  1. Can anyone advise from their own experiences how late (ie days before sailing) did Cunard allocate saver fare cabins?
  2. Can luggage be dropped off earlier than your allocated check in time?
  3. We've cruised with other lines ftom SOU where your luggage is taken off you before entering the terminal to (await) check in and boarding. What do Cunard do at SOU's Mayflower terminal? Can luggage be dropped off early? Our check in is not till 330pm, but we will need to be out of our nearby hotel at noon. We will have a lot of luggage and are worried we will have to wait outside the terminal with it all.
  4. Just to add and not to start a debate: thoughts on smart chinos for non-gala nights? Have seen this asked before but the posts were old. We're early 50s, and wear chinos out in London on a night out. We also wear chinos to the office (on the 2 or 3 days we'd actually go in). Don't own "dress trousers" any more. Might be a generational thing! We'll go full black tie on the gala nights, but chinos/long sleeve collared shirt/no jacket on the non-gala nights. Comments?
  5. We are booked on a Cunard world cruise in 2024, but travelling only as far as Auckland, New Zealand. We both have dual UK & NZ passports, with US ESTAs in our UK passports. We have put our UK passport info into the Cunard website, however there is nowhere to enter our 2nd (NZ) passports. As NZ citizens we do not need NZ ETAs. What is the process for dual passport holders as we do not want any issues at Southampton?
  6. On my upcomimg 44 night cruise, Cunard is offering unlimited fitness classes for US$99. From everyone's experience what combination of classes does Cunard offer on both sea & port days? What do individual classes cost? Sounds like a good deal as on my last cruise, albeit on Celebrity, a single pilates class cost US$20+. I hope to combine weekly or twice weekly pilates classes with the other cardio/calorie burning fitness classes, otherwise I may come off the 6 week cruise the size of a ship!
  7. The premium soft drink package includes "unlimited refreshments from a range of hand-crafted non-alcoholic cocktails, artisan soft drinks, bottled mineral water, freshly squeezed juices, smoothies, and speciality hot drinks" and from reviewing the Ts&Cs "All bottles and cans will be served opened." From those who have cruised with Cunard with the premium soft drink package, what happens in practice? Are all bottled & canned drinks served opened? May not consider the package if we can't store soft drinks/ water in our cabin (fridge).
  8. Any suggestions where to buy wide fitting black patent leather shoes? I'm going on a 44 night cruise and want to complete the tuxedo with patent leather shoes. I'm usually a UK 12 wide, and I'm not having any luck finding shoes that fit- have tried several pairs up to size 14 and can't even get them on!! Even slip-ons would do.
  9. But did you fly out to start the cruise or fly home after the cruise? Making the holiday round trip? I'm talking about a one way cruise starting in the UK, ending in New Zealand and then staying in New Zealand. So a one way holiday.
  10. IMHO I would have to disagree. I have contacted multiple insurers and so far have only found one that will ensure one-way trips. Most require you to return to the country you started in. Eveb the broker I contacted could not find any.
  11. We're doing a 44 night cruise from Southampton. From what I've read on Cunard and here, we will be allowed to board at Southampton with a bottle of gin, a bottle of vodka, and a couple bottles of wine (all to be consumed in our cabin). Can we restock ashore and bring onboard at ports of call during the cruise?
  12. We received a "speical offer" to bid for a MoveUp request on our upcoming cruise, with varying minimum bids for all classes above our balcony cabin. But when I go and try and book a cabin on our cruise to see what the price would be, all cabins are sold out except for inside cabins, What is the point of bidding for an upgrade other than for cancellations (we're already passed the payment deadline) ?
  13. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I've scoured several forums on here and asked the question elsewhere to no avail. Is there a sparking water available on the Classic Drinks package? ie is there a non premum sparking water? We've sailed several times with Celebrity before but always had the Premium Drinks package so this wasn't an issue. Our next cruise is only 7 days long so we can survive with classic alcoholic drinks, but we prefer sparking water!
  14. We're booked on a Panama Canal crossing with Cunard during a half world cruise. Notwithstanding covid, there is no mention on the Cunard website about necessary vaccinations. But on the Travel Agency website there is a reference to yellow fever vaccinations. Does anyone know (if any) vaccinations are required?
  15. We did use a travel agent. The info they have is correct. And the system says to conatct Cunard if names or date of birth are wrong
  16. We are a couple and a few weeks ago booked on the QV for a half world cruise departing Jan 2024 (still quite some time away). We are Cunard Club members. All our personal info for the Club is correct. When we logged into My Booking our date of births have been swapped. So I rang Cunard who reversed them, and I then updated the contact detaiils, next of kin, passport info etc. So everything shows correctly. But then a couple of days later all the changes become undone and I have to ring Cunard again to swap the dates of birth, and complete the contact details again. This has happened 4 or 5 times!!! The info does do not seem to stick even though Cunard are updating it. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I don't want to have to keep contacting Cunard. If this keeps happening right up to the date of the cruise, can the information be updated at the port (please note there are no flights attached to the booking)?
  17. Agree that the way we should go is possibly via a broker. There seems to be a plethora of brokers? Any UK suggestions?
  18. Our annual policy (like most) require you to return to your home country (where you started). And any repatriation would be back to where you started. This is definitely not what we want. Not telling the insurer it is one way travel is all fine until something goes well and a claim ensues.
  19. We're booked on a one way Cunard cruise Southampton to Auckland, NZ. Travel is one way as we're immigrating back to NZ. Any suggestions for travel insurance as most standard insurers wont cover one way travel (must be return)? Minimum £2 million medical, and cancellation cover of at least £10,000 pp is needed. And recommendations for insurer or broker?
  20. We are booked on the Jan 2024 half world cruise on the QV from Southampton to Auckland, NZ. Travel is one way as we're returning to live in New Zealand. Any suggestions for travel insurance as most standard insurers wont cover one way travel (must be return)? Minimum £2 million medical, and cancellation cover of at least £10,000 pp is needed. And recommendations for insurer or broker?
  21. Ahh, no. It's a 7 night Celebrity cruise to the Norwegian fjords! I've edited the original post.
  22. We are booked on a 7 night Celebrity cruise to the Norwegian fjords departing 18 Aug this year. Days 3-6 are all different port days. When looking at the shore excursions (apart from day 3 which has lots of availability) there are virtually no excusions showing or they are already sold out. Is this normal? We've never had this issue on the seversl Celebrity cruises we've sailed on before.
  23. Yes, tried that. Still available. Probably didn't go through.
