  1. We were on this ship over Xmas and absolutely loved it; Your review was right on the money
  2. Martini Bar, Poolside Grill and Omelete station in Oceanview cafe; Also the Spa cafe in the solarium has AWESOME breadsticks
  3. Our Travel agency has a cruise expo every January, with lots of perks; Last one was $150 OBC pp and 2 additional perks(pre-paid gratuity, classic drink package, etc.) ; The more expensive the cabin, the more perks you get
  4. This is true. If your photo sucks the check in person has a tablet and presto chango the new photo replaces the old on
  5. The APP has all the tools you need before and during the cruise; You can view menus, IM anyone that you add to your chat, check balances, daily activity. We found it INVALUABLE when communicating with our kids; Also, the express pass on the AP, allows expedited check in [ less than 5 minutes]
  6. We were in 3138 last week; Excellent location, NO NOISE FROM ABOVE; Theater, dining room, Martini Bar, as well as Celebrity Central and casino are only 1 deck above; Plenty of elevators too; 8 aft and 4 fwd; really quick to as there were no Yucky kids who think it is fun to press every button
  7. YUM-O wish i would have know this; The frozen dreamsicle was awesome too
  8. I did it in parts because as I think of things I create another post; Long posts tend to be boring and people can't remember all the info. I know there was a midnight mass service as well as an Xmas day service; Since we don't celebrate xmas, didn't pay too much attention I don't like the idea of not seeing your bags until your final destination; We tried this once out of SJU and the porters went through my wife's luggage and stole all here jewelry; Had to get a police report, and then file a claim with our homeowners insurance
  9. Southwest in FLL has a 2 hour window; FLL does have a private storage facility that costs $8/bag
  10. Yes there are Movies ON DEMAND; Some are Free others are for a $15 rental charge
  11. 11. BARS; The Martini Bar on deck 4 is an absolute must; At 4pm they do a show where they stack martini glasses and make approx 60 martinis. The pool bar was always busy at sea days. Never made it to Craft social but during NFL game days it was packed. SLUSH unfortunately didn't open up until Thursday for some reason. 12. CRUISE STAFF - OUTSTANDING!!! Dan the CD and Kelli the AM were always personable and even though their jokes were corny, they always managed to keep us informed on their morning show on CH5; Velli was a HOOT trying to pronounce some of the words at trivia, and Kate was a master of the Audio Trivia games; Capt. Thasos was approachable and funny and would answer any questions presented to him. Guest relations took care of issues promptly and efficiently[ DD's sea pass card as well as the clogged toilet issue]. 13. ONBOARD SHOPS - Typical of a cruise ship with two levels of shopping. Cruise wear, watches, jewelry perfume as well as sundries and souvenirs; Waited until the last day when they have the clearance sale and every ting is 50-70% discounted. 14. CABINS - We had an outside cabin midship deck 3. Ample storage space and hangars, Showers use bulk dispensers and you get one facial soap bar, which lasts and lasts all week. Thermostat was top notch as our cabin was always cool and comfortable. Nightly Dark chocolate squares during turndown service (NO FREAKIN TOWEL ANIMALS thank god). In room safe and a nice 40" HDTV on a swivel. Another plus was the automatic night light in the bathroom when all the lights are out as well as an illuminated bathroom light switch 15. DAILIES - see attached [sorry somehow lost Wednesday]
