    Ok still in catch up mode from what didn’t go this morning.

    So, last night I went down to the MDR once the dinner rush was over and there was Aris at the podium.  (Some of you might remember him as manager of Club Orange on the Pinnacle Class ships).  He is in charge of our section of the dining room.

    I asked if he had a minute to chat and nicely told him our waiter was abysmal.  Doesn’t refill water glasses, wine, (doesn’t even have the opened wine out ready), no comments when food is undated, doesn’t ask about how the meal was nor have any knowledge of the Club Orange specials, etc.  I told him I thought he needed more training but I was not prepared to sit there and asked if her could help.

    We are now at a table for 6 (which is what I had originally requested) although it appears we might be the only ones there.  that’s fine.

    Our waiters are superb.  Just how it should be.  The wine was boyfriend fast and will be ther the next time ready.  Club Orange menu provided.  Both are congenial and wonderful.  Dinner last night was night and day compared to dinner the prior 2.  So glad I spoke up (as if you could keep me quiet 😉)

    Dinner was delish - good service really helps 😉

    the club Orange short ribs - delish.  So tender you only needed a fork.  No knife required.

    All in all very good and we left two very happy campers - or is that Merry Widows 😉

    Doing a birthday dinner in the PG tonight for Deb and of course, we let our new waiters know.

    Is this the Aris that pulls a laminated card with his name on it out of his jacket?  We had him on the K for the 35-day in 2023 in CO.

    My pictures below are from our three BHB stops in Kona,  We were there in 2014 on Veendam, and in 2017 and 2018 on Westerdam.  We rented cars those days and drove north to Kapaau.  I have a few pictures of the area near the tender dock that were taken in 2017.

    Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    I don't know much about hemp. Yay for Kindergarten; I don't remember it, although I have my report card from it saying I was shy. I think I would like chocolate covered cashews, although I've not seen them for sale. Funny quote. The meal looks good. Maybe on the drink and pass on the wine. I haven't been to Scarborough.

    It's cloudy and cool here. There were frost warnings this morning. I again got more sleep, about 5.5 hours, in segments. I had a late Hibiclens shower, maybe that helped. But you can't put on any lotion and I usually do, with my dry skin. I feel like I have a lot to do, and don't know where to start. I'm trying to prep the downstairs den for if I decide to sleep there a few nights initially. I won't worry about food; BFF is bringing a crockpot meal that we'll have on Tuesday. I appreciate all of the prayers and good thoughts for tomorrow.

    @kazu Bon Voyage! Have a great time on your cruise.

    @VMax1700 Bon Voyage!

    @bennybear Happy Anniversary! I'll make note of the correct number of years. Great photos from Kanazawa.

    @sailingdutchy Happy Birthday!

    @StLouisCruisers Sandi, I hadn't planned to have a substitute or take sick leave. The surgery will be outpatient, unless something untoward goes on, so I'll be home by evening. I figure doing the lists will give me something to do! I can use my tablet from the recliner or my PC which is in the room I'll be hanging out in. If I need help I'll reach out.

    @grapau27 Thanks for the link and the explanation about hemp.

    @smitty34877 I'm glad the family arrived safely and that everyone gets along well. So nice that Tana was able to be at the table with everyone for dinner.

    @Overhead Fred Beautiful photos from Keukenhof; I've not made it there yet.

    @marshhawk Please be careful with your foot and get it looked at if it's not getting better.

    @aliaschief Looking good! Great photos.

    @Nickelpenny Thanks for the photos from Scarborough.

    @Cruising-along A troubling update on Amber, but I hope the surgery will improve her condition. Continued prayers for her.

    Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

    Vanessa --- prayers & hugs for you, your surgical team, your post-op care team --hoping that everything goes smoothly, that you get significant pain relief in hospital & at home....this is a big step & GOOD LUCK!

    Dec 2023 no good way really to avoid the mob, but there was a line specifically for 4*, 5*, suites & CO. You have to be diligent about showing that & the Priority on the boarding pass as they will try to just put you in the lines.

    Was the line outside or inside?

  5. When you are 4* & boarding in San Diego, is there a special line (either outside or inside the building) to get into?  When we boarded in 2023, we weren't 4* but were booked in a Neptune.....we were in the mob in the building where nobody asked what our status was...noticed some people just walked right up to the check-in booths....what was their status?  I guess basically I'm asking how to avoid the mob.....TIA.

  6. Thanks for the replies....I'm waiting for more & waiting to hear from our PCC to see if things will transfer along with the new offer....  Liked the space of the Neptune suite & really liked CO on the K.  Can't remember our experience on the Z except it wasn't unfavorable.  The only smaller ship I didn't like was the Eurodam.

  7. We really liked the K with CO on our 35 day cruise in 2023 & have it booked for a December cruise BUT...I found a Caribbean cruise on the Volendam & am having a hard time thinking about going back to a smaller ship without a separate CO....see my signature for the ships we've been on & convince me which one I'd like better, please.  TIA.

    Sorry everyone.  I haven’t been on a whole lot and apologize to all for any losses, worries or concerns I have missed.

    I am just too stressed and depressed.  The foot has not become less painful and I was told to get into the doctor yesterday.  She has prescribed some stuff but very concerned and I am to see her tomorrow morning first thing.  At that time, I will be advised if I can go on the cruise or not.  I’m supposed to be leaving Friday.  Had no heart to pack any further yesterday.

    To say I am depressed is an understatement.

    I'm sorry Jacqui - somehow I missed, or have forgotten, what you did to your foot that's causing you such trouble.

    Vodka Collins cocktail:

    The vodka collins is a simple, refreshing, and popular mixed drink. Made with vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, and club soda, it's really just a sweet and sour vodka soda (and just as easy to mix up). The quick but charming cocktail is a perfect happy hour choice for vodka drinkers, and its clean, crisp taste makes it ideal for dinner.

    Ingredients:

    1 1/2 oz. vodka
    1 oz. lemon juice
    1/2 lunch simple syrup
    3-5 oz. club soda to taste
    Orange slice to garnish
    Maraschino cherry for garnish

    Directions:

    In a collins glass filled with ice cubes, pour the vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup.  Stir thoroughly.  Top with club soda.  Garnish.

    This used to be my drink of choice - have to try it again.

    The burgers at Dive-In are really good, better than most cruise line burgers.  The hot dogs are also good.  People I know rave about the fries.  I don't think you will be disappointed doing lunch there.

    I had an issue with the one (& only) bratwurst I ordered - it wasn 't even warm in the middle!  It was gross!!
