  1. I agree completely with what was said above. I've struggled to take the photos with my iphone and at check in, they just roll their eyes and take another one. Seems to me, the last time we boarded, we didn't do it and they just took them at the pier. We've just done the online check in and all went thru just fine without the photos....boarding passes, luggage tags, etc are all printed and done. Figure Cunard can sort out the photo thing......
  2. We love "duck", but also enjoy cornish hen, turkey, goose and the occasional red meat. We are looking forward to being back on the QM2 this month, but we're also cruising with Regent and occasionally Silver Sea. All are different but the same in that they offer good food, great itineraries, and lovely passengers. Non of the above are as huge as the QM2. Some people are totally loyal to one particular cruise line or ship, but we like to change the menu up, depending on destination and cost. With the track being so fast with so many choices, it depends on what you like. There are no bad choices these days.
  3. I just watched the new YouTube video and it give us a good idea of what has been done. We'll be boarding in Dec. so it was nice to have a heads up on what to expect. I didn't see anything that warrants a "WOW, that's different" sort of reaction, but everything shown has a fresh, clean glow about it, befitting the "Queen". We look forward to seeing her in all of her newly found glory!
  4. Am I really reading this right? OMG, say it isn't so!
  5. If you've got a travel agent, use them. I wouldn't think of trying to plan a fairly expensive endevour without ours. They know all of the ins and outs of travel AND they may be able to find some perks for you.
  6. AW! Love this! We're on the QM2 for Xmas this year....we've never done a Christmas cruise before and are hoping for holiday decor, and some fun! QE looks great! Hope her sister will follow suit!
  7. Thank you, Gumshoe! Really pleased with the photos you’ve posted! Thank you for taking the time!
  8. Queen's grill cocktail lounge (the most boring lounge on the ship), stern grill's hot tub area, deck chairs, any change in the Chart Room? Anything done to any of the cabins? Thank you in advance!
  9. Old Lady reporting in here.... You can lay all of the theatrics on me anytime. It's the only place left where you can get it and not need to remortgage the house. Dining is, theatrics to us....
  10. Found ours Feb.5th Grandeur, under Feb listing....... Maybe not functioning for other months?....or just in general. So far, so good for us, anyway!
  11. Check for a deposited cruise received this am and deposited within the last hour. Very happy. Would love to come back to Crystal, but we've yet to see itineraries that interest us unfortnately.
  12. Several years ago we did a Regent cruise from Monte Carlo to Rio....fabulous itinerary, but I digress... Our flights were delayed and re routed ( a mess) but made it to Nice. After a call to Regent, we had a Mercedes suv as big as a dump truck pick all 4 of us up. A ton of luggage only filled part of the truck, ah, car....giggle! We stayed at the Fairmont Monte Carlo which was so very wonderful....still some happy memories. After near panic state (can we make the connection, will we get there in time....etc.) the drive was most enjoyable and the Fairmont took wonderful care of us....we were in an ordinary, balcony cabin, so it didn't seem to matter what catagory we were in....... Long story short, I wouldn't worry too much about your transfer......
  13. Just checked our account and what's written above is correct.....at the moment, anyway! Glad to see that Dec. 31 is now "Gala"!
  14. Does anyone know if the cheese cart is still available in PG? Will be disappointed if it's gone!
  15. Back in the dim dawn of time on Royal Viking ships, there was a tiny arrowlike figure that was incorporated into the carpet design that pointed towards the bow. There were also carpets in the elevators that were changed daily and announced the day of the week......loved that!
  16. Now that at least some of you have made it to the ship(no small feat) could you give us a report of how your cruise is going?
  17. And 3 of us! can’t imagine not dressing!
  18. I've been following along since the QM2 and have enjoyed all of your posts (as usual!) We have missed you in the past and hope to be hearing more of your travels in the future! Thank you for taking the time to post! Best, L&J
  19. Not just hideous, but dangerous. Only a matter of time before someone crashes and burns trying to get in the water.
  20. Champagne snorkel was quite difficult to get in the water as entry way into the water was extremely rocky with stones the size of grapefruits and larger. Very unstable. I made it in but John aborted. Some bubbles (hence champagne) but nothing to write home about. All in all, not worth the risk, imho.
  21. Although this isn't written in blood, so to speak, I'd think that checking in at the Regent desk and telling them your intentions, that would be enough. I'd think if your luggage is tagged with your cabin, deck, etc. it'll be picked up as per usual the morning of embarkation and will go directly to the ship/cabin. I don't think the Regent folks would mind if you took your own transport to the ship.....less on the bus!!
  22. I think that the "included" hotel is pretty much a crap shoot. We've stayed in 'em all, from the sublime to the ridiculous. It's doesn't really matter where you're embarking from, Miami, Sweden, Italy, etc. Back in "the day", we stayed in a terrible hotel in Stockholm next to the railway station. Small, odd shaped room with only duvets on the bed. (yes, I know they do that a lot in Scandanavia ) Room was so dark that even with the drapes wide open we didn't know whether it was 7am or 7pm...haha! The morning's entertainment was watching management chase the homeless out of the breakfast buffet....you can't make this stuff up! On another upscale cruise line, we stayed at in Iceland, the room was so small, I've seen bigger bathrooms, so it's not always Regent! Most recently we stayed in the Biltmore in Miami. Yes, a world class hotel, but our bathtub had been refinished and the glazing was in pieces near the drain....ummm.....well, not so good. Breakfast was terrible... On the wonderful list was the Fairmont Monte Carlo....died and gone to heaven and included and our next one is the Mandarin Oriental in Miami. I want to be buried in one of their bathrobes. Again, included.. So I guess what i'm trying to say is if you really want to be sure where you're staying, book your own. Even then it may not guarantee what you're getting....
