  1. In Venice, the Alliguana[sp?] or Water Bus is the easiest way to get from airport to hotel and back; Costs 30e for a roundtrip ticket, and it is about 1 hr in duration; Very simple to use. There are 3 different lines, so depending on where your hotel is determines which line to use
  2. YES this is the ship The ship is in port Thursday[embarkation] and Friday [1st port]. We opted to stay in Venice on Wednesday and explore the city for 1.5 days. No Need to rush to the ship on thursday. If you get there by 4pm, there will be NO CROWDS and check in is a breeze. Then check out Ravenna on Friday and explore on your own. 3 hours is more than ample time to see everything
  3. NO!! Water taxis are SUPER EXPENSIVE; Alliguana is only 30e pp R/T
  4. We picked up our shuttle at VCE at 1pm; Only 10 people on the bus! USB ports for charging phones, A/C, reclining seats too! 3 hour drive , with a 15 minute pit stop for snacks or potty break
  5. Celebrity has a FREE shuttle to/from the port. That being said, we walked the entire city in about 2.5 hours. Had lunch at Alice Pizza, and Gelato just down the street. The Mercado de Ravenna also has some neat shops as well as a supermarket [ water for only 0.50e]!!
  6. Yep that is 100% true; They are in a plastic cup. This guy had a BOTTLE of CORONA
  7. MORE NOTES: Solarium rules are strictly followed: A man had a bottle of beer in the pool and was told to leave Fitness center is WELL EQUIPPED Pursers office can exchange euro to dollars and reverse ATMs dispense DOLLARS Afternoon trivia is crowded, while morning trivia is NOT; NO prizes though; just for fun 15 questions Eat breakfast in the MDR at least once; Food is made to order and a lot better Never had to wait in line or search for pool chairs In the OV café, the waffles are all the way in the back as well as the French toast and pancakes
  8. We booked ALL of our shore excursions thru PRIVATE tour companies; They were better, cheaper and WAY less crowded than the Celeb offerings; Forget about the threat about missing the ship. ALL tours have backup plans, cell phones, and standby transportation. They also know that with social media, I missed trip or bad review will SINK a business. Too much competition
  9. 1. Yes that is correct: or you can get the shuttle from the airport 2. $45pp; but the cost might have gone up 3. depends on where you pick it up from; We had the shuttle from the airport and it leaves every 1.5 hours starting at 9a. Last shuttle is 330p
  10. Probably have; We had an inside room deck 7 Mid ship, and it was roomy, clean, with lots of storage space for clothes. The water coming out of the sink as well as the temp in the mini fridge is not "cold", but rather cool. A/C works great
  11. 7 and 9 every evening; 45 minutes in length; plenty of time to get to the 8pm GAME SHOW activity; Theatre was NEVER crowded, so no need to rush to get a decent seat
  12. If you have all your docs completed, it is a piece of cake. We took a 1pm xfer from VCE to ravenna, and arrived at 4p; 30 minutes later we were on the ship. BTW, the MUSTER drill is all done ONLINE, so make sure you have the X app
  13. Private tour arranged by another cruise member of the FB roll call; 11 persons, lunch and an A/C bus for $80 pp 6hr tour
  14. Movies are shown 3 times daily; morning, afternoon, evening: Never made it any of those; Ditto for dinner in the OV cafe
  15. IMHO, the food was very good, but not great. Surprisingly enough, the NY strip steak was cooked just right and was actually pretty good. Only the the OV cafe for breakfast; was just fine
  16. We actually flew in 1 day before the cruise. NO we booked it individually, and YES had travel insurance
  17. YES we indeed did use the Celeb Xfer to Ravenna from VCE airport; Easy 3 hr ride, and they do stop for a potty break and snack. Bus drops you off right at the ship and porters take your bags promptly[ if you pre printed the luggage tags]
  18. PORTS: 1. RAVENNA - Saw it don't need to return - Been there done that 2. SPLIT - Would go back in a second 3. DUBROVNIK - DITTO ABOVE Our Favorite Port of the cruise 4. MYKONOS - Loved it, need to see more 5. EPHESUS - Very cool - historically and diverse 6. CRETE - had a food tour, but a great city was Herkalion 7. SANTORINI - IMHO; this should be an AT SEA DAY; It was just a mad house in OIA and FIRA
  19. Is this your first time on Celebrity; NO 2nd time, but didn't realize the pastries were gratis You always had to pay for coffee at Bacio ; Still do
  20. 1. IMHO, the shows were good to very good; We've been on a lot of cruises, so to WOW us takes a bit 2. Music entertainment was great; Lots of variety from, Motown to Rock to soft music 3. The cruise director was Ernest[ from USA] and the assistant was Marc[ from Czech Republic]
  21. NOTES: Lobster tail is $20 for extra tail tender service is WELL ORGANIZED Cold towels and water at the ports is such a blessing Pastries at Al Bacio are free so is water; Coffee is NOT Debarkation process - smoothest yet; found bags within 2 minutes Casino only takes dollars; $5 minimum before 6pm Showers have nice pressure and temp controls Only Butter; forget about finding margarine [ live a little!] A/C in room works well; safe in room too Ample time given between evening activities Dinner service is PROMPT - no 2 hour dinners Shows were NEVER crowded; ample seating; ditto for solarium and Pool Chairs There are (4) omelet stations in the Oceanview cafe; no queues Water in the drinking fountains is COLD I'm sure I'll think of more; but this is it for now
  22. Can I tell kids to leave the solarium during the times when they are NOT allowed? Should I report them to a crew member? As a 65yo, this is my fortress of solitude, and I go in there for the peace and quiet
