Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We were on the second leg of that cruise and were crushed when cancelled. Here is what I did. Booked us on an August cruise from Barcelona to Rome. (Our airline credits needed to be used by September!). I asked Oceania to look into honoring our credits for booking the cancelled cruise while on another cruise and another credit for booking early. We only had the deposit down which they will switch to new cruise. Trawick insurance allowed us to switch coverage but had to pay for 3 additional days. I would confirm with the insurance company if you could switch cruise plans and still be covered. It was a horrible few days but am now looking forward to future trip! Good luck to you.
  2. Thanks for sharing your experiences. When we sail in June on Riviera, will make sure we are in the theater with the first group of Oceania excursions when we plan on our own port visits. Sounds like Oceania might also be receiving incorrect info from these ports but would help if they acknowledged this and maybe asked for passengers patience. Glad you also appreciate other aspects of Oceania - May you enjoy smooth sailing going forth!
  3. Hi Bella C, my husband and I will be on the same cruise as you but it’s June 10 to 17 th! Look on your reservation papers and on the first or second page it will tell you when you can make specialty restaurant reservations. We are rocking seniors also and for a 7 day cruise you can get by with one pair of nice slacks, with various tops for the specialty restaurants and Main Dining room. I guess I would say it’s like going out for a celebration dinner. We will probably spend two dinners at the Terrace Cafe where you can wear what you wore during the day! People going on shore wear what is comfortable for them. If you are visiting churches you should prepare to have your shoulders and knees covered to be on the safe side. We will be going on 3 Oceania tours and walk around on our own in St. Tropez so can’t help you with on shore tours. Have a wonderful time!
  4. Thank you so much! I didn’t think about having to get a tender ticket if not, going on an excursion!
  5. Just wondering if when we arrive in Saint Tropez will my husband and I be allowed to board a tender when the excursions start or at least not have to wait until the excursions are over. Thank you!
  6. Oops thought I remembered lids and that was only back in May!
  7. Yes at Barista’s. Just tell them if you want regular coffee, cappuccino etc “to go”. I think they also had take away coffee and tea in The Terrace. Barista’s has very good coffee. Enjoy your trip!
  8. Sthrngary you had asked if I found out about friends stopping in Turkey on their cruise. They did and it was my friends favorite stop. Maybe because she bought 2 leather jackets and she and her boyfriend both bought rugs for their homes. Saw the one jacket already and it was the softest leather I’ve ever seen. Keep enjoying your cruise!
  9. Sthrngary I will certainly let you know what our friends experience in Turkey.
  10. We have friends who should be sailing from Rome today or tomorrow on Oceania with the last two stops in Turkey. I was wondering to myself whether that schedule might change. We will see.
  11. We were on the Riviera in June. Had a Penthouse Suite which we loved! The bed was so comfortable and the shower was great! We loved going to the Thassotherapy Pool and making kir royals in the afternoon to enjoy on our balcony. Toscana was my favorite specialty restaurant where I really enjoyed a pasta and lobster dish. I think my husband was blown away with the king prime rib in Polo. Although it was a nice rare serving, I found it a bit bland when I tasted it. To each his own. We enjoyed the Main Dining Room as well as the Terrace Cafe where I enjoyed way too much cheese and breads! They also served delicious mussels one night as well as baby lamb chops and lobster tails nightly ( suggest getting 3 of each as they are small!) Once I figured out how to open the Specialty and Main Dining* Room salt shakers, I was happy. I did think extra salt was needed quite a few times but again that’s me. We often ordered several appetizers which is always fun. We would check the menus on the tv each day to decide between the main dining room and the Terrace. You will always find something that appeals to you and if something is a disappointment you can always order something else which we never had to do. We booked another cruise while onboard so I guess that tells you something! Have a wonderful time and wear your snugger outfits the first few days as you will gain a few pounds! Have a wonderful time!
  12. Loved this drink also! Ordered it in GDR our first night and loved it! But be careful where you order it. When we ate at Toscana our friend ordered it and it tasted nothing like mine. I think the waiter made it himself as he asked what was in it. Next cruise I want to try an Espresso Martini. We had one in Winchester, England and it was wonderful!