  12. 5. SHIP ACTIVITIES - A cut above RCCL; No Bingo, Belly flop or drinking contests; Instead more sophisticated games like Deal or No Deal (where you and the audience can win up to $1000), Frisky feud,Minute to win It, Bocce Ball, Daily trivia, Music trivia, and my favorite Water Volleyball Tournament, Guests vs Crew( single elimination semi's and then the winner plays the Crew on a 1 game 30 pt championship game[which our team won by the way]) 6. CASINO - Small but adequate with enough table games to keep people involved and plenty of video poker, Keno, and slot machines, as well as 2 crap tables; Table minimums range from $10 to $100 so pick your poison; 7. NIGHTTIME ENTERTAINMENT - Always a 7 and 9 show; Singers, dancers, Comedian, Family Magician, Comedian as well as an Awesome Journey Tribute spectacular; Because it was a Holiday cruise, American Ballet theater presented the Nutcracker; In addition, there was the arrival of Santa, Full Moon (wear your whites) party and 2 Silent Disco nights; 8. HOLIDAY EXTRAs - Santa's gift giving activity for the kids,Kids Xmas Holiday parade with Santa, Daily Hanukkah service complete with Latkes and Sufignot, and Gelt, Sabbath service with an actual Rabbi and Challah 9. PORTS of CALL - Did not use any of the Ship sponsored excursions; SJU walked around old town, then Barrachina's for the Original Pina Colada and appetizers, STT took the ferry to St John and spent the day at Trunk Bay, Tortola - spent the day at Cane Garden Beach complete with beach chairs and Lunch; Nassau, the weather was bad until about 3pm then just walked around downtown and got some chachkees; 10. DEBARKATION - Smooth and easy very organized, except that some jerkwad took my son's bag by mistake; Luckily we were able to track him down and exchange suitcases before he left the pier; Had 8 hours to kill before our flight so we took a Lyft to a movie theater and saw UNCUT GEMS; BTW, SW in FLL won't allow you to self check bags until 2 hours prior to flight
  13. Had a fabulous time on the Equinox; Our 1st time on X and found it much more to our liking than RCCL; Dan the Cruise director was great and Capt. Thanos was so funny and personable; Now to the Thoughts and Observations[IMHO] 1. EMBARKATION - Smoothest I've had in my 30 years of cruising; Preloaded the Xpress pass and was on the ship in about 5 minutes; Welcome aboard Champagne was an unexpected plus; Dropped our carry ons at the cabins, where our SeaPass card were waiting; Then off to explore the ship and get lunch; Muster drill was quite painless and over in about 30 minutes. By 6pm our bags had arrived [TIP: Give the porter a nice gratuity, and the bags arrive quicker] 2. MDR - we had select dining at 8:30 and always managed to get the same table every night; The 3 whipped butter selections as well as bread basket is a nice plus from RCCL; Ate all dinners in the MDR and did not have one bad entree; I myself loved the Prime Rib, Lobster, Lamb Kebobs, and even had 2 fish entrees; Desserts were just as impressive 3. FITNESS CENTER - Never crowded at 6am, complimentary headphones, as well as cold face towels are a nice perk; Equipment is plentiful and in excellent working order; Locker room is fully equipped, but only has a Sauna, not a steam room; 4. OCEAN VIEW CAFE - Lots of selections to please everyone; LAVAZZA Coffee, tea, juices, and lemons for water are at multiple beverage stations; Omelet station was usually busy by 8am but fully staffed and moved quickly; Never had an issue finding a table, and if you want to eat Al Fresco, the tables outside are NEVER full; 5. POOL/SOLARIUM/DECK CHAIRS; 2 pools an the pool deck one for families one for older children and adults; SOLARIUM was peaceful, tranquil and hardly ever 100% full; Age requirement was usually adhered to but they do have family times from 4:30 - 6:30 every day; Deck chairs were plentiful and did not see the chair hogs in action; Always able to find 3-4 chairs together, even after 11am
  14. Agree with the the majority; Food taste is subjective. I know people who think Applebees is a fancy night out; After 7 cruises on RCCL, we noticed that the food quality has decreased to just OK; We go in knowing that it is hard to server 2000+ people at a time, so we just go with the flow; X has much different offerings than RCCL so we[DW,DD and me] are excited to try new dishes. DS will stick to Steak and Bake every night; On board tomorrow; CAN'T WAIT!!!
  15. Has anyone done the Old San Juan Food tour? Is it worth the $100pp; What kind of places do you visit/foods to sample?
