  1. Last year Princess offered a $1.00 deposit promotion on Valentines Day, does anyone know if they are going to offer it again this year?
  2. Agree with the Allen Marine suggestion above. We had a great experience on their whale watch- nice size boat, very stable and easy to move about both inside and out. Going with them again this summer (booked through cruise line).
  3. We are doing a NB cruise then 2 nights at the Denali Lodge and 1 at McKinley Lodge and 1 in Anchorage, I believe the tour code is EA4. Upgrading to the longer tour in Denali. Using McKinley to rest and hopefully get good views of the mountain.
  4. We took the large boat (Allen Marine) thru Princess on our first cruise to Alaska 15 years ago and loved it. We saw many humpback whales, saw them bubble feeding and got to hear them “sing” through the aqua microphone. Amazing. We were also lucky to see Orca’s. We liked the larger boat because we were able to walk around and spent time both inside and out watching the whales. We did not have any problem with sea sickness. We’re going back to Alaska next summer and just booked the same excursion.
  5. There was a $70. per person difference on the non-refundable vs. refundable option for our deluxe balcony in Alaska next summer under the 3 for Free, a savings of $660. or $520. (plus we’ll get the pre-paid gratuities and OBC). We’re trying to decide which to take. This is our first experience with non-refundable/refundable. What would you do? If we take the non-refundable and cancel I accept that we won’t get cash back but can we apply the deposit to another cruise or do we totally lose the deposit which will be about $700.?

    Alaska June or July?

Thanks for your replies! Prefer cooler temps also and like the idea of snow still in the mountains. It might result in more wildlife at lower elevations (?) too. Haven’t cruised in 10+ years, not up on ships but I now see what you mean about deck space. Only two ships, Royal and Grand, do itinerary we want and the Royal date in June works better for us. I believe this is its first season in Alaska (?) so will have to read upcoming reviews and may have to reconsider. We did book a balcony so may be okay.

    Alaska June or July?

Considering a Denali Explorer cruisetour (Vancouver-Denali-McKinley-Anchorage) on the Royal Princess next summer, can do either June 13 or July 11, is one preferable over the other and why?

  9. Fifteen years ago we did a round-trip Seattle Alaska cruise on the Diamond Princess (Dolphin deck). We are considering a northbound Alaska cruise next summer on the Royal Princess. Would starboard be the “land” side on a northbound cruise? Would Caribe deck be somewhat close to the water? Would we overlook the lifeboats too much? It appears the balconies do not overhang like they did on the Diamond?
