And obviously it could be a hundred different things but don't be surprised one bit if cancellation notices go out in the next couple days as they look for a dry dock to complete the repair. With Panorama last fall, they got exactly one 'limp' cruise in before she was taken out of service for approximately 45 days.

Today on the Vista we are in Freeport and we’re supposed to leave at 4:15pm. But apparently they are attempting to work on the situation today and we won’t leave Freeport now until midnight.

What happens if you had Cheers and you decided to disembark and get a refund of 125% FCC?  Do you get refunded for Cheers?  And if you do, what if you already had 10 beers?  LOL

When they were making the announcements. They did state that every package (Wi-Fi, cheers etc) would be reimbursed if you wished to leave. I’m not sure about what happened if you already had several drinks from the cheers package. Especially since cruisers had until 7pm to disembark the cruise. I had to go to guest services today and while o was there I asked how many people disembarked the cruise. They said not that many around 125 cruisers.

  4. I am on the Vista on this sailing. It does suck to lose the good ports, but vacation is still vacation. It didn’t seem like we left Port Canaveral until after 9pm.

if you stayed on the cruise you received $400 obc per state room and 25% future cruise credit.
if you left the cruise you received 125% future cruise credit. Or a full 100% full refund. And up to $200 per person for independent travel expenses. IMG_0120.thumb.jpeg.6d813cee7badec9c85b0166fd8aecb26.jpeg

  5. I cruised out of Charleston last year. I stayed at the Andrew Pinckney hotel and walked to the ship in the morning. It is an easy walk down Market street. Take Market street to the end and make a left on Concord st. When you get to Pritchard st and see where the bus exit is that is where you enter when walking on the ship. There will be port workers at this entry. When I went one of the port workers told me I had enter on Washington street where the cars enter. I walked around there and they said that was for cars only and sent me back to the first place I was at. Asked another port worker and he told me yes this is where you enter. Once you enter the gate you will see porters on your right to check your bag. Then you enter the terminal building.

No. I always add $1 per drink when I sign the receipt and that goes on the S&S account. If I end up with one or two servers during the cruise who get to know me and go above and beyond, I'll switch to cash tips and then I also try to find them on the last day and do a larger cash tip. I've always found the casino servers to be among the friendliest and most attentive crewmembers on the ship.

    Thanks

No you don't pay any extra for drinks on us.  You will have the option to leave a tip when you sign the receipt for each drink.  I tip $1 per drink and that seems to get me great service.  I mostly drink water.

Thanks. I always give them a dollar with each drink when I’m on the cheers package anyway.

  8. I have rented several villas at HMC.  No one is going to be at the villas to regulate how many people are coming or going.  you will get a set number of sodas and water along with a fruit tray.  I haven't been to HMC in a couple of years.  Last time I rented a villa I had to go to shore excursions as soon as I got on the ship.  At this time, they ask what drinks you want and most importantly what villa number you prefer.  I don't remember anyone asking for a head count.

Yes - it should be no more than 10 minutes, and you could easily walk it unless you are travelling with steamer trunks.   We have stayed at the Indigo Inn (same area) - all close by.  If you have not yet made dinner plans, consider High Cotton - on East Bay - even closer than the port.   The Pinckney is sure to have a street map - it really is easy to find your way.

Thanks!  Is the drop off location behind the Harris Teeter supermarket on E Bay St.  I was trying to figure it out on a map.

Maybe the Andrew Pinkney Inn would know?

Thanks for the reply.  I've had bad experiences asking directions or getting important information from the front desk at hotels.  😀  I try to avoid relying on that.  i was hoping someone who has been dropped off at the port would know exactly where to go so I'm not walking up and down the street trying to figure it out.  I did look at google maps and a map posted on a cruise site that showed the drop off and parking entrances.  I think I figured it out.  It looks like the drop off entrance is right behind the Harris Teeter supermarket which is located at 290 E Bay St.

  11. I am staying at the Andrew Pinckney Inn for my upcoming cruise next week on the Carnival Sunshine.  According to MapQuest this looks to be a 10-minute walk.  Looking up the port it is very confusing to me.  It looks like there is a drop off location separate from the parking location.  Does anyone have an actual address for the drop off that I can put in my phone to use as directions.  And also, can I walk in this entrance without a vehicle.  Thanks for any help.

