  1. Sounds like you are describing Regent Cruises. It really isn't as expensive as many people might think it is. Price it out.
  2. We live Upcountry, which is rather away from most tourist spots - a fact we like. If you are open to possibly visiting the area, you might check out places such as Ulupalakua General Store (locally raised lamb and elk burgers) and the winery next door; Surfing Goat Dairy; Ali'i Lavender Farm; Ocean Vodka; shops on Baldwin Avenue from Makawao Avenue to the Cemetery; the Distillery across from Hali'imaile General Store; Holy Ghost Church, etc.
  3. Maui is an easy island to navigate by car, and renting a car is a popular idea. You can see and do what you want at your own speed. Do you have any particular interests?
  4. Pacific Beachcomber comes to mind. We sailed in a Grand Suite after they took over, and we felt the ship was a bit long in the tooth.
  5. What actually seems more popular is the "Block Party".
  6. Try "Malasadas". They are made throughout Hawaii and not just Oahu.
  7. Suspect you meant to say "Dunes", but your computer thought elsewise.
  8. Thed 45 minute driving time that was mentioned earlier on here is pretty much correct if traffic is moving on the pali, but that was back in normal times before the fire.
  9. Just curious why you are interested in how far the "Maui port" is from Lahaina?
  10. Do note that you will be on Maui on Sunday, October 1st and Monday, October 2nd - NOT the 2nd and 3rd.
  11. We must caution that the walk you describe is two miles long on a street that has rather heavy traffic all day. Not the best walk. The museum charges $7.00 for admission which, to us, is high for the sleepy little place it is.
  12. Do note that there is nothing to do in Kahului, as it is a commercial/industrial port area that does not cater to visitors. Rent a car (roads are easy to drive on Maui), get some free informational brochures (such as 101 Things To Do On Maui. - and they are available on line) and make your own tours. There is so much to see that does not cost a fortune and/or stick you with a bus load of people.. Don't limit yourself. Google is your friend.
  13. Stewards may open the dividers in an attempt to get a larger tip and get in your good graces, but it has also been mentioned that if he/she gets caught doing so they will be dismissed.
  14. Have to add that you can now get reservations for this week at a certain popular restaurant in Kuau Cove where a several month wait was not unusual. This week?? Never thought we would see that happen.
  15. We Googled "Lei Greetings" at Honolulu International Airport and you should see many choices for obtaining lei. What a nice idea, and we certainly hope it works out for you!
  16. How are you doing and how is your side of the world?
  17. OK, but it is a different world up here. What has not lessened is the feeling of disbelief.
  18. Just curious what will draw the guests returning so soon?
  19. BermudaBound2014 - Sorry for the delay in responding. It has been an unreal time, but we are fine and our home has done pretty well. An emergency evacuation was ordered for our area if we felt we should go, but we elected to stay. Water is still being air dropped in an area above us, but the smoke has lessened. Our electricity, telephone, internet and such were all out at the same time and the wind gusted to 80 mph. That was fun. We had no communication with the outside world until just a while ago. All of this pales in comparison to Lahaina, There are no words...
  20. It sounds like this would make for a very tiring and long day. How many hours did it take you to do all this?
  21. Curious which Regent ship caught your interest.?
  22. Dom Perignon is $199 per bottle and Veuve Clicquot is $69 on the list of Regent Bon Voyage gifts, so it looks like it is still on board. Veuve Clicquot is the welcome champagne for the upper suites and we believe Monopole Blue Top welcomes guests in categories F through H. Please correct us if we are wrong.
