  1. we are packed, boarding passes printed and fly to Basel, Switzerland tomorrow on Viking Air.:)

This is a new itinerary for 2015 and altho i have done the Rhine AMS to Basel, it was 2001 and different itinerary. Some ports will be the same but many are different from my first Rhine cruise. I am looking forward to getting up and into some of the castles ?Markenburg? that i only drifted by before.

I am hoping Viking has improved their food and wine quality from my last Danube cruise; everyone has a bad day...or days..right?..

I shall report back my thoughts and impressions when home or along the way if particularly news worthy. Feel free to ask me any questions and I shall attempt to answer.

    Aloha!

My husband and I are thinking of taking this cruise leaving on April 7. Would you please share your thoughts about your experiences? Do you feel like it was worth it? Likes and dislikes? Thank you so very much!

  2. We are home after being up since 5:30 still in a jet lag mode. So I am on the forum instead of sleeping! To answer your question we are so glad we didn't do Versailles passengers went and they couldn't move it was so crowded. We did Malmaison ( Josephine Bonaparte's Chateau with our guide Martin he was fabulous). The gardens were beautiful but unfortunately it was pouring rain and limited to walking through . You need some down time it was good to have the afternoon to rest .. We were exhausted. Weather the first four days was ideal but toward the end of the week showers.. I had to buy another fleece jacket I wasn't prepared for the 49-50's in the morning. Bring a rain jacket ... Also I wish I brought my Merrill sneakers I had good shoes but the cobblestones streets were difficult to walk. I slipped and fell in Rouen It was raining and the streets were very slippery.also friends went to Moulin Rouge show good food horrible...well off to do the ton of laundry..

We are planning on taking this cruise this coming April. Where did Rinda dock in Paris? I called the office and they said they don't know yet. Thanks!

  3. We returned two days ago from a Haimark Cruise aboard the MV Saint Laurent from Portland, Maine to Montreal Canada. This was the second cruise on this itinerary on a refurbished boat with ownership attributed to several companies. The ship just crashed into the Eisenhower locks in the St. Laurence two days after the end of our cruise while enroute to Toronto.

There were many problems aboard this ship and some very nice things. A luxury cruise it is not. We were with two groups of very disappointed cruisers who had paid top dollar for trips organized by the National Trust and the Smithsonian. We booked at a steep discount through Jetsetter travel and were not expecting so much.

I don't know if Haimark will survive as a company given the disappointing level of service and damage to this vessel.

We are thinking of taking the same itinerary this coming October with Haimark. Please share what you liked and didn't liked with your cruise. Would you sail with them again? They are offering half off promotion right now.

    Thanks so much,

    Muyet
