An update:  Just checked my favorite online TA for prices for that cruise.  They are offering Mariner prices as follows:  Inside $799; Outside $899; Balcony $1249 and Suite $1799.  These prices include taxes and port charges.  I would consider it, but at that time we will be just ending a 33 day Sydney to Taipei cruise on Seaborn.

Yes.  I noticed that the TA you were referring to was offering those prices at same time i saw them when signed in to my account

  2. Just a heads up on the current 7 day sale that includes crew appreciation.   I have been monitoring the Noordam 25 day sailing from Sydney to Vancouver on April 6-30, 2024.    The “cruise only “ which includes crew appreciation is drastically reduced for all categories of cabins.  Prices in Canadian dollars range from $1039 per person for an inside to $3339 per person for Neptune suite.    In case anyone was considering this itinerary

For the record, the cruise lines were not shut down for two years.  I sailed in March of 2020 right before the shutdown and again in September of 2021.  The sailings began even earlier than September but that was my first.  I will grant you that for quite some time after restart the ships were not full so they definitely didn't have full revenue but not sure I would call it little.

I rounded it off to two years,  i believe the actual time was 15 to 18 months.   Still a long time with little revenue coming in.    Here is a link that gives all the dates of activity or lack thereof during the pandemic. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj8vpry6uyAAxXemIkEHZCVBuUQFnoECBYQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcruiseradio.net%2Ftimeline-2020-cruise-ship-industry-shutdown%2F&usg=AOvVaw2f4HkehWIjZZMp8bzWvtP0&opi=89978449

  4. I believe cruising is still a good bang for my buck.  I believe that because I can still cruise for a week in a balcony cabin, with very good dining and entertainment thrown in , for what I have to pay for a return economy airline seat for two of us from Toronto to Heathrow.  just my two cents worth.  I am surprised the cruising industry survived as well as it did after more than two years of little or no revenue coming in.

$80 for a cab from FLL to Miami is a good price. Did you book ahead of time and if so with who or did you just take a cab outside departure area ?

It was a sunday afternoon and on arrival we just walked outside and spoke to first taxi driver and told him which hotel i wanted to go to in Miami.  Asked him if he would go by meter,to which he said yes.   On arrival at hotel, his meter I believe was at $81.   I gave him a tip as well

  7. In February 2023, we flew Toronto to Fort Lauderdale , took a cab from airport to hampton Inn South Blue Lagoon Miami for $80.    Hotel had offsite shuttle to port in the morning.    After cruise we took cruiseline bus transfer back to Fort Lauderdale airport.   Even after cab and bus transfer we saved $300 on our airfare.   We chose taxi because local transfer companies did not pick up at fort lauderdale airport after 4 pm which was when our flight arrived.
