  1. We applied for a refund on our October cruise at the start of June. Luckily we had only paid the deposit. The refund was applied to our credit card yesterday. That means it was about 4 weeks. Much quicker then we expected. Our Cathay Pacific flights were cancelled at the same time and I think they are 3 or 4 weeks away from being refunded.
  2. I would like to ask a question about a FCC that I received for a cruise I ended up cancelling that I had book for my daughter. I booked it while on a LCV cruise in Alaska last year. The offer was half price deposits. We paid the deposit and was also told that if we wanted to cancel it would be a charge of $25. This offer was only during the LCV cruise. We booked on this basis as we were not sure if our daughter would be able to join us at that time. Now we have been sent a FCC for $100 stating the rest was cancellation fees. We paid $300 for her booking. This is not the offer we were given and would never have booked her a cabin if we were going to lose that much. Can someone please explain why this should happen. There is a rather long wait on the phone to try and get an answer. We would have also preferred a refund.

  4. Cathay Pacific flights to London cancelled and we had to lose $550 each but luckily we bought annual insurance back in December. We have been able to claim that. Our Qantas flights to NZ were cancelled by Qantas and we had used points which we got them all back and the taxes. Air NZ only gave us credit and wouldn’t even allow us to get a refund. Hopefully we can use the credit later next year.
  5. We travel to Canberra from Perth once or twice a year as our daughter is at University there. It’s always a shame that people travel to Australia and miss Canberra. There is so much to see and the war memorial is worth the trip. A train to get tourists there from a ship would give the foreign visitors a great experience. Working in the Engineering design business I can see how long it would take to even start
  6. We are also imprisoned in WA. We sent our daughter back to Canberra 2 weeks ago and now don’t know when she can come home to visit again. We are hoping to visit her in October but who knows if it will happen.
  7. We are sad that our October cruise has now been cancelled. We wouldn’t have been able to travel to the UK for it anyway with Australia’s strict travel restrictions. We were lucky that we hadn’t paid the full fare yet. Now we have to try and get a refund or flight credits for our very expensive flights from Perth.
  8. New attraction on Geraldton. Pink lake from the ground.
  9. Sydney December 2014 - Solstice and a Seven Seas ship I think.
  10. We were due in Tonga on the Solstice the day it hit. There we were complaining about missing the cruise and they were trying to survive a cyclone.
  11. I'm glad to see this change. We were discoverer plus staying in a suite last year. We got the same benefits as our friends staying in a suite that had no loyalty at all. Now we are looking forward to our suite next year and getting a little bit more laundry done.
  12. We should be on the Solstice currently enjoying the last couple of nights before returning to Auckland. It was very sad at the time because we had the best roll call going. I had made over 120 name tags. I just wasn't meant to be. If the cruise had gone ahead our itinerary would have had to change quickly as a cyclone was hitting Fiji when we were due there and it also hit Tonga when we were due there. So we can look at the silver lining on this cruise as we dodged a bullet.
  13. We did 14 nights in the penthouse on the Constellation. Even with all those days I don't think we used all the features of the cabin. It was wonderful having the extra bathroom as we had our teenage daughter with us. We had one afternoon tea there with a few people we had met. We were thinking of booking a suite on the Edge next year but it's port intensive and we opted on two connecting cabins. It came up $4000 less then the celebrity suite. Again having two bathrooms are a bonus. I would go for the two 7 day cruises if the extra cost of flights don't make the cost unreasonable.
  14. We are actually looking forward to the dress code. Started sailing and got all these nice evening gowns. Now most cruise ships we sail hubby doesn’t take the tux and I just take tops & pants. Sailed the Azura and that’s the last time the tux and gowns came traveling with us. we also took our Aussie flags for the great British sail away.
  15. Thanks for posting the photo. We are due on the Arcadia on October from Southampton. Fingers crossed for the northern lights. The ship looks alright.
