  1. I'm happy to report that Ocean Ready crew called back and left a message this afternoon (yes on a Sunday, call probably from oversea which is their Monday) and informed me that the 50% discount medallion net purchase issue has been resolved on the app.  I immediately logged onto the app and purchased it for my upcoming cruise.

For reference, I called last Wednesday 9/28, first talked to a customer rep who seemed to have dealt with this issue before and asked her to check if I have more than one captain circle account.  She checked and there wasn't so she transferred me to Ocean Ready.  The rep at Ocean Ready whom I talked to also gave me the impression that she had dealt with this before and said she would open a ticket.  It would take a few days and she would call me back for an update.  She did keep her words!

Well then, purchase the stock with abandon!

Unfortunately, I am well aware of capital loss carry forwards.😆  And there’s the whole short-term vs. long term thing too. But, really, the lower the stock price goes, the less downside there is to owning it. However, placing large deposits on CCL cruises far into the future is another matter.

Agreed.  For that reason, I am seriously considering cancelling my world cruise 2024 to get my deposit back.

I sail next week and the medallion app still shows wifi at full price.

     The website shows this:

    Unlimited and Affordable Internet

Choose from one-device or four-device packages, starting at just $9.99 USD when you purchase pre-cruise through the MedallionClass app. Platinum and Elite guests get an exclusive discount of 50% off.*

*Discount will be applied on board in the form of an onboard credit.

I hope it’s refundable. I’m skipping buying the wifi this trip and will hotspot my phone. Unless I can buy it at the elite $5 daily price on board but don’t have much hope they’ll do that.

It looks like Princess deliberately want to charge full price on elites and platinums, hope they spend the discount in the form of OBC onboard.

  4. Just when the next version of vaccine is around the corner, this change of policy of allowing unvaxed with no limit is premature.  My opinion only - will be cancelling my cruise as I do not want my cruise to have a higher probability to be disrupted to evac some unvax pax who had fallen seriously ill on the ship.

Same is happening to me today and the previous 4 or 5 days.  Every time I try to login I get this and it won't let me go back.

I it changing my birthday by 1 day back each time I try and login.  Very frustrating since we are leaving soon.  I am waiting on my Vacation Planner to call me back.

    Ugh.

Using you booking number to get to the personalizer to manage your booking without logging on.

It would provide a solid answer to the question you are asking. You and your traveling companions who also have insurance would be entitled to 100% of your paid funds back in cash, as opposed to an FCC.

Thank you! The cruise is paid for by FCC to begin with.  The only possible unverified benefit I could think of is with Princess insurance, maybe there is no expiration date for the refund FCC, and plus the cancel for no reason freedom if I don't like their protocols or service level.

  7. On 10/1 when the cruise with confidence and protection program expires, if you are denied boarding because of a (+) test, will you be entitled to a 100% FCC?  What is your take?

According to the Princess FAQ dated 7/11:

Guests who test positive for COVID-19, as well as their family members and close contacts, will not be allowed to sail and should not travel to the ship. If you, your family members, travelling companions or other close contacts are suspected of having COVID-19 and are not permitted to board, you are entitled to a 100% Future Cruise Credit (FCC).

If you are denied boarding at the pier because you tested positive for COVID-19 on embarkation day, change fees and reasonable expenses related shoreside quarantine and travel home for you and your immediate travel party will be covered by Princess if not reimbursable from medical insurance, a travel protection plan or other responsible party. Any meals during shoreside quarantine will be covered by a per-diem meal allowance as communicated by a letter provided by staff at the pier. (No receipt retention is required.)