  12. I live in the Baltimore area and have cruises on the Carnival Pride 6 or 7 times. I would definitely go on NCL if they come to Baltimore. With Baltimore cruises the ships have to be smaller in size to fit under the Bay Bridge. How they handle parking now is Carnival cruises park in the lot to the left of the terminal.  The RCCL lot is to the right of the terminal. They only will have one ship in port on a certain day. Usually Carnival 7 day cruises would leave and return on a sunday. When the Baltimore cruise port first opened Celebrity Mercury also cruised from Baltimore, so maybe it had accommodations for 3 ships to home port with parking from the start.

  13. I was able to snatch one of the $35 cruises when the email first came out.  I had several choices to choose from.  There were a few $10 cruises that were coming up at the end of November.  I ended up picking the sunshine out of Charleston leaving Feb 10th. I could also pick any interior room on any deck including porthole and forward facing window cabin included.  I went with an interior on the 5th deck close to all the bars and the casino where I plan on spending most of my time.  I am going solo so it was $70 + $107.86 taxes + $55.96 gratuities for a total of $233.82 for a 4 night cruise.

Casino hosts have always told me that people aren't necessarily rated on much $$$$ they spend in the casino, but rather, the time spent there.

I've heard people say they lost a bundle and a "bundle" to them was $100 for the week.

I've seen people play $75 a spin on a slot machine for hours and they don't blink an eye.

I gave up trying to figure out how they decide who gets what.  As long as I keep getting my offers, they can figure it out however they want.

They used to hand out the free cruise vouchers on the last night of the cruise if you had earned enough points but I haven't seen that in a few years.  I get e-mails every single day with offers and they are all different.

Casinos use what they call the ADT (Average Daily Theoretical)to calculate comps on table games.  The formula is similar to this: Theoretical = (Average bet x hours played x hands per hour) x (House Edge / 100)  So every table game has a different House edge which would give a different ADT for what you play.  Something like black jack is easy for them to calculate once they see your average bet.  Something like craps is a little more difficult.  They don't count back odds.  Some don't really look at place bets.  so you might have a lot of money on the table but the pit boss might only rate you for what you have on the pass line.  Slots are more lucrative to play and easy to calculate.  most casinos give you 1 point for every $5 run through the machine, and 1 point for every $10 run through a video poker machine.

  15. Ok thanks. $5 craps table would be great and make my bank roll go farther. I just got off the Kiss Kruise which was on NCL Gem and all the table games were $10. But that was a chartered theme cruise and maybe that had something to do with the minimum. That was first time I saw $10

  16. Looking to take advantage of the $35 fares.  Looking to do a solo gambling trip.  Has any gamblers been cruising the last few months and know what the table minimums are on carnival.  I mainly play craps, but also will play 3 card poker and Roulette.  I am looking at the Carnival Breeze out of Galveston.  The Carnival Elation out of Port Canaveral, and the Sunshine out of Charleston.  I haven't been on any of these ships.  Any input on the casinos on these ships would also be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

  17. Just following up on my question if it was to early to send in for stock holder OBC for a cruise on August 2021. I sent in the form and stock statement last night. This morning I checked my emails and it was approved and there was an attachment showing the summary for the cruise which included the stock holder  OBC Along with the OBC I received when I booked the cruise last week.

  18. Summer and anytime schools are out the rates definitely go up. The maim thing I am looking at is the kids cruise free incentive. Looking in summer 2021 there is only like 4 cruises with this incentive. I was looking for one of the newer ships but none of those available. Last summer I was able to do the bliss in Alaska with the kids cruise free.

  19. Looking to take advantage of some of the deals NCL is offering.  I am looking at a cruise summer 2021.  kids free, all the free at sea promotions, $120 obc, and 30% off.  cruise out of miami on the sky family of 4 in a family oceanview for $3182 including all the taxes and gratuities for open bar and dining plan.  the website states today is the last day.  i was debating booking today or seeing if there will be a better deal next week.  i know at the beginning of the week the 30% off sale stated ending today then the next day it stated ending in 3 days.  do you think the deals will get better or just go up?
