I looked at the beverage packages & deemed it not worth our while to buy any of them . We have 2 cruises B2B ,one a 7 night & the other a 5 night , We will bring 2 bottles of Shiraz & 2 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc ,all are Charles Shaw from Trader Joe's . Those 4 bottles will last us for our 3 Special Restaurant reservations & a bit left for the MDR lobster night .We are not big drinkers Occasionally ,I like a diet soda with lunch & we will just pay as we go

I just did the transaction with our TA on a cruise we already booked , The TA got my credit card with Chase credited & placed the $1000 on my American Express Blue Cash credit card . HAL did charge $25 to do this ,Still a $275 net credit is nothing to sneeze at .Helps defray cruise I did a one time $1025 .00 charge on HAL which included the $25 handling Fee 😁 .works for me

That is what I said in my post . The higher the cost to cruise the lower the number of potential people who could afford this luxury . Therefore , this deadly killer of inflation could sink the cruise lines who rely on the mass markets for survival & profitability

With what is happening with inflation & the importance to protect their cabin prices if the cruise lines added fuel up chargers ,imo ,they would be pushing many more people away from booking cruises . Insurance is not cheap plus other cost items to get to & from a cruise pier . Bottom line is when you add it all together less & less of the general population will be able to afford cruises . Thus ,imo ,if the added ant fuel surcharge to the cost the bookings would fall immediately

Opec announced a 2 or 3 million barrel cut back in oil supplies . What type of pressure do you think that will put on Holland America cruises ?

We spoke with HAL in Wasgington yesterday & was told that 18 mmonths to new itineraries . We are most focused here in the San diego cruise port because we can Uber to the port . .We wanted to know what HAL plans are for Koningsdam from San Diego after Feb 2024 ,This is when the representative said that it is up to 18 month for new roll outs for itineraries . I would not jump to conclusions about Carnival corporation to meet their debt service payments But I would encourage people to add to their insurance vendor default or bankruptcy for the cruise line .

Better R/T out of Seattle than Vancouver ;because the air fares are cheaper into Seattle than a international airport like Vancouver . Imo better to fly into Anchorage for a R/T air ticket ,rent a car & see the interior like Denali & Fairbanks ie .more to see including glaciers ie .Stay at the Denali Lake view Inn ;which is a AAA triple diamond bed & breakfast .Best ,cleanest & over looking Lake Otto with a private balcony .Stayed there 5 days ,Went on tour of Denali ,Got clear pictures of both North & South summits of MT Denali . Did this in May & had great weather ,no mosquitos or black flies

A lot of the pre pandemic staff either found local employment or figured out that they would not be making the same amount in tips because the ships are not carrying the same number of pax as they did pre pandemic .In either case the cruise lines are scrambling to replace people .Then there is the problem of training I can tall you first hand that Princess Cruises has very green /untrained land personnel . I for one will not cruise with them because of the frustration I personally went through with over 6 hours on the phone & no solution to their "Ocean Ready " tech garbage .I threw the $935 FCC into the round file & booked a Holland America cruise where the info was on line the old fashion way .

This is the real bottom line , As cruises become more expensive less people will be able to afford them . The real Facts speak loudly The working public is getting 5% salary increases while inflation is more than double those raises .It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that sooner or sooner later less people can afford less amenities in their lives .First comes the rent or mortgage , electric & gas for heating then food then clothing ue in that pecking order . How about those higher & higher gas prices . Yes cruise prices will go up but ,if people can no longer afford cruises who will fill the ships & if the ships can be filled then who pays the huge debt that has to pay interest on ? Called debt service

wow these prices to participate are high . When we go to Cabo San Lucas ,Mexico on cruises ,there is a huge glass blowing factory in Cabo who will make what you want & even better is a smaller glass blowing between Cabo San Lucas & San Jose Del Cabo & they are much cheaper . I got 3 glass clowns feet & hands put back on at no cost but gave them $5 tip . .The glass blowing going toward San Hose Del Cabo is on the left side of the road in a small store community of buildings

Test of time .During the next 5 to 6 months much will be known as to where CCL is headed as well as RCL & NCHL brands . I just made some profits selling the CCL stock I just bought . This bear market bounce will not last much linger .Right now I am in a cash position after taking nice profits off the table .Looking to short this market once again with a triple S&P short symbol

There is the possibility that companies like MSC or Virgin could be waiting patiently on the side lines with huge cash pockets to buy ships on the cheap . In todays financial environment any company needs to conserve it's cash & free cash flow . Yes there could even be buys of .10 cents on the dollar of assets , Seen this before as well

Hank I take out vendor default within my cruise insurance policies . I have seen this type of financial problem before . It did not end well

Bought 100 share of CCL today ,Oct 3 ,2022 for $6.90 per share . Taking a 7 night HAL cruise Dec 10,2022 on koningsdam to Mexico & getting $100 OBC . ,So my downside will be $590 .00 after this OBC .I think this is a good risk

This is a new ball game . with a global recession & high inflation there is no telling who will be able to stay in business . . what business can't do is print money like the Federal Treasury Dept does in trillions of dollars & throws it at every thing under the sun This is why we have this big inflation . what I am very concerned about is not just inflation but Stagflation ;which is inflation & no growth .

Interesting comments & thanks to every one . We are Elite Plus level & working toward Zenith ,so we like Celebrity . The only other cruise line we like is holland America being some what similar to Celebrity . We are in our 80s & that being said we enjoy laid back cruising watching the ocean & seeing the occasional rainbow

We are on Koningsdam for the Dec 10 ,2022 Mexico cruise ,my 84th birthday is on that cruise

Got to wonder if mother CCL corp stock pricing being so low has any thing to do with the delays in new itineraries , We too want Koningsdam to remain in San Diego except for dry docking or maybe they could dry dock here as well

Yes we are aware of what we might do individually on a cruise critic roll call . My purpose here was to say why after quite awhile into start up now that X does not recreate the Celebrity M&G party . all I can assume ;which I hate to do is that X is cutting back on any costs that they can get away with . We always enjoyed these parties as well as battle of the sexes ie .

Then it seems to me that this is not a temporary discontinuance but more permanent . Now what will people do if they decide to do a roll call Meet & Greet . Should they contact the ship events coordinator with Celebrity to set up a place on the ship with light refreshments ? I do a lot of Fun slot Pulls & Fun Craps Rolls on the cruises that I am booked on as well as Meet & Greets ;which I do on many cruise lines .On other lines it is easy to accomplish these activities . Why is it so hard on Celebrity ships ?
