Yeah, follow the science & medical experts -- that's a load of bologna.  You wear a double mask, not me.   Here's someone who I think has her head screw on properly.

Best most common sense advice I have seen thus far.   It all makes sense to me.

A voice of reason.   . . . healthy, happy and safe.

The information is helpful for me, and thank you for sharing.

To those whom this didn't matter, they are certainly free to keep scrolling.

I am currently on Ovation. With binoculars from North Star you could see a slight plume hours later. The island was 46 nautical miles from where the sip was docked but very much visible. It was an eerie thing to know that devastation occurred just across the water in eye sight and was quite literally still happening with many unaccounted for still on the island.

All that matters is that I'm thankful that you are safe; life is fleeting and precious.

If this is your husbands first cruise and you are trrying to impress him to taking you on more cruises.............. In my opinion Empress is not the ship to take. Navigator, Brilliance, Mariner or even Enchantment out of Galeveston would be better options.

We cruised on her one time on a Repo from San Juan to NYC............Wife and I agreed, never again on that ship. Just to many better options to ever sail on her again.

Nope, we're frequent cruisers. Just wanted to check with others on their thoughts regarding Empress. Nothing more.

  4. Considering surprising my hubby with a shorty cruise (3-5 dys) next Spring, and I'm looking at possibly trying Empress. Anyone who has been on her, please share your thoughts/experiences on the ship.  Clearly it won't have the bells and whistles of the mid-size or mega ships; but I'd like to know if I should try it or book another since it's one of RC's oldest in the fleet.

    Thanks in advance 😉

We just sailed Harmony in 6676 which is closer to the elevators.

In December 2018, we had the cabin next door to yours... 6674.  Loved the location, and heard absolutely nothing the entire time I was on the ship.  Also liked being on the same deck as Starbucks and the hot dog stand, LOL 😂

(Sorry OP, that had nothing to do with your original post...)

Yea.  For today and tomorrow only, they were selling round trip for just $49.   However, they only have one flight a day at the moment and it's out of Oakland.  Needless to say, that flight  sold out in a hurry.   We are SWA points fliers so we will sure keep and eye out for their schedule later when it gets more established.

I'll be sailing on POA in October so will be watching as well, at least for a few weeks.  Can't wait too much longer because I want to get this squared away. Flying to CA from the Chi.

  7. If you're still researching flights to Honolulu for an upcoming Pride of America sailing, Southwest Air is finally booking through September!  I know that not everyone is a Southwest fan, but for those who are this is a good time to check out their super-reasonable fares. All of their itineraries are out of CA hubs, so you'll need to get there first.  Just an FYI. :classic_biggrin:

Are you talking about on the Carnival site and at the booking portion?  If so, it is there.  It is at the very end because they are not calling it the Carnival Mardi Gras, but just Mardi Gras.  Maybe they are dropping "Carnival" from future ship names?

Hmmm, that's interesting. Sure makes searching for the ship a tad bit more complicated than necessary, but I'll check it out.  Thanks much!

We were on the Navigator from October 26th to Dec 2nd, in a Junior Suite.  Friends that came by our cabin said "Nice, looks like you got an upgraded bed and really nice pillows".  Our bed was soft (the way we like it), bedsheets always fresh, and pillows almost luxurious...we slept like babies.  Agree with everyone else...not much other perks.  But we love that extra space and the walk-in closet.  Note: A father and his young son walked by while we had our door opened...the young child (perhaps 6 yrs old) said "Dad, why is their room bigger than ours?"  The father smiled and pulled his son away from our door and said "That's a suite...ours is just a cabin".☺️

Wait... did I read correctly? You were on Navigator from Oct 26th thru Dec 2nd?
