  1. Olden, when not alongside for the day, we docked to allow passengers off, then moved to anchor as another ship moored up. Tenders were used and then we moved in for passengers to walk onto the ship. Perfect scenario when more than one ship is there.
  2. Just checked and yes, it was def, 'the' wedding. Quite a few of us watched it for hours and I seem to remember quite a lot of alcohol was consumed during the day. Most convivial and very enjoyable ! 🍷
  3. We were onboard QV for [I think] Harry's wedding. Whatever the Royal occasion, it was screened in the theatre and the Grills lounge and we had a Gala dinner with a specially produced souvenir menu [which I threw away and thus can't totally be 100% sure of the occasion] and a complimentary glass of something bubbly with dinner. Also, docking in the Seychelles and again, I can't remember the occasion but there was a beautiful faux cake celebrating the Queen on the quayside in 'our' honour and again, a bit of a do onboard so quite frankly, I can't imaging a once, for many, in a lifetime Royal occasion, namely the coronation of a British monarch going uncelebrated in quite a big, but Cunard'ishly dignified, way.
  4. I think we've tendered once in Flamm, the rest of our visits have been docked. A floating boardwalk would be such fun instead of tendering. This is assuming Cunard ships will be able to access the Sognefjord and then Aurlandsfjord.
  5. If offered, no question about it, Bamboo would be our choice.
  6. We bought one 'economy' package on the first sea day [saved around $15 as opposed to buying on embarkation] and used it for our two iPads.
  7. Q5 to Q2, I assure you in our experience, you there is no difference in level of service whatsoever. None. I will let you know if our path is strewn with rose petals and our bath filled with goat milk every evening after our first Q1 coming up soon. 🙂
  8. I for one have never joined in Cunard the line, as a luxury product debate as I only have around fourteen days experience of non QG so do not have enough experience to make a definitive comment but may I just add, I have no problem with QE/QV service outside on decks eleven and twelve so I must have a 'please look after me' sign on my person 😄, because the staff do.
  9. Well I guess if a sweeping statement is made and another can find a point to challenge in that statement as I did with regards to Cunard service not matching up to luxury hotels, then I suppose one can only say, you opened up that line of direction!! 🙂
  10. Absolutely fine but it's a shame your one and only experience has soured your opinion of the product when I know, through many days of experience, the service offered by the butlers is great. It's there when needed and not, when not required. A perfect system. 🙂
  11. As has been said many times, you were obviously unlucky. To get a flavour of ours and others' experiences, book another QG cruise and see the difference.🙂
  12. Butlers don't hang around. Unpaged, they 're in charge of servicing the cabin for you and bringing you canapes late afternoon but they're too busy to hang around anywhere. They are there but are at the end of a pager for you and when you page, that's when they come to the cabin so don't worry if you want to give QG a whirl, there's no creeping out involved at all. 🙂
  13. Oh I don't know. We've stayed in some perceived up market hotels and QG could hold it's own against them, even down to the butler service which I consider better than some of the hotels we've stayed in.
  14. Don't think you are at all!!!😡 😄 I was told reciting The Lord's Prayer gets rid of earworms. Well it did until my earworm started singing it!!! Sorry Hattie Back to topic! 🙂 Apart from the fact we book so far in advance, some speakers might not yet have realised they would become speakers, speakers are of passing interest. Some we'd go and listen to and some we bypass but they have little effect on our enjoyment of the holiday.
  15. One of my most hated earworms comes from a Disneyland ride. Damn and blast, I can hear it now! 😕
  16. Ahhh A good old earworm. I hate earworms!!😕 Sorry! 🙂
  17. Q1 and 2'er here and no, we've never had sneak prior knowledge of speakers but then to be fair, I've never looked but in the interest of research, I've looked at all our bookings and no, no speakers announced.
  18. Oh I get you. Not at all. Can't have a Literature Festival without folk knowing who the speakers will be. No, I was thnking along the lines of privacy and data protection.
  19. No idea what you mean, sorry.
  20. We were used to the 'gentle hum' years ago but the reported not so good vibrations of late last year was a whole new ball game so that's very good news. Thank you. I will still report back though, to confirm.
  21. Or it could be a privacy issue eg announcing to the world [well cruising world] 'you' will be away from home?
  22. We will be aft on our next outing so I sincerely hope so!! I will report back.
