines. On Princess we’ve been in a mini suite on all but 1 Golden Princess cruise. The Majestic was our least favorite by far. We did not care for the layout. The piazza was very noisy and the noise spilled into Alfredo’s and The Catch by Rudi Making it difficult to enjoy the company of dining companions. But we could have been jaded by it being woefully understaffed and the service all the way around was pretty bad. Service can vary from sailing to sailing, but never in 28 cruises, regardless of cruise line, have I been told if you want a bowl there are some by the salad bar. ( which was a ways away from the dessert area and I was asking because there was rice pudding as the hot offering. The attendant said “we just use plates.”Really, for runny-ish rice pudding?) The balcony even in the mini suite is very small and shallow. The public areas are not adequate for the number of guests this ship carries. It was often difficult to get seats for more than 2 people in the buffet, This was an Alaska cruise and it was cold and breezy on the open decks, so this may be less of an issue in a warmer climate where tables in the pool area and on the aft open air deck would add some options. Shows and games were often standing room only if there was even room for that. Just our experience and we have loved Princess prior to that. Perhaps our previous Royal class sailing wasn’t full, our recent majestic sailing had well over 4000 passengers. But we didn’t experience the same over crowded feeling on the Royal Princess.
  22. I ordered in advance and they were not here when I boarded, I know I can ask my room steward, I have not. I find the new APP inferior to the old APP and in many instances pretty much worthless.
  23. Yes I know the difference in “there” and “their” I didn’t catch it before I posted and couldn’t figure out how to edit it.
  24. We are on Majestic Princess currently (6th Princess cruise, 2 Golden. 1 Saphire, 1 Royal, 1 Coral) the dining service is slow and pretty poor. Messing up orders, long sits between courses, sitting with empty water glasses. food is also boring and mediocre to downright terrible. Desserts, something I really look forward to on a cruise, are terrible. Desserts I have had on past princess cruises, that were creamy and delicious, are flavorless and gelatinous. I think the new vision for executives at Princess is to be like NCL, make the food and service in the included dining so bad people will pay for the specialty dining and premium desserts. (Although, rumor has it the premium desserts aren’t much better). NCL built there ships with the thought of people using alternative dining venues and has a lot of options, Princess doesn’t have enough Specialty Dining capacity to cover the number of people unhappy with the included dining. I know everyone has their reasons for why they enjoy cruising, part of ours was the all inclusive value it provided. If we have to pay as much for food onboard as we do on land, that value is no longer there. If the entertainment is meh, the special touches are gone ( no pillow chocolate, no towel animals, no attention to detail, no desire to recover from service or operational mishaps, no live commentary on the scenic cruising days etc) Why bother with the cruise. Frankly, I’m embarrassed because I brought 10 new to princess customers with me (1 new to cruising) and it’s been one fiasco after another, glitchy APP, crowded ship, poor food, lack luster activities and entertainment, they all think the food, service and entertainment/activities were better on Carnival. Granted that was pre pandemic. We are not ones to write off a company over one bad experience, we know things happen, so will likely try another princess cruise in the future, based on itinerary and competitive pricing. More people than ever are cruising, our sailing is very full( numbers haven’t been mentioned but I know several of the 3 and 4 guest cabins indeed have 3 or 4 guests) so I am sure we won’t be missed or make a big dent in the bottom line, but if things don’t improve, we will move on. Post pandemic we have cruised Disney and Seabourn, (I know, I know higher price and higher expectations) there were no significant changes in Disney from our cruise with them 9 years ago and our Jan 2023 cruise, The food was actually better than the previous. First Seabourn and it was a splurge we won’t be able to make often (40th Anniversary, 60th Birthday, as well as not traveling during the pandemic) but, as should be expected at that price point, service, food etc were fabulous.
