  1. I've been looking but have yet to see what you input for arrival airport when a connection is made through a Canadian airport.  We will make a connection in Montreal  with a flight going to Vancouver.  Will we use Vancouver or Montreal as our arrival airport in ArriveCAN?

    Thanks for the input.

The luggage transfer was done on request with the Bell Captain or the Front Desk.  No extra fee for that.  If I was using a pre-cruise hotel package, this transfer was included in that package and the cruise line rep on site took care of the arrangements.

Thank you.  We do not have an interest in a complete package either, just the luggage handling.  I will happily pay a bellman for the service without any other additional components of the package.

As others have said, the Pan Pacific is expensive but incredibly convenient. I have stayed there three times with a fourth visit coming this summer. I love that the bellman takes your luggage the morning of the cruise and gets it to the ship. You don’t touch your bags again until they arrive in your cabin.

We've stayed pre-cruise at the Pan Pacific (several times including last month), the Auberge and Sutton Place.  We would stay at all again.  But it is sooooo nice to call the Bell desk at the Pan Pacific, have a bellman arrive at the room and then take the luggage to the cruise porters.

It doesn't get any easier than that! The first time we had the porter collect out bags, he was very funny. He asked us to show him our passports and tickets because he wanted to make sure they weren't in our bags.

For those of you that have stayed at the Pan Pacific, did you have to pay the higher rate for baggage transfer (and breakfast)?  Or, did you just arrange the baggage handling directly with the bellman or a concierge?

    Thank you

  4. We looked at the itineraries for Vancouver and Seattle and decided on the Eclipse.  The cruise out of Vancouver sails the Inside Passage.  We understand that the cruise is more smooth than the Solstice  sailing out of Seattle. We were scheduled to go this past August, but did a lift and shift for 2021.

Good luck. We're concerned about cruising as early as August, however we're hopefully optimistic.

I am pretty sure it was Ward Creek.  The trail was very nice and mostly level.  We were there in August and the salmon were visible from a viewing platform over the river.   Lots of scat along the way but we encountered no bears.

Overall it was a very nice hike with only a few steep inclines.

Thanks, another file for the Alaska resource folder.

I know that things can change given the whole pandemic and all but can anyone recommend the earliest flight time post cruise out of YVR? Will we have to go through customs at the cruise port and then again at whatever US airport that we have a layover at? Thanks.

Darlene, what's your hurry?  Take  your time.  😃

Seriously, I'll be interested in any comments you may have after your trip. If I recall, you are going much earlier than we will be going.

  7. The internet perk that we received for our next CEL cruise is for 2 devices. At any given time, we can have 2 devices logged in.

That information should be available to you somewhere in your documentation. You could check with your TA if you have one as well.

Makes no sense.  PreCruise Deal?  It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Time for a call to Royal. Please post on the outcome.

That's really strange.   I just checked our CEL cruise for August and it's $289 US.   Hope they figure it out for you.

  9. Another consideration for some of us is traveling with a CPAP. While CEL will provide an extension chord, it still means taking up an outlet overnight. I typically pack a power strip and sometimes it's been ok, and sometimes I have to make a trip to security. My favorite device now is a combo 4-outlet and 4 USB port outlet. It's great for travel, but I have not taken it on a cruise. At least I'm not bringing an iron on board.

We have enjoyed Concierge 1s and loved the UDP before they dumps it... made great use of Lawn Grill, Murano, and had lunches at Sushi on Five. Now that UDP is gone and we will generally do a C1 and a dining package. In this case for the difference of a few hundred dollars we were able to book AQ1 and try Blu. We shall see ...

Right now the CC1 and AQ2 are the same price on our sailing... am surprised more haven't moved from CC to AQ. Maybe thats a bad omen? Its so far out and haven't seen anything about bidding for upgrades.

Similar situation for us. We usually book C1, but for the 1/20/20 Reflection sailing, the CC1 and the AQ2 were the same price. We booked the AQ2 and took the free upgrade to AQ1. I could not justify some of the higher prices that I have seen on other occasions.

  11. I am not sure if anyone has posted this yet. I just did a search and didn't see it posted so I wanted to let everyone know...

We are just off the Equinox and EVERY drink in the World Class Bar currently costs $12. The menus looked like they were printed off someone's color printer, not professionally printed like all other bar menus. I only noticed this on the second to last night of our cruise because we avoided this bar, thinking all the drinks cost more than the $13 on our premium package, so I don't know if they had these prices all week or changed the menus mid-cruise. Either way, I had read on Cruise Critic that 3 of the fancier drinks cost more than the other 7 drinks on the menu, and this is no longer the case. ALL drinks cost $12 and we were able to try all of them without any up charges on our premium package :)

Interesting. I Feb. we found several that were covered by the premium package, like the 7/3 you mentioned. We occasionally stopped at the World Class instead of the martini bar for a change of pace. We never saw that many people in the WC Bar. Apparently they are trying to generate more sales from the space, realizing people were not going for the atmosphere or the higher priced drinks.

  12. Has anyone gone to Krystals or any other nearby recently and used a day pass? If so, any info would be appreciated. Thank you!

We really liked the Marriott in Puerto Vallarta. It's a 5 minute cab ride from the port, costing $15-$20. Works well with a group of 4 or more. The cost was 380 pesos per person, but that includes a 300 peso food and beverage credit.

  13. We'll be stopping at Alux for drinks while staying in PDC next week, have also been told the cuisine is just ok. But worth a stop if time allows.

How did you like it? We're thinking about PDC in the Fall, but we're not likely to visit Alux since there are so many other options.

  14. Thanks a lot for all the info, very useful. I contacted both Overlord and Label West for a customised tour, which will cover Omaha beach and Bayeux. Prices are similar, now I need to find 4-6 other like-minded people from our Roll Call. I did look at renting a car and seeing the places ourselves, but that will probably be the last option, only if I can't put together a group. Surprisingly most people seem to want to see only the beaches, I know they are a very important part of 20th century history but IMO the Bayeux tapestry is equally important, albeit in a different sense. But maybe it hasn't been publicised like the D Day beaches. Anyway, thanks again:)

I agree with Turtles06. There are several challenges you're facing. First, is the time it takes get to beaches and cemetery. Then add in the time needed to explore the beaches briefly and the cemetery. If you do see the cemetery, you will need at least 45 minutes, and that's cutting it close.

Second, most people are not familiar with the Bayeux tapestry, or even Bayeux, itself. On our visit last fall, we had a group of 8 on an Overlord tour, and I had to press a bit just to drive through Bayeux on our return trip. There was not adequate time for us to see the tapestry, but everyone seemed to enjoy seeing the town, itself.
