Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We are on that cruise in July also. I thought I read that we cross the arctic circle on the cruise. Does anyone know this and is there any ceremony ?
  2. You know there's a night light low on the wall before the bathroom door? The switch is on near the nightstand wall closer to the bathroom (the switch is grey)
  3. @Azulann -I think every port we were in there was always a shuttle bus for you to get into the center of town and return to the ship
  4. @BobCatter - I understand about the activity level being fine for some - but the issue with some is that even tho the description says "walking" tour people don't realize it could be anywhere from 2-5 miles of walking - and because it's largely on cobblestones in these old cities that's just so much different from walking on nice pavement here in the US. @Azulamm - the included _____ by foot tours like I said above can be strenuous like the ones in Copenhagen and Karlskrona - whereas the included tours in Mariehamm and Ronne were almost totally on the buses. Berlin was a 2.5 hour train ride, then about a 1-1.5 hour bus tour with getting off at the Brandenburg Gate and riding past Checkpoint Charlie and a couple other highlights, then having about 4 hours to explore on your own and get back to your bus, then 2.5 hours back to the ship via train. Hope that helps
  5. RE Mask wearing on the excursion buses - I'd say between 25-50% wore masks on the buses - but of those 1/2 wore them as chin straps so it really doesn't matter. FWIW - our cruise had 374 passengers and a full crew - of those we "heard" by the end of the 11 days about 40 people were being quarantined - but who know's the real number - someone might've said 36 then the next person just rounds up to 40 - so who knows.
  6. The tours also have whether "easy, moderate or demanding" listed. So if you have any physical disabilities keep that in mind when choosing your excursions. We just disembarked from the Star on the Scenic Scandinavian - and some of the included excursions were walking tours of the small towns/cities. Keep in mind that in many of the European countries walking in town is on cobblestones which is a lot different then here in the US walking in the local malls
  7. OK so does Viking ask for the test results prior to embarkation?
  8. leaving 5/25 - first flight out of Pittsburgh is at 1242 pm flight to Stockholm is 540 pm. Have an appointment today 5/21 at 1:00 pm for my test - called Viking last night and the woman I spoke to told me I'm fine with the 72 hour before my first flight - that doesn't agree with what's posted above - but what do we do?
  9. 26 days out and only half of our ports have shore excursions - guessing we just have to check multiple times a day or see what happens once on board?
  10. Leaving in 32 days for Scenic Scandanavia - and still don't have access to Gdansk, Berlin, Arhus, and Karlskrona ports - IDK when they'll be opened up but I just keep checking multiple times a day - oh well
  11. Not so much a touch crowd as a rude crowd. To think that people would sit around all evening talking about what someone wears is so middle school. I feel bad for people that are such rude keyboard warriors but wouldn't say anything to your face. I'm glad I don't feel it's necessary to belittle someone on an Internet forum. Sorry I ruffled their feathers.
  12. WOW - didn't know that I performed such a "fashion faux pas" with wearing a swim coverup. But to say that tea deserves "elegant casual wear" and there were plenty of days that people went straight from their excursions to "afternoon tea" - most if not any of the people in the Wintergarden were far from dressed elegantly. On the cruise with about 500 others, I never felt that I was underdressed as for breakfast and dinner I either had on slacks with nice tops or dresses/skirts and tops. I didn't think Viking cruise passengers were so judgmental
  13. I don't know if what I did was acceptable but no one said anything to me. We were at the pool for a while, then went to "tea time" in the Wintergarden afterwards. I had a swim coverup on over my swimsuit but the coverup was somewhat see thru. No one said a word.
