  1. So, my thoughts on flight etiquette. I, too, am a rule follower. Yes, other people may not be. As far as bringing properly sized carry-ons, regardless of me being a rule follower, it is the smart choice. Even though they did not enforce it on your flight, they could. Some gate agents are more strict than others. Some agents are proactive and will assess the situation. (By flight load or looking around the boarding to see how many carry on bags are there) Some simply don’t care and take a “when the space is gone it’s gone” attitude. Basically, I comply with the rules not only because I tend to be a rule follower but also, it is the best chance I have at my bag not being gate checked. Like you, we have a segment on a carrier with more restrictive size and weight than the rest of our flights, causing us to purchase new personal items and possibly borrow a lighter carryon for Mr. Imescaping. My carryon is small lightweight just under 4lbs (1.8kg). Mr Imescaping’s bag meets the size but is nearly twice as heavy (7lbs, 3.2 kg) as mine. Air France allows a total 12 kg combined weight of carryon and personal item. Reading the flyer forums some people have been burned for ignorance to or pushing their luck with this policy. Incidentally, this is the shortest flight segment of our 6 total segments and for that segment alone we had to adjust our baggage. The other five segments would easily accommodate our usual carry-on/personal items. As to all of the above, (Dogs, busses, bags) it happens, some people are not courteous intentionally or not. I am sure I have made my share of etiquette faux pas. This cruise is a stretch for us, we are not in the “typical” Seabourn financial demographic, but are splurging for my 60th BD and our 40th anniversary so I am sure we will make some mistakes. Hopefully people will just roll their eyes and move on. 😊
  2. Thank You, I am really looking forward to this cruise. I am glad we are not relegated to Room Service and Movies on the TV for the evening on formal night.
  3. It will be our first SB cruise July 23 on the Ovation. We don’t want to pack formal attire ( hubby Jacket and an extra pair of shoes, me formal dress and an extra pair of shoes) So, if I understand correctly, on formal night just the dining room is formal attire, NOT the entire ship. I have some casual dresses, slacks and blouses for the other nights. I guess my question is this. Can we enjoy the other dining venues and entertainment if we don’t dress in formalwear? I would have posted this in the dress code thread but it has been locked to comments and figured this may be the next best place to ask my question.
  4. First Seabourn cruise for us. We don’t drink alcohol. What non alcoholic drinks are available for our fridge? Ie. just soft drinks and water or are there juices we can request? (Specifically Apple or Cranberry) What brand soft drinks? (Coke vs Pepsi) Thanks in advance, feeling a bit out of our element.
  5. Thank you all for your responses! This helps us plan what to pack.
  6. I saw an old thread ( 2018) talking about self serve laundry on the Ovation. The deck plans don’t show laundry and websites that list amenities say no self serve laundry. Did Seabourn remove them or are they still there just not labeled? I tried searching but couldn’t find any recent discussion of laundry facilities on Seabourn.
  7. We had a 3 year old when we were there several years ago. She loved the splash pad and beach. They have life vests. I don’t recall if we went to the dig site. But all the kids 3-9 had a great time at Castaway Cay.
  8. I saw there was no answer to your question. I may be too late and not helpful anyway. I was not in a balcony, but on deck 2 oceanview there were outlets next to the bed on both sides. The were 2 prong only. I can’t guarantee but would think it odd that OV would have them and not balcony. They have added an additional set by the desk also. (they appear like a newer addition perhaps in the 2018 renovation, we didn’t have them on our 2014 cruise)
  9. On the HAL website it says if you haven’t booked yet you can Get the info by “voyage number”. Anyone know how I find out the voyage number for a particular cruise?
  10. I find this to be happening at land based restaurants also. I wonder if it is more a matter of supply issues vs. cost cut backs.
