  1. That's too bad. Poor Sarah, that is a rotten and painful injury to have. I hope her sciatica isn't too bad if it is in her lower back. I did have very successful surgery for mine. But it was sure a painful wait getting to that point.
  2. If I order an occasional soda at a bar with the DBP, they rarely ring it up. I usually give them a dollar anyway.
  3. I see that silly little tree on the sandbar is still holding on. ☺️
  4. AARP sells them at a 10% discount, but from what I have read, they are a PIA to use. I don't know what sort of gift certificates the OP is referring to.
  5. She never did that. 😀They don't have very sticky pads and there was a lid on her tank. She was pretty calm. I would buy her a dozen crickets every 2 weeks, and they would be chirping madly...and then it would get quieter and quieter, until it was time to re-stock.
  6. If your husband is serious about quitting. I am getting to that point. He should try acupuncture, hypnosis or Chantix at home. A vacation is not the best time to try quitting. But thanks for the warning about their sessions.
  7. We haven't cruised in March before either, but decided to join some friends. Not only was the cruise kind of high, but the airfare returning from FL to CA is insane. We probably won't be doing it again.
  8. That would freak anyone out! They are huge spiders, and you wouldn't want him in the car. I don't really mind spiders and used to keep pet tarantulas, but I really wouldn't like being surprised by one of those. ☺️
  9. We have clay soil everywhere here, I think. It is how they made the Adobe BRICKS for the early buildings. It is slippery and very heavy. You can almost make clay pots out of it. ☺️
  10. I can't believe how many people they have shown with their cars stranded in floodwater.....And they just drove right into it. 🙄 No one here knows how-to drive-in snow, or rain or floods. And you are correct, they will probably still complain about not enough water next summer. Or it will start again in 2024.
  11. Thanks for asking. We're having great fun here. (Not) IT"S WET. Localized flooding, mudslides and trees down. We've been fine, and actually sat in the backyard with a neighbor for a couple of hours this afternoon. But the forecast looks like more miserable and dangerous. There has been local damage, but the house races haven't started yet. We are in the hills, and not close to creeks, so as long as we can keep power and the sump pump running, it should be okay. I only have small, well pruned trees in my yard. I am keeping an eye on a neighbor's uphill pine tree.
  12. Family & toddler now, Bob? Congratulations! We haven't seen you for a long time. ☺️
  13. Cabo is definitely the best place to see whales. https://whalewatchcabo.com/whale-watching-cabo-best-time/ They breed and give birth in the lagoons in Baja in February and March. PV is a little south of their usual migration pattern. IMO you will see more whales on a Cabo excursion.
  14. Radiance does not have the Izumi Hibachi area with an upcharge. We like Izumi on Radiance; they have the Hot Rock or did. And their Samba Grill was great. Just don't fill up on the salad bar/. And silly. For ships that have the Hibachi venue, it is a $10.00 upcharge. Not bigtime at all. 🙄
  15. As soon as you board, go to any restaurant and make reservations for your entire cruise. The reservation system is all connected. A tip would be to figure out where you wish to dine and what night and time in advance, and write it down, so you can just give it to the reservation person. Radiance has a lot of nice restaurants for a ship of its size.
  16. I like the squirrel! I haven't seen the armadillo before either. I think Star Class receives the cool towel animals. Did you find what @PompeySailor left you in the rocks yet? ☺️
  17. The ones on RC say something like "Sleeping off the Excitement" and "Out Enjoying the Thrills". I never looked at them as a request to make up the stateroom, just to let them know when your cabin is unoccupied. We like to sleep late, and don't really care if the cabin is made up once or twice a day. Fresh towels, bed made, and trash can empty, and we are satisfied. I suppose we could have "texted" them in Lake Tahoe to come and get the trash, and replace the towels, but it wasn't worth it.
  18. I generally always tip hotel housekeeping $5/day. I didn't leave a tip at all for our last 2-night stay in Lake Tahoe in July, because there was no housekeeping service. You could only communicate with them by text, if you needed something. It was not my idea of service, for what we were paying. (Which was more than cruise costs) 🙄
  19. We had a lightning strike on one of the dishes on Navigator, so we had not much of internet or anything for six days. Except the same music videos, over and over again. 🙄 But I think that is rare. And it was quite a few years ago. ☺️
  20. That's certainly okay Helen, and no worries. They were just asking about nice areas/towns near Palo Alto. And I am not that familiar with the area, but I know you are. Mountain View is nice. We've been there. ☺️
  21. Yes. I volunteered Helen, @FromSea2ShiningSea when you first posted, asking about her accommodations. But I think she missed it. They definitely do know more about that side of the bay. ☺️
