Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I noticed on the MSC website (and app) that 3 Specialty Dining Experiences has increased from $71 to $110 pp. Does anyone know if the prices increased once on the ship as well. The Hola taco place was $18 unlimited and wondering what the Butcher's Cut price is if we don't want to buy the package? It was $59. Thanks for any info. Karen
  2. Thank you, I will check out this area. Appreciate the info.
  3. Hi We are going on a MSC cruise Dec 2nd. We will be driving up from Massachusetts on Friday after work (around 6). Need a recommendation for a 1 nights lodging close to the Brooklyn port (but not Brooklyn or Manhattan). Hoping to be a 30 min drive to the terminal. We are parking at the pier and just looking for a good hotel to sleep in the night before and then drive to the port Saturday morning. Can anyone recommend a good area to stay in? We were looking at Jersey City, Weekhawken, Secaucus or North Bergen. Wish would be the best commute into the port? Open for other suggestions. Budget is below $300 a night. We are traveling with another couple so are splitting the cost of parking. In April we did a NCL cruise and used the Ferry from Weehawken and that was outstanding. Highly recommend for those leaving from Manhattan Cruiseport. Unfortunately, this is not an option for the Brooklyn terminal as the Ferry to Wall street does not run on weekends. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Karen
  4. I just wanted to report back that staying in Weehawken NJ and taking the ferry over to midtown was a great option. Hotel we stayed in was Residence Inn (huge clean room) and it was seconds from the Ferry. Parking was $22 nite and we left it there for 8 nights. The ferry ride was a mere 8 minutes and the cost was $9. Had a beautiful view of the NY skyline and great restaurants to eat nearby. If you leave from the NY cruise terminal in Manhattan, its a great alternative to driving and staying in NY.
  5. The hotels in Teaneck seem to be more affordable. How was that area? I believe its a close commute to the Weekhawken Ferry and/or the terminal if we decide to drive into NY.
  6. Thanks! So much for the replies. Very much appreciated.
  7. Hi Looking for some input on taking the Ferry from Weehawken, NJ the morning of the cruise? A few posters here have mentioned this as a great alternative to driving into Manhattan and parking there. Looking for some recent experiences. We depart on Sunday, 4/30th for a NCL cruise. We will be driving down from Massachusetts the day before and staying somewhere close to the ferry. Possibly staying in Secacus, North Bergen or right in Weehawken and taking the Ferry over to Manhattan. Has anyone done this? I would love to know how it worked out. Parking here is very cheap at $22 night. The Ferry seems to run quite frequently on the weekend. I have been looking at some hotels and reading reviews on tripadvisor. The more I read the more confused I get, for every good review, there is a real bad one. If anyone has some recommendations, please send it along. Our first priority is that its clean and safe. Hoping to find a newer hotel. We will need 3 rooms. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! Karen
  8. Looking for a pre-cruise hotel recommendation for our October. 2022 cruise on the Beyond. We have an Avis/Budget vehicle that we will drop off morning of cruise (10/26 in Bayonne. We then will uber to port (its pretty close. We fly back from FLL so we won’t be parking at the port. Looking for decent hotel night before with free parking. Driving down from MA but want to get as close to port as possible. Looking to be in the $150 night range but flexible if necessary. Thanks for any info.
