  1. To answer you directly. No Celebrity doesn't inforce it's rules. Should they? In my opinion yes. When you book you accept all the Booking Conditions not just the ones you like. If you don't like the Booking Conditions book with a different line.
  2. Just relax. Everything will be sorted on the ship including a meeting to explain all the details. Celebrity don't usually do a lunch.
  3. We have all of John's books and each is a revelation. His talks were indeed the highlight of any cruise and it was truly a previledge to listen to him. The only lecturer we have heard that comes close, although on a different topic, is Jim Kennedy who was the Director of the Kennedy Space Center throughout the moon landing period. His talks are usually packed. His talks are preceeded by various personal videos of the astronauts.
  4. You are correct without the drinks package we, and many other others, enjoy: free speciality coffees and teas, get enough water during the Elite hour, and don't drink soda or mocktails. Are we in favour of drinks packages - yes. Are we in favour of compolsary drinks packages - no. We are also not in favour of compolsary WiFi. We are also in favour of tips being included in the basic cruise price.
  5. Passenger pressure helped get Cruise Only fares reintroduced for all cabins upto Concierge. I assume the same would happen if enough Aqua and Suite passengers made the same arguments and, more importantly, stopped booking.
  6. When the afternoon drinks were only in sky lounge the rules were that you shouldn't can't take anything out of the lounge. The same rules might apply to the breakfast. It costs nothing to ask, you could even bring a take away cup with you from the Al Bacio.
  7. Thanks. Location is indeed important or at least it is for us. Deck 7 centralish is our preferred choice.
  8. Just curious, apart from the extra points what are the benefits you find do attractive in Concierge? We have done it once when the upgrade was 💲25 for the whole cruise as it got us to Elite+ a cruise earlier. On S line ships the cabins are the same size. We don't have shoes that need polishing, nor do we use umbrellas. We would use the foot stools but our cabin steward always brings us 2 in exchange for 💲20. What are we missing out on?
  9. You get reciprocal benefits but only up to Elite level. Any points earned on your Celebrity cruise stay with Celebrity so you start from Zero to get to Elite+. My personal opinion is that unless Concierge is very cheap it's a total waste of money stick to a regular balcony. The Cocktail Hour is 2 hours, there is no limit on the number of drinks which can be ordered in any bar (not the dining room). The list of available drinks is limited and if you have booked with AI there is really not much benefit. There is no Elite lounge. The Elite breakfast is held in the Tuscan Grill and is our favourite way to start the day. Basically continental breakfast, fruit plates, coissents, pastries, smoked salmon etc. - all pre plated but they will make up plates to your specific requirements. Also smoothies, fruit juice, speciality coffees, sparkling wines etc. Other benefits: 90 minutes each premium internet, 1 bag each wash and fold laundry. For a full list visit Celebrity Captains Club.
  10. Which for X is basically the same problem. Any Class of ship that cannot/doesn't generate a lot of repeat business is in the end going to fail.
  11. Anything. If you have left over Australian or New Zealand money use that first - much cheaper than changing it back. After that switch to 💲 , it makes no difference to the crew as the ship will change any currency for them.
  12. A great decision and wonderful to see you have thought about it in such detail before getting on the ship. Have a memorable cruise.
  13. It's very simple. From September all cabins (except Aqua and Suites) on all cruises (except the Galapagos) are available as Cruise Only or you can upgrade to All Included which is tips, standard WiFi and Classic Drinks. Aqua and Suites are only available as All Included. This is great news as now everyone (except Aqua or Suites) has the choice which is exactly how it should always have been. It also means solo passengers don't have to pay for 2 internet packages and, even worse, 2 drinks packages. This is particularly good news for all Elite+ and above who, like us, don't drink alcohol and have no need for unlimited WiFi.
  14. Please repost mid cruise when you have had a few days to try your cabin fully. Especially interested in if you find the chairs comfortable enough to relax in for a couple of hours. Would there be room for a foot stool? How is the cabin temperature and humidity affected if you have the window open for an hour or so? These are the main concerns which have put us off the IV's. Thanks, enjoy your cruise.
  15. Selling yes but the long term question or possible problem for X is selling to who and will those passengers book again? If regular X passengers try the IV but then revert to S or M ships for the traditional balcony that will be a problem. A lot of posters have indicated that they will be doing exactly that including those who book Aqua. If new passengers to X try IV but only book once again a problem. Having to continually find new passengers is much more expensive than retaining existing ones. Finally despite the hype Edge Line ships still have lots of special offers and it seems it's just the Suites and cabins with real balconies that are selling fast and at premium rates not the IV's.
  16. Impossible is the simple answer. My wife uses a 4 wheel folding Rollator and we always have the bed next to the balcony. It won't go past the end of the bed unless folded which basically useless. My wife doesn't need it in the cabin we fold it and store it at the end of the couch next to the wardrobe. Also avoid adjoining cabins unless you will just be using the outer doors as the inner doors open inwards. The magnets on the inner doors only work if you are using the outer doors. You can make extra space by sliding the oval table part way under the vanity unit, still leaves space to sit and you can use half the table. Access to the bathroom would be virtually impossible with a Rollator and would very dangerous on exiting it. A disabled cabins with flat access to the bathroom, shower and balcony is your best and in my opinion your only option. Book very early these cabins sell fast. Geoff
  17. Correct, you can't book on the ship only online pre cruise.
  18. Wow 8.0am, that's when I have my first Latte of the day in the Al Bacio, then Tuscan at around 9.15 for breakfast.
  19. Clearly you jest. If you were at the Elite event clearly it couldn't have been your first cruise. First on Celebrity perhaps but certainly not first ever.
  20. That's how I understood it. So the only reason for having to wait is when/if too many passengers turn up at the sametime. This also explains the lines that sometimes form outside Blu at breakfast resulting in passengers swopping to the Elite breakfast in Tuscan or v.v.
  21. Really easy to book Select, you do it yourself with very little hastle. Just annoying that if you want to book for every night as you have to do it one day at a time not in one hit. We find early to early and late far too late.
